Jays win the hard way for Janssen behind Lind 4 rbis

Toronto v Texas First game of four.

Bad news for Rangers that Hamilton is out for 4-6 weeks. Janssen has some thing to prove tonight after his last outing.

Lineups: Toronto: First team tonight. Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Overbay, Millar, Barajas and Janssen pitching.
Texas: Kinsler, Young, Blalock, Cruz, Murphy, Byrd, Davis, Saltalamacchia, Andrus and Feldman pitching.

The very good: Janssen for six, Lind two home runs and four rbis.
The good: Bullpen of Frasor, League and Downs to save it for Janssen. The big bats of Rolen 3-4 tonight and Overbay in the ninth. Scutaro and Hill in the ninth.

The bad: 3/10 with runners in scoring position. Par for the season but playing with fire with such a team as Texas that have more big bats than the Jays. The errors in the seventh to make it a close game until the ninth.

Top 1st: Scutaro, full count, strikes out looking right down the middle Marco. Hill, fly ball to Byrd in left centre. Rios what game has Alex brought to Texas ? Grounds to Anbdruis at short throiw to Davis at first, thre up and down for Jays. Twelve pitches.
Bottom 1st: Kinsler pops up to Scutaro, one down. Young strikes out swinging. Two down for Blalock. Bounces one softly to Scutaro throw to Overbay for the out. Eight pitch inning. Casey will take that anyday.

Top 2nd: Vernon when will he break out and stay consistent? Walks on 3-1 pitch and he swung at a ball out of the zone, so that is five in a row for Feldman. Lind, YES Adam, gets hold of this one, upper cut Home run into right Rangers bullpen.seats. 2-0 Jays. Feldman knew it right away. Rolen, welcome back Scott missed the last two for his back. Full count and fouling them off. Singles into right off the glove of Kinsler. Very difficult chance moving backwards. Overba at bat. Lyle named AL Player of the Week today. Overbay finished the week 8-for-15 with two home runs and eight RBI. Lyle with one on and no outs. Rolen stealing awful, easily out as he ball is waiting for him. Strange call Scott. Overbay singles to right. That out figures now. Millar, grounds to Andrus flip to Kinsler on to Davis, double play ball. Good start for Jays but they will need more than two to beat this high hitting team. 39 pitches for Feldman.
Bottom 2nd: Cruz, this guy is one to be careful with Casey. Fly ball to Rios. Murphy, doubles over the head of Vernon in centre and to the wall. Almost had it. Would have been spectacular catch. Maybe Vernon playing a little too shallow. One on one down for Byrd, fly ball to Rios in right, Murphy holds at second. Davis strikes out, some wicked pitches there Casey. 26 pitches.

Top 3rd: Barajas goes down for that pitch and golfs it into centre right to Cruz, one down for Scutaro, singles into right corner. Hill one on one down. Some of these pitches by Feldman are way off the mark. Hill lines one to Murphy in left two down. Rios grounds down the third base line throw to second to get Scutaro. 52 pitches.
Bottom 3rd: Saltalamacchia, bunting but foul, fly ball to Lind in left, one down for Elvis Andrus. Grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay, two down for Kinlser. Singles over the head of Hill running back just could not get to it. Young, one on two down. Oh MY !…. What a catch !!! Hill gets to this one behind second base bag, highlight reel Aaron. That should have been a single for Young up the middle. 37 pitches.

Top 4th: Wells leading off again. 3-0 Feldman walked Vernon last time. And again this time on four pitches. Vernon has had one strike in last nine pitches 25-31 balls and strikes for Feldman. Lind way outside Adam should not be swinging at that one. Vernon stealing and just safe at second, full count on Lind. OH MY Adam, another home run, is this kid hot ???? Opposite field this time into centre right and this game is 4-0.Jays. Rolen again no one out. Full count. Singles to left. Don’t steal this time Scott. Overbay grounds to David at first, on to Kinsler at second, double play ball. Millar, lines out to left. 79 pitches.
Bottom 4th: Blalock, singles to right centre. Cruz with one on, grounds a bullet to Rolen, great play Scott on to Hill on to Overbay, double play ball. Murphy with two down, full count. Doubles off the wall in right centre, almost out. Byrd with one in scoring position, strikes out. 51 pitches.

Top 5th: Barajas grounds to Andrus at short throw to Davis at first, one down for Scutaro , whoa, strikes out looking on three pitches not a good at bat, Marco arguing, Hill, hitless in two, lines first pitch up the middle, no nonsense here. Rios now with one on grounds to Kinsler throw to Davis for the out. Quick eight pitch inning for Feldman and Wells will lead off in the sixth for the third time tonight. 87 pitches.
Bottom 5th: Davis, strikes out, one down for Saltalamacchia, strikes out, number four for Janssen tonight. Andrus hits him on the leg. Didn’t want that. Kinsler walks, Janssen a little rattled here, calm him down coach. Young, grounds to Hill, throw to Overbay and Janssen out of trouble. 72 pitches.

Top 6th: Wells to lead off for third time tonight. Two walks so far. Perhaps Cito you should put him leadoff ? Not this time grounds back to Feldman but throw wild and Vernon goes to second. Oh man that wax a terrible error by the pitcher. Lind grounds to second but does his job and moves Vernon to third. Rolen this will not do it, fly ball to shallow right and Cruz running on makes the catch, I think Vernon had a chance as Cruz would have been way off balance to make a good throw. Overbay grounds to Davis at first and Vernon does not come home. Not good friends. Have to take your chances when they are gift wrapped. 94 pitches.
Bottom 6th: Blalock, 3-1 Janssen is losing his sharpness of earlier in the game and walks him. Cruz with one on. singles to left centre, two on and no outs. Frasor up in bullpen, he has a rested bullpen after Halladay’s complete game yesterday. Murphy, grounds to Hill, unable to come up with it, bounces off him and bases loaded. That could have been double play. Error to Hill. Cito out but Janssen says he is ok. He had better be this is crucial play right now. Byrd and no where to put him. Grounds to Scutaro cannot come up with it. That’s two in a row but run Blalock scores 4-1 bases still loaded and no outs for Davis strikes out. Wild pitch ball goes to backstop Cruz scores Murphy to third, Byrd to second. Three in a row, Cito get out there. 4-2 Jays. What a horrible ending for Janssen that was three outs in a row, instead two runs and one out. Frasor now pitching but Texas back in this one. Saltalamacchia with bases loaded, singles to right, run Murphy scores 4-3. Byrd to third. Andrus runners at first and third now there’s a bit of luck, sacrifice bunt, Byrd coming home, but misses bunt and Barajas chases Byrd and tags diving at his legs before he reached third, two down with runner at second. Andrus fly ball to Lind. That was one very weird inning.

Top 7th: Jennings now pitching for Rangers, Millar at bat, they have to get Janssen off the hook here get at least one back, pops it up to Saltalamacchia, Barajas strikes out. Scutaro culrit on one of those strange plays. Payback Marco, singles to right, Hill now who started all of that in the last inning with his error and missed double play opportunity. You owe Casey Aaron. Scutaro stealing, Hill misses and Scutaro thrown out easily at second. Not good judgement there Marco unless that was a hit and run missed by Hill. This game is slipping away from Jays.
Bottom 7th: Kinsler first pitch fly ball to Rios, one down. Young at bat. League and Carlson up in Jays bullpen. Grounds to short but Frasor makes great defensive play and throws a strike to Overbay, two down. Blalock grounds hard to Hill makes it this time and throw to Overbay for the out. Exactly what was needed to take momentum from Rangers. Now back to those bats to help get some of the runs back.

Top 8th: Hill second chance here to face Jennings, Fly ball out to Byrd in centre. Rios, Alex we need a good hit here. Takes the first two, 3-0 count, perfect Alex, doubles into the right field corner. Now Vernon you know what you have to do, time for some leadership here, strikes out looking. Ah well, we all continue to dream that one day the real Vernon will return. Lind grounds to Davis at first, flip to Jennings for third out.
Bottom 8th: Jays bullpen now have their work cut out holding Rangers here. Brandon League to do it. You never know with Brandon. Cruz at bat, Downs up in bullpen. Cruz strikes out, one down. That was a very good out. Murphy grounds to Overbay, two down for Byrd. Davis singles past diving Hill to Rios in right. That’s it for Brandon. Here comes Downs to face pinch hitter Andruw Jones with one on and two down. Grounds to OIverbay throw to Hill for the out at second. Nice pitching Scott and Brandon.

Top 9th: The big guys, can they do something? Rolen to leadoff, 2-3 tonight. Jennings still out there. 3-0 count. Scott doubles to right corner, 3-4 night and perfect timing for that double. Overbay with runner in scoring position and no outs. Need a double here Lyle. Full count, still need the double, and walks. Rangers conference on the mound, six of them, O’Day up in Texas bullpen. Millar long overdue tonight Kevin, come on. Singles to left, that will do. Bases loaded for Barajas but here comes Ron Washington and that’s it for Jennings. O’Day submariner pitching, bases loaded with no room for error, no outs. Johnny Mc pinch running at first for Millar. Need a hit here Rod, not like that, pops up to catcher Saltalamacchia, one down. Now Scutaro time for amends. Perfect Marco, singles into right, Rolen scores, Overbay held at third, bases still loaded, 5-3 Jays. Hill now also to make amends for his error that has made it this close. That will do fly ball to right, Overbay tags and scores 6-3 Jays two down for Rios. McDonald at third. Full count, Alex making O’Day work here. Walks him bases loaded again for Vernon. Good at bat by Alex, very patient. Vernon we need a hit here. Forget the grand slam heroics, a single will do fine. Fly ball to left for third out. Not impressed Vernon. But Jays get two more and give Downs a three run cushion here.
Bottom 9th: Saltalamacchia full count, fouling a few off here to make Downs do some work. Walks him, Cito is not a happy camper. Andrus singles up the middle and just like that tying run to the plate in Kinsler. No outs. He tries but fly ball to Inglett now in left. Young has a shot one down. Hitting .500 against Downs. Grounds to Rolen steps on third to get Saltalamacchia, two down. Blalock with two on and two down. Long fly ball to centre Vernon earns his money chasing this one down and Jays hold on to win this for Janssen.
Jays win this one 6-3.
