Ricky- Jose show today to shut out Rangers and win 6-0

Game two of three. Toronto v Texas. Saturday May 15, 2010

Lineups: Texas: Andrus, Young, Hamilton, Guerrero, Cruz, Murphy, Smoak, Treanor, Blanco.
Toronto: Lewis, Hill, Lind, Wells, Overbay, Gonzalez, Bautista, Ruiz, Molina.

Molina in for Buck defensively to try to get some of these wild pitches that Ricky throws in the dirt. Travis with wrist injury hope that is nothing serious. Big question for me at least do Jays have anything left in the tank after last night’s power surge. Good to see the roof closed this afternoon, even though it is a lot warmer than last night. Strange decision that to leave it open.

Pitching: Romero v Feldman.
Top 1st: Andrus fly ball Lewis to in right field. Young strikes out. Hamilton strikes out.
Bottom 1st: Lewis doubles to left. Fred has been so consistent the last week or so. Has made huge difference in that leadoff spot, not just for his hitting but for his speed. Hill singles to left, Lewis easily to third. Two on no outs and runner at third. Lind, there we go, Adam singles to right, here comes Lewis, 1-0 Jays, Hill at third, still no outs. Wells fouls out to Young at third, no chance for Aaron to come home. Overbay with one down, strikes out. When he was so good last night, always the way. Last chance here for Jays, Gonzalez fly ball to Murphy in left field. Leaving two runners on but disappointing for Jays leaving Hill at third with no outs.

Top 2nd: Guerrero leading off strikes out. Cruz singles to right. Murphy, oh dear, Cruz picked off here, throw behind him to Overbay on to second Gonzalez for out number two. That was not good for Texas at least. Murphy fly ball to Lewis in right field.
Bottom 2nd: Bautista leading off, grounds back to Feldman throw to Smoak at first for one down. Ruiz getting a start tonight with Snider out, strikes out this time. Molina fly ball to Hamilton in centre. This game is humming along compared to last night. It certainly helps when there are no walks. Cecil are you watching?

Top 3rd: Smoak leading off grounds to Bautista at third, throw to Overbay, one down. Treanor strikes out. Blanco, singles to centre. Andrus strikes out. Number four for Ricky. Pitching well so far.
Bottom 3rd: Lewis strikes out. Hill strikes out. Two down for Lind, ground to Bianco at second throw to Smoak for out at third, three up and down.

Top fourth. Young strikes out. Hamilton strikes out. Guerrero grounds to Bautista at third throw to Overbay at first for third out. Yet another quick inning for Romero.
Bottom 4th: Wells grounds to Blanco at second throw to Smoak at first. One down. Overbay same play, grounds to Blanco at second throw to Smoak at first. Two down for Gonzalez grounds to Andrus at short throw to Smoak at first. I think these guys want out on the town tonight, they are really rushing along although it is all relative to last night.

Top 5th: Cruz grounds to Gonzalez at short, throw to Overbay at first. Murphy with one down singles to left. Smoak, wild pitch, Murphy to second. If only Ricky could cut those out. Smoak fly ball to Lind in left. Two down, Murphy holds at second. Treanor fly ball to Lewis in right field.
Bottom 5th: Bautista leading off. OK Jose, here we go, gets hold of this one, home run to left. Jays 2-0. First run given up by Feldman since the first inning. Ruiz grounds to Blanco at second throw to Smoak at first. Molina lines to Cruz in right, error on the play and Molina moves up to second. Lewis grounds to Blanco at second throw to first Smoak, Molina moves up to third but two down. Hill strikes out leaving runner at third.

Top 6th: Blanco strikes out. Andrus grounds to Gonzalez at short, throw to Overbay at first. Young with two down, singles to right. One on two down for Hamilton, strikes out.
Bottom 6th: Lind fly ball to Hamilton in centre, one down for Wells, fly ball to Cruz in right. Two down. Overbay, there we go Lyle, singles to centre. One on two down. Gonzalez singles to left, Overbay to second. Bautista with two on and two down. Just a base hit Jose. Way to go, singles to left here comes Overbay, and scores. Gonzalez moves up to third, Bautista at first for Ruiz, fly ball to Cruz in right field. But Jays have another run and lead 3-0.

Top 7th: Guerrero grounds to Bautista at third throw to Overbay at first. Cruz with one down, strikes out. Number ten today for Ricky. Murphy lines out to Lind in left.
Bottom 7th: Molina singles to left. Lewis lines to Cruz in right, one down. Hill fly ball to Cruz in right. Lind with two down, grounds to Smoak at first to step on the bag.

Top 8th: McCoy in for Lind in left field. Smoak pops up to Hill at second for first out. Treanor pops up Gonzalez at short. Two down. Kinsler pinch-hitting for Blanco. Walks. Andrus grounds to Bautista at third, throw to Overbay at first.
Bottom 8th: Kinsler in at second base. Wells triples to centre. Nothing wrong with Vernon’s speed. Overbay with runner at third, come on Lyle. Grounds to Kinsler at second no chance for Vernon here; throw to Smoak at first for the out. Gonzalez full count and walks. That’s it for Feldman. O'Day pitching. Feldman did a good job resting that Texas bullpen. Bautista great afternoon so far, with home run and single. Two on and one down. YES Jose, her we go again, home run to left field no doubt about this one. Here comes Vernon, here comes Alex, here comes Jose.6-0 Jays. and yet another three run home run for these Jays hitters. Still only one down. Ruiz strikes out. Molina strikes out but Jays have a six run lead and one inning to play.

Top ninth. Romero still out there. He wants to finish this one, his first career complete game if he can. Cito will love it resting that bullpen out there today. Young strikes out, one down for Hamilton strikes out. Two down crowd is on their feet. Guerrero infield single to second. It would be Vladdy to prolong this one. One on two down for Cruz, arguing that strike and here comes manager Washington to separate them both. Here we go grounds it to Bautista at third throw to Overbay at first for the final out and career complete game shutout for Romero.

First time this season Rangers have been shut out. Career high, twelve strikeouts for Romero this afternoon.

The very, very good: Romero obviously a career day for him. Ricky is really fulfilling that show of promise we saw last season. Bautista also a banner day for him. 3/5 with five RBIs. Two home runs.Taking his total to nine, one behind Vernon. Every game it seems to be someone different stepping up, and that is the sign of a good all round team and from one to nine with this lineup so far, Jays hitters have demonstrated their power. I hope there is some left for tomorrow’s game. Give away day, Jays hat to the first 10,000 I hope that means a big crowd, the way this team is playing they deserve a full house but will be satisfied with 20,000.

The good: Only two walks today one to each team. After the last week of walks this is good to see apart from shortening the game.

The bad: Same old, same old. 4/11 with runners in scoring position. The worst was the first inning with Hill at third and no outs. That was not good at all and Jays had better improve that percentage, they cannot afford to do that against the Eastern division teams
