Toronto v Kansas Series finale.

Lineups: Royals: DeJesus, Bloomquist, Butler, Jacobs, Guillen, Teahen, Callaspo, Olivo, Maier and Davies pitching
Toronto: Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Overbay, Barajas, Bautista, Inglett and Halladay pitching.
.

The very good: Halladay 97 pitch complete game shutout.

The good: Hill his 13th home run. Overbay number nine. Good fielding back up to Halladay. Rios and Wells contribute to first run.

The bad: Jays 0-6 with runners in scoring position.

Top 1st: DeJesus grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay. One down. Bloomquist grounds to Hill throw to Overbay. Two down. Butler strikes out. Halladay eleven pitches two balls nine strikes.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro fly ball to Guillen in right, one down for Hill, after his first day off yesterday, full count, walks, Rios has had a rough week on and off the field. Singles up the middle off the mound, Hill to third. Two on for Vernon. He has to give Alex chance to steal here and stay out of that continual double play, pitch bounces away but hits Wells, No luck even here for Vernon if he had got out of way of the ball Hill could have scored. That’s better opposite field fly ball to right and Hill tags and scores, 1-0 Jays two down for Lind. There goes Alex. And safe at second. Verrry close play. Lind high fly ball to Maier in centre. But the good news is that both Rios and Wells contribute.

Top 2nd: Jacobs grounds to Scutaro on the shift right, throw to Overbay one down. Guillen singles to right. Teahen grounds to Hill, fumbles it and cannot turn two, Guillen out at second. Callaspo with Teahen at first. Teahen stealing throw wild but Hill backing up great diving save. Callaspo fly ball to Wells who makes that lok easy. Halladay getting good fielding back up today. 22pitches.
Bottom 2nd: Overbay whao Lyle gets hold of this one, no doubt at all off the restaurant roof. 2-0 Jays. Number seven on year for Lyle. Barajas lines it to Bloomquist at short. One down for Bautista high fly ball to Maier in centre. Inglett he of the .154 average. Even Johnny Mc has a .227 average. Lines it to Maier for third out.

Top 3rd: Olivo grounds very hard to Bautista, double clutches that ball long throw just gets him at first. Maier grounds to Hill another great save and throw to Overbay for second out. Hill is looking more and more like Robbie Alomar out there at second. DeJesus full count, grounds it back up the middle under Halladay’s glove, no chance for a play. Bloomquist strikes out looking on three pitches. Very nice Roy. 39 pitches.
Bottom 3rd: Can Jays break this one open and take some pressure off Halladay here? Top of the order again Scutaro. 3-0 count, Davies a little erratic here. Ball four. One on for Hill, Takes first two but gets hold of this one, into second deck in left another home run for Hill does that every feel good on his 0-25 ? Number thirteen for Aaron on the season. 4-0 Jays, pile it on guys. Rios singles into left 2-2 today plus a stolen base. Wells, one on no outs, just stay out of that pull to third Vernon. Leading the league in eight double plays, ouch not what he brags about, gets under this one fly ball to left, one down for Lind. There goes Alex, steals and safe at second. Lucky though as ball is dropped, he would have been out. Lind fly ball to right but enough for Alex to tag and get to third. Gueillen throw off the mark. Overbay ball gets away from catcher Olivo but Alex holds at third. Might have had a chance but with full count and Overbay decides against it. No real aggression from Cito’s boys. Overbay walks. Barajas with two on. 30 pitch inning here for Davies so far. Grounds to Teahen throw to second for force on Overbay. But Jays have given Halladay a cushion here.

Top 4th: Butler fly ball to shallow right centre Rios late to break and cannot get there. Jacobs singles to left, two on and no outs here. Halladay in his first spot of trouble. Guillen, perfect grounds to Bautista on to Hill on to Overbay two down in one pitch, great timing for double play. Butler at third for Teahen, grounds to Overbay flip to Halladay and he helps himself get out of that mess. That is why he is Cy Young this year.
Bottom 4th: Let’s see how Davies does this inning he was very erratic last inning. Bautista to lead off. Singles to DeJesus in left tries to stretch it and throw right on the mark out at second. These guys never learn. Inglett pops up to Teahen at third. Scutaro singles to centre. Hill hit by pitch, payback ?? Scutaro to second. Rios Scutaro stealing and safe at third. Alex lines to Maier in centre.

Top 5th: Callaspo grounds to Overbay flip to Halladay. One down. Olivo strikes out. Maier grounds to Overbay.
Bottom 5th: Wells singles up the middle. Lind grounds to second throw to Bloomquist back to Butler at first double play. Overbay singles up the middle. That double play hurts. Barajas grounds to third, throw to second to get Overbay.

Top 6th: DeJesus grounds weakly to Hill play in. one down, Bloomquist grounds first pitch to Hill, throw to Overbay two down. Butler strikes out. 65 pitches for Roy.
Bottom 6th: Davies on 95 pitches, I guess they want him to take a few more at bottom of order perhaps bottom two. Bautista grounds to short throw to first one down for Inglett lines first pitch to Bloomquist nice diving catch. Scutaro strikes out looking. Davies did his job and will finish on a high but helped by some poor at bats.

Top 7th: Jacobs, singles to right. Guillen, fly ball to Inglett in left, one down. Teahen singles into left over glove of Scutaro. Just had his fingertips on that one. Two on one down for Callaspo singles to centre, bases loaded now one down. Olivo strikes out on three pitches two down. Maier grounds first pitch to Overbay for third out and leaves those bases loaded. That is pitching. 80 pitches for Halladay. Six more outs?
Bottom 7th: Hill leading off. Davies still out there with 104 pitches, another iron man ? Hill grounds to first. Rios grounds to short, throw beats Alex at first just. Wells grounds to third ? throw to first and Davies has a very easy three up and down inning. Jays want out early tonight. Getaway night.

Top 8th: DeJesus grounds softly to Bautista, that was a bunt, but good strong throw to get him at first. One down. Bloomquist first pitch fly ball to Wells in centre. Two pitches two outs. Butler, strikes out, six pitch inning. MVP Halladay.
Bottom 8th: Lind leading off. Davies is still out there……112 pitches ??? Don’t they have a bullpen? Lind singles into right. Overbay grounds to third, throw to first one down Lind at second. Barajas strikes out. Bautista two down one on, full count and strikes out. Inglett does not get a chance to improve that .125 average. Davies will have complete game and 126 pitches. Strange decision that to keep him pitching, must remember to check his next game pitch count.

Top 9th: Halladay on 86 pitches. Jacobs, pops up to Barajas, one down. Guillen, pops up to Rios in shallow right, two down for Teahen grounds back to Halladay throw to Overbay. 97 pitch shut out.

Halladay’s tenth win of the season, shutout and his third complete game of the season. Game over in 2hrs and 5 minutes ! Yankees and Boston games are still in the fifth innings.
