Chicago walk all over Cecil, Roenicke and Janssen.

Saturday May 8.
Third game of four. Toronto v Chicago.

Toronto: Same lineup for Cito. Lewis, Hill, Lind, Wells, Overbay, Gonzalez, Bautista, Buck, Snider.
Chicago: Pierre, Beckham, Jones, Konerko, Rios, Pierzynski, Quentin, Teahen, Ramirez

Pitching: Cecil v Peavy.

Top 1st: Lewis, grounds to Ramirez at short, throw to Konerko at first for the out. Hill pops up to Beckham at second. Lind gets hold of this one high fly ball to Quentin in right. Adam just under it Adam for third out.
Bottom 1st: Pierre, grounds to Bautista at third, throw to Overbay for the first out. Beckham, full count, walks him. One on for Jones, (very) high pop up to Bautista at third, two down for Konerko. Full count, trouble here for Cecil, sure enough leaves it up and this guy makes no mistake home run to left, 2-0 Chicago. Cecil much too tentative there. Rios, don’t finesse here Brett… strikes out but Jays playing catch-up already after one. 26 pitches. not good for a first inning.

Top 2nd: Wells leading off has been very quiet recently. 0-2 count. Count full.
Strikes out swinging at ball outside. Overbay, Cito sticking with Lyle despite his .185 average. Grounds to playing behind first throw to Peavy covering for second out. Last night’s hero Gonzalez, strikes out on pitch high and inside.
Bottom 2nd: Pierzynski, singles to right, Quentin, pops up to Snider in right, one down. Teahen 3-0 count, Cecil not sharp tonight at all. Finally a strike. Full count and strikes out, two down for number nine hitter, Ramirez. 2-2, another full count, this is what is pushing his pitch count up. Fourth player to face Cecil going deep in to the count. Loops it into shallow left but eight pitches for Cecil and no out and the number nine hitter. Pierre again singles to left, bases loaded. Cecil not long for this game. Beckham, walks him another run scores, 3-0 come on Cecil, here comes the coach but maybe a little late here, Cecil is all over the place and does not seem to have any of his pitches tonight. Jones, still with bases loaded and a 3-0 game. Grounds to Gonzalez throw to Hill for final out. But at great cost with his pitch count. I think bullpen will be out there sooner than later tonight unless Jays hitters can get something going against Peavy.

Top 3rd: Peavy a walk in the park so far tonight. Bautista, 0-2 and strikes out. Buck fly ball to right, two down. Snider, 2-2 full count. Lines to Ramirez for third out, far too easy for Peavy even without Cecil. 39 !! pitches.
Bottom 3rd: Konerko, grounds first pitch to Bautista, throw to Overbay for the first out. Rios, fly ball to Snider in right, two down. Pierzynski, grounds to Hill, throw to Overbay for third out. Much better inning but is it too late with the way Peavy is pitching tonight? 69 pitches.

Top 4th: Lewis leading off, good at bat but fly ball to left centre for the out. Hill, in a mini slump right now. Strikes out swinging at pitch way outside. Lind, strikes out looking. Peavy no hitter so far and perfect game. 58 pitches.
Bottom 4th: Quentin, 3-0 count, come on Cito get someone up in bullpen, walks him third walk already tonight, Cecil all over the place. Teahen, grounds to Overbay on to Hill back to Lyle double play rescues Cecil here. Two down for Ramirez, grounds to Bautista ball hits the bag and off his glove and both runners safe, When game is going badly these things happen but Cecil has only himself to blame tonight he just does not have it. Pierre grounds to Hill throw to Overbay for third out. But pitch count getting high for Cecil. 84 pitches, one more inning.

Top 5th: Peavy throwing no hitter here. Wells full count; grounds to Ramirez throw to Konerko at first one down for Overbay. Grounds hard to first (first pitch for Lyle) throw to Peavy easy, easy out. Two down for Gonzalez. Grounds to third throw to Konerko and White Sox players getting ready for an early victory celebration in downtown Chicago. Jays just not putting up any sort of show here tonight.
Bottom 5th: Beckham grounds it back at Cecil off the mound to Hill, no time to throw runner safe at first, it is that kind of night here. Jones, full count, Beckham runner going throw wide and great save by Hill to save it going into the outfield but strikeout and catcher interference called on Jones two down. Konerko, 3-0 count. Full count. Singles to right. Rios, two down and one on. Bullpen working. Grounds first pitch to Gonzalez throw to Hill for the third out. That may have been last inning for Cecil. Seven hits, three walks, three runs, just not his night. 99 pitches.

Top 6th: Bautista, meantime Peavy working on his no hitter and perfect game. Pops it up to Rios in left centre for first out. Buck, takes high strike but Jays hitters should know that Peavy will get those now. YES Johnny Buck, HOME RUN to left, that’s the way to break up a perfect game. 3-1 Chicago. Snider, full count, strikes out but good at bat Travis. Lewis off the end of his bat past Peavy and beats it out, Fred can RUN. Hill, 0-2 count. 2-2 Fred going but Hill fouls it off. Strikes out but Jays get one back and break up that no hitter and perfect game. 90 pitches.
Bottom 6th: I don’t understand you Cito, Cecil still out there? Pierzynski, 3-0 count, count full, fly ball to Wells in centre, one down. Here comes Cito now. Cecil 105 pitches. Roenicke now pitching. Fly ball to Lewis in left centre, it is good to see Lewis and Wells in that outfield with their collective speed. Teahen two down. Grounds to Hill throw to Overbay for the third out.

Top 7th: Lind leading off, terrible lazy swing, no power in it and pops it up to right, one down for Wells strikes out. Seven tonight for Peavy. Overbay lazy fly ball out to left for anemic third out.
Bottom 7th: Ramirez leading off, grounds to third Gonzalez behind third throw to first Ramirez head first slide, gets him. Pierre, bunting, Roenicke throw wild and goes to second on the error to Roenicke. Not Jays night tonight, Beckham with one on pops it up, Roenicke goes for it, he is going to get in more trouble like that, leave it to your infield Josh, two down for Jones, count full. Ramirez will be sprinting home here. Off the wall in centre over Vernon, run scores and triple to Jones. 4-1 Chicago. Konerko, 3-0 count, Roenicke courting more danger here. Walks on four pitches and here comes Jays nemesis Rios. Walton out to talk to Roenicke. Casey Janssen up in bullpen. 2-0 six straight balls. Full count. Doubles down left field line, Jones scores 5-1 Chicago. That’s it for Roenicke a terrible inning’s work. Janssen now pitching. Roenicke’ s outing 28 pitches half of which were balls. No control at all tonight. Casey with Rios at second. 3-0 cannot find strike zone here. Putting him on now. Bases loaded for Quentin, 2-0 count, 3-0 and about to walk in the run. Has not throw one strike yet, there’s one but right down the middle, lucky he let it go. Walks him run scores, 6-1. Teahen 1-0 bullpen working again. Janssen terrible tonight, Lewis warming up. 2-0 count. 3-0 way outside. Walks another one in this time on four pitches, 7-1. Has throw one strike, bases still loaded, Ramirez, ball one, 1-1. I don’t think a batter has swung at one pitch yet, 2-1. 3-1 way inside. 17 pitches two strikes. There’s a strike and a hit. But right at Lewis for the out to put all of us out of the agony. I think Janssen might well be sitting for a long time before Cito calls him again. That has to be the low point this season for the pitchers. 18 pitches and three strikes for one out. WOW that is bush league. Sorry.

Top 8th: It will be interesting to see how many first pitch swings Jays hitters do now next two innings. Peavy coasting out there now 102 pitches Manager wants to give him the ovation. Gonzalez, gets hold o hit on home run to left, 7-2 Jays that’s one answer but too little far too late tonight. Bautista, Bautista grounds to third, drops the ball but still enough time to get Bautista not running flat out there Jose ??? Buck, grounds weakly back to Peavy throw to first for second out. Snider, strikes out, a little inside but Peavy will get them now 119 pitches. Jays may even get a break next inning…
Bottom 8th: Janssen still out there come on Cito, what’s the point? Pierre strikes out but he was ducking out of the way of the pitch and bat went around? ah well Jays will take an out anyway they can tonight. Beckham, grounds to Gonzalez throw to Overbay, two down. Konerko grounds to Gonzalez throw to Overbay, White Sox giving Janssen a break here not taking any pitches to embarrass the poor guy and swinging at his pitches. They want out on the town to celebrate, it’s Saturday night.

Top 9th: Santos now pitching, how many pitches will Jays hitters take this inning? Not many ….. Lewis, 0-2 full count, doubles into left, too little too late here Hill, another ofer night. Grounds to short, throw to Konerko at first for the out. Hill 0-4 tonight and slumping badly for him. Lind, grounds to Ramirez at short, throw to first two down and Lewis at third. Final out, Wells swinging away, Vernon two strilkes goes the opposite field doubles into right corner, Lewis scores 7-3. Overbay with Vernon at second. Not much point in pinch hitting for Lyle (.180 hitter ) this time is there Cito? Those walks by Janssen really hurt now. Lyle 2-2 count, strikes out.

Tomorrow's another day but Jays lose great opportunity to get one back on Tampa as hey lose tonight.

The good: Nothing at all for Jays tonight.
The bad: Where do we start? Pitching pitching and more pitching Cecil, Roenicke and Janssen combined to provide one of their worst performances. Three runs scored with bases loaded walks.
