Jays outplayed for second day and ruin Lind's amazing day.

Toronto v Angels. Final game of series.

Lineups: Angels: Figgins, Aybar, Guerrero,Hunter, Rivera, Morales, Napoli, Quinlan, Mathews, Kendrick and Lackey pitching.
Jays: Cito is listening…. And read yesterday’s blog. Vernon is sitting for whatever reason but long overdue. Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Lind, Millar, Overbay, Bautista, Chavez, Inglett and Tallet pitching. No way this lineup will win today. But the good news is that Lind is hitting cleanup. He has earned that spot over Vernon. But Tallet will have to pitch the game of his life with this hitting behind him. No Barajas, No Rolen, No Wells.

Jays lose another 6-5 now have lost twelve of their last fifteen and gap with Boston and Yankees now widening, you cannot keep on losing and expect to stay in the race. Jays now three back of both teams and only two ahead of Tampa in fourth spot. Jays could be in fourth by the end of the weekend at this rate. Cito and coaching staff need to regroup before Kansas series. This team will not beat Greinke like this.

The very good: Adam Lind. 5-5 today and matching team record with eight consecutive hits.
The good: Scoring three in the eighth. Wells on the bench. Hayhurst excellent inning of work.

The very bad/awful category. Alex Rios 0-5 but worse still five strikeouts. Cito has to do something here if only to get Alex back on track. Looked like it earlier in the week with two home runs but what happened today ? Hill !!! 0-5 today and 0-20 streak !! Runners in scoring position another nightmare day, much too awful to say here.

Top 1st: Figgins full count and walks.Aybar grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay one down but moves runner to second. Guerrero singles to left and here comes Figgins, just like that. 1-0 Angels. Hunter at bat, Guerrero stealing and safe at second. Hunter singles to left Guerrero scores 2-0 Angels. Morales at bat, there goes Hunter and safe at second, Rivera doubles to left, Hunter scores 3-0 Angels. Three runs, two stolen bases three hits, this will be another long afternoon for Jays fielders. Tallet just doesn’t have it like Janssen last night. Morales grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay, two down for Napoli, strikes out but damage is done. Kays facing another uphill battle with Angels at bootom of the first inning.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro grounds to second base Kendrick throw to first base Morales. Hill grounds back to Lackey throw to first base Morales. Two quick outs for Rios. Strikes out. Three up and down for Lackey.

Top 2nd: Angels can cruise. Quinlan strikes out. Kendrick walks, third walk given up by Tallet in 1 1/3 innings. Figgins again for second at bat fly ball to Lind playing in left today. Aybar fly ball to Lind.
Bottom of 2nd: Jays new cleanup guy, and last night’s hero, Lind. Does it again and singles to centre. One on for Millar fly ball to centre Hunter. Overbay at bat, wild pitch by Lackey, Lind to second. Overbay lines out to Hunter, Lind moves to third. Bautista strikes out.

Top 3rd: Guerrero fly ball to Inglett playing in right today. Hunter strikes out. Rivera grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay. Three up and down for Tallet.
Bottom 3rd: Chavez lines out to third base Figgins. One down for Inglett, singles to centre. Scutaro walks, Inglett to second. Two on for Hill. Grounds to second base Kendrick throw to shortstop Aybar on to Morales at first, double play ball. Lackey racing through this Jays team.

Top 4th: Morales full count and walks. Napoli strikes out one down one on for Quinlan singles to left, Morales to second. Kendrick grounds to Scutaro throw to third base Bautista to get Morales, Quinlan to second, Kendrick to first. Here comes Figgins again third time already. Singles to centre, Quinlan scores 4-0 Angels, just like last night. Kendrick to third. Aybar strikes out.
Bottom 4th: Lead off Rios strikes out for second time today. Lind again and comes through yet again doubles to right. Adam is really on fire but unfortunately he is the only one in this lineup at least. Millar grounds to Figgins throw to Morales, Lind moves to third.Overbay, singles to right and finally Jays get on the board. 4-1. Bautista with one on and two down, strikes out.

Top 5th: Guerrero grounds to Hill throw to Overbay. One down for Hunter strikes out. Rivera grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay. Three up and down but Tallet still losing this one 4-1.
Bottom 5th: Chavez singles to left. One on for mighty Joe Inglett, I agree with my New York State friends, Inglett should not be up here, either give someone like Buck Coats a chance or bring back Travis Snider there is no way Travis could be half as bad as Well, Rios and more than half of the others, but they are all trying aren’t they Cito? Inglett fly ball to left field Quinlan. Scutaro fly ball to Hunter. Hill grounds to Figgins throw to second base Kendrick, to get Chavez.

Top 6th: Morales lines to Rios playing centre today. Napoli 3-0 count, there it goes Home run to left. 5-1 Angels.Quinlan grounds to Hill throw to first base Overbay. Kendrick grounds to third base Bautista throw to Overbay. Angels have a comfortable lead. Tallet 109 pitches ! in six.
Bottom 6th: Defensive changes for Angels to hold on to the lead Rivera in at left field. Matthews Jr right field. Rios hitless in two today and once more strikes out. Third strikeout for Rios today. Must be missing Vernon out there. Lind 2-2 and again doubles to right. He is amazing, this is the sort of hitting we all hope for from Alex and Vernon but have not seen in several years. Way to go Adam. Millar grounds to first base Morales, Lind to third again for third time today. Overbay grounds back to Lackey throw to Morales. Lind stranded on third.

Top 7th: That’s is it for Tallet, just didn’t have it today. Here comes Dirk Hayhurst now pitching, he was called up from Vegas to replace Wolfe. He was so good in Dunedin in the spring, could have made the team but at the time Jays had more than enough pitching, or so they thought. Good to see him in action and look who is at the plate, Figgins… What a debut for Dirk and strikes him out. Great start Dirk. Aybar strikes out. Guerrero singles to centre. Hunter singles to right, Guerrero to third. They have Hunter too aggressive, Inglett throw to cutoff Scutaro on to Hill now Overbay and Hunter is out. Very nice inning from Hayhurst. We will see this guy again and Cito will definitely be pleased.
Bottom 7th: Jays running out of bats now. Bautista full count and walks. Chavez singles to centre Bautista to third. Two on and no outs. Inglett walks bases loaded and no outs but Jays need six to won. Johnny Mc pinch-running for R.Chavez, we have not seen much of him recently. Scutaro pops up to Aybar at short. Runners hold. Hill grounds back to Lackey flip to Aybar on to Morales for second out. Bautista scores, Johnny Mc to third and Inglett to second. 5-2 Angels.
Rios 0-3 with three strike outs. Does it again strikes out. Four strikeouts in one game. Ouch Alex, bigtime failure here. But more importantly when the bottom of the batting order load the bases and with no outs, most teams would expect their top three in lineup to at least hit a single and bring in two runs minimum.

Top 8th: Barajas now catching. League pitching, too bad Hayhurst has left.. Rivera grounds to Hill throw to Overbay. One down. Morales fly ball to Lind. Angels want to finish this one and leave town. Napoli grounds to Bautista at third throw to first but Napoli safe at first on throwing error by Bautista. Nothing going right for this team today, let’s hope they can start afresh tomorrow but with Greinke pitching ??? most bets are on another loss for this team. Matthews Jr fly ball to Lind.
Bottom 8th: Oliver now pitching. Lind 3-3 today to go with three hits last night, at least someone is hot. 4-4 singles to centre. Baseball can be so simple. Three hits last night four today, that is hot… Millar singles to left, Lind to second. Something going here ??? Overbay at bat will he be bunting ? Wild pitch by Oliver, Lind to third, Millar to second. Overbay doubles to right, Lind scores, here comes Millar, one run game now. 5-4 Angels. Ex-Jay Speier now pitching. Bautista patience full count and walks. Barajas singles to centre, Overbay to third, Bautista to second. Still no one out here. Inglett ? no pinch hitter Cito with go ahead run at second, bases loaded ? and no outs, Whoa… Not trusting Vernon to do anything? I think if I were Vernon I would definitely not be happy. Inglett lines out to second baseman Kendrick. Although I know that Vernon is having terrible season but Joe Inglett ??? over Vernon. That does not make any sense. That may come back to hurt Jays for that very strange decision by Cito. Scutaro, sac fly to Mathews. Overbay scores to tie this up and Bautista to third..5-5 game. But not enough Cito, we needed a single there. Two down for Hill. Barajas stealing ??? and safe at second. Key run is at third. Hill strikes out. But in my book that was Cito’s poor decision

Top 9th: Kendrick bunt single to third. Scioscia playing small ball. Jays watch this one. Figgins singles to right, Kendrick to third. Aybar grounds to Hill, flip to Scutaro on to Overbay double play ball but Kendrick coming home and scores. He waited until Scutaro committed and beat out throw from Lyle. . It was a late break but Cito you may think it was a bad play but in my book that was aggressive pressure and it paid off. How about all those Jays left in scoring position through lack of any aggression ??? Small ball but Angels grab the lead back again with textbook play. 6-5 Angels. Guerrero strikes out but damage done, thanks Brandon.
Bottom 9th: Jays last chance here. Small ball Cito ? Aggressive base running ? Bunting ? Fuentes now pitching. 13/16 saves good luck. Rios leadoff 0-4 with four strike outs, strikes out for the fifth time, that is really rock bottom Alex. I don’t remember last time I watched a player strike out five times in one game but then again Cito thinks Alex is trying….. I wonder if he ever watches tapes of himself ? head in the air, his feet all over the place and continually pulling. Lind the other end of the scale 4-4 today and yes Adam here he goes again doubles to right. SO what’s with Alex and Vernon ? if Lind can do this ???? Millar great patience, too bad he does not play everyday but it may come to it with both Rios and Wells sitting soon. Millar walks. Two on one down. Here comes Vernon, no not to bat but to pinch run !!! for Millar, how ignominious….. If they do tie game up, Cito has no role for Vernon to pinch hit…. Looks as if even Cito has had enough of this. Two on one down for Overbay, patience, full count, will Cito send runners ? No and Lyle swings at ball four and strikes out. That was a big one Lyle but to be fair it was too close not to swing unless he had ice veins. Two down and runners stuck, no attempt to pressure Fuentes here to throw over even.

Jays outhit the Angels 12-10 but…. The old story runners in scoring position. Jays wait for it, 3/16 !!! today. How bad is that? Cito I thought you said you had TWO hitting coaches…. Someone is not doing their job….. Top three all hitless and number four five hits ??? go figure.. but of course number four was Adam Lind today.
