Marlins power too much for Jays team unable to score with runners in scoring position.

Toronto v Florida Marlins Series finale and Jays try to avoid another embarrassing series sweep and at home.

Lineups: Marlins: Coghlan, Bonifaco, Ramirez, Hermida, Uggla, Ross, Helms, Paulino, Carroll, and Johnson 5-1 pitching.
Toronto: Cito stays with his new lineup. Scutaro, Hill, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Rios, Overbay, Millar, Barajas and Tallet pitching.

The good: BJ Ryan, second game in two days and another good inning and that ERA down 40 points to 6.06. Hayhurst continues his 0.0 ERA with 2.1 relief innings after Tallet implodes. Rolen 3-4 day. Jays lose two one run games. Could they have won them and the series ???? Rios and Millar with home runs but….

The bad: Everyone and everything else. The three-game home loss is Toronto's first this season. This team needs a day off badly to regroup from a weekend they want to forget and quick. But they now face a rotation without Halladay this week and starting on the road against the Phillies, but then again this team could easily win them all. There is just no consistency at all right now. Florida sweeps an AL opponent for the first time in over two years since May 18-20, 2007, at Tampa Bay. Jays lose their fourth straight and are now 0-6 in interleague play. This is the third time Marlins have swept Toronto in a three-game series. They did it in Miami in 2006 and at Toronto in 1997. Jays 0-5 with runners in scoring position. AND 0-13 in the last TWO DAYS ???… OUCH, OUCH, OUCH. That is where Cito and coaching staff should be starting. Game after game after game futility with runners in scoring position. They must rank bottom of the heap in that category this season.
Jays get seven hits today Rolen three and Hill has two. Where is everyone else ? Everyone with Marlins lineup get at least two hits except for the DH Hermida who remains hitless. Jays drop to fourth spot with Rays. From first to fourth, Cito ????? any ideas ?

Top 1st: Coghlan bunting and pops it up to Tallet. Bonifacio strikes out. Ramirez fly ball to Rios. Good start for Tallet, now for the bats to get going.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro strikes out. Hill singles to centre.Wells grounds to short Ramirez throw to second base Uggla to get Hill. Two down one on. Lind grounds to short Ramirez throw to first base Helms.

Top 2nd: Hermida fly ball flied out to left fielder Lind. Uggla singled to center. Ross doubled to left, Uggla to third. Helms sac fly to Rios, Uggla scores. 2-0 Marlins. Paulino at bat, there it goes, home run to left. Two runs score. 3-0 Marlins. Carroll fly ball to Wells.
Bottom 2nd: Rolen singles to right. Rios fouls out to Paulino behind the plate. Overbay full count and walks, Rolen to second. Millar with two on and one down fly ball to left field Coghlan. Barajas strikes out. Jays leave two more on base.

Top 3rd: Coghlan walks. Cito just loves that with score at 0-3. Bonifacio singles to right, Coghlan to third. Marlins in business again and Tallet just struggling out there. Ramirez singles to right, Coghlan scores and Bonifacio to second. 4-0 Marlins and still not outs with two on. Hermida strikes out. Uggla lines to Rolen throw to Hill, double play ball and Tallet rescued from bigtime blowout.
Bottom 3rd: Scutaro grounds to Ramirez at short throw to first base Helms. Hill fouls out to pitcher Johnson. Wells grounds to second base Uggla throw to first base Helms. Jays go meekly.

Top 4th: Ross singles to left. Helms singles to left, Ross to second. Paulino singles to left, Ross to third, Helms to second. Congratulations Tallet, you have just loaded the bases on three identical hits to Lind and with no outs. Your ERA is about to reach horror proportions. Carroll , singles to center this team, Ross and Helms score Marlins 6-0 and the fans start heading out to visit the beach this afternoon, far less stress. Coghlan grounds to second base Hill throw to Overbay, but runners move up Paulino to third, Carroll to second. Bonifacio singles to centre. Paulino scores Carroll to third. 7-0 Marlins and finally enough to watch from Tallet, Cito spares us more agony. Hayhurst now pitching. Ramirez sac fly to Rios in right, Carroll scores 8-0 Marlins. Hermida hit by pitch, Bonifacio to second. Uggla fly ball to Lind.
Bottom 4th: Lind strikes out. Rolen singles to centre. Alex there she goes Alex, home run to left 8-2. Overbay grounds to second base Uggla throw to first base Helms. Two down for Millar. There she goes, another home run to left. 8-3 Marlins and Jays starting to get to Johnson. Barajas grounds to first base Helms. Jays threaten but long way to go yet.

Top 5th: Ross grounds to Rolen throw to Overbay, one down. Helms fly ball to Wells. Paulino grounds to Rolen throw to Overbay. Three up and down for Hayhurst.
Bottom 6th: Scutaro grounds back to Johnson throw to second base Uggla on to first base Helms.Hill fly ball to centre field Ross. Wells fly ball to centre field Ross.

Top 6th: Carroll grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay. Coghlan doubles to right. Bonifacio grounds to Overbay, Coghlan to third. Ramirez hit by pitch. Carlson now pitching. Ramirez is going and safe at second. Hermida fouls out to Rolen.
Bottom 6th: Lind grounds to first base Helms one down. Rolen fly ball to left field Coghlan. Rios grounds to third base Bonifacio throw to first base Helms for third out.

Top 7th: Uggla singles to centre.Ross strikes out. Helms grounds to Scutaro Uggla to second. Hems safe at first. Paulino singles to left, Uggla to third, Helms to second. Bases loaded and still no outs. Carroll grounds to Rolen throw to Barajas, Uggla out at home plate, Helms to third, Paulino to second. Bases remain loaded with one down. Coghlan walks, Helms scores. Cito has just had apoplectic fit, that is the very worst that a pitcher can do in Cito’s eyes. 9-3 Marlins. Paulino to third and Carroll to second. Base remain loaded. Bonifacio strikes out.
Bottom 7th: Overbay strikes out. Millar strikes out. Barajas fouls out to first base Helms.

Marlins 8th: Ryan pitching.Ramirez singles to centre. Hermida fly ball to Lind. Uggla fly ball to Rios. Ross pops up to Overbay. Good inning BJ.
Bottom 8th: Scutaro pops to second base Uggla. One down for Hill singles to centre. Wells walks, better than an out Vernon. Hill to second. Lind grounds to second base Uggla to shortstop Ramirez on to first base Helms, double play ball. When things are going badly nothing goes right for the Jays at least. Wells went 0 for 3 with a walk and is hitless in 17 at-bats. He has not homered in 137 at-bats, the longest drought of his career. ...

Top 9th: League pitching. Helms strikes out. Paulino 3- 4 today, there it goes first pitch to left field and his second home run today. 10-3 Marlins. Paulino three rbis and three runs today and his first career multihomer game. Carroll singles to centre. Coghlan singles to centre, Carroll to second. League just not sharp at all but Cito will leave him out there now. Bonifacio grounds to Scutaro to first baseman Overbay, Carroll to third, Coghlan to second.Ramirez with two down and two on, wild pitch by League and another run Carroll comes home, 11-3 Marlins. Coghlan to third. Ramirez grounds to Hill throw to Overbay to bring an end to this horrible weekend for the pitchers at least. Marlins have eighteen hits to add to the other 24 in the first two games, Jays pitching in serious trouble this weekend.
Bottom 9th: Eight run deficit and Johnson still out there to torment these Jays underachievers. Rolen singles to left. Rios fouls out to Helms at first. Overbay walks, Rolen to second. Two on and one down. Millar strikes out. Barajas fly ball to Ross in centre to end this agony. Johnson goes to 6-1 on seven hits and wins his third straight decision. He struck out six and walked three. Jays have to watch Marlins celebrate a sweep in Toronto. That IS embarrassing from a team that was 14-14 on the road until they hit Toronto.

Will be interesting to see how Marlins do against Boston followed by Yankees. I don’t think they will be sweeping those teams somehow. Interesting news: Jays announce signing of draft pick Jonathan Fernandez (shortstop), the son of former Jays Tony Fernandez.
Jays now head to Philadelphia need to smarten up or this will be another horrible road trip.
