Power full Jays fire up freezing fans to win big.

Jays v Rangers game one. Friday May 14

Lineups: Rangers: Andrus, Young, Hamilton, Guererro, Kinsler, Cruz, Smoak, Ramirez, Gentry.
Jays: Lewis, Hill, Lind, Wells, Overbay, Gonzalez, Bautista, Buck, Snider.
Pitching: Harden v Cecil.

Top 1st: Andrus singles to centre. Young singles to left, just past Gonzalez at short, Andrus to second. Hamilton singles to centre ball drops in front of Wells in centre, could he have got it ? playing safe I think but bases loaded for Cecil with no outs major trouble and he has one just started. Is this another long night for him? Andrus at third, Young at second. Here comes Guererro. Vladdy loves this set up. Singles to left, here comes Andrus, here comes Young 2-0 Texas and no outs. Kinsler bunting, pitcher Cecil to Overbay for the out at first, Hamilton to third, Guerrero to second. One down, Cruz fly ball to Snider in right, run scores Hamilton, 3-0 Texas. Gierrero at third two down. Smoak fly ball to Wells in centre to end this one but Rangers are already spotted a three run lead.
Bottom 1st: Lewis 3-0 and walks on four pitches. The best way to start the inning. Hill walks, Lewis to second. Harden cannot throw strikes, his team must love him right now. Lind walks, Bases full for Wells. Lewis at third, Hill at second. Vernon grounds to Kinsler at second, throw to Smoak at first for the out but Lewis scores 3-1. One down for Overbay, way to go Lyle, doubles to left here comes Hill, here comes Lind and this game is all tied up 3-3. Cecil feeling much better. Gonzalez fly ball to Cruz in right field. Two down. Bautista 3-0 and walks on four pitches. Buck full count and walks, bases loaded Overbay to third, Bautista to second. Snider strikes out.

Top 2nd: Ramirez leading off, gets hold of this one, home run to left 4-3 Texas just like that after getting back into this game, that is very disheartening and Cecil has to get into this game. Jays had the momentum after that three run inning. Gentry fly ball to Wels in centre for first out. Andrus singles to centre. Young 3-0 and walks on four pitches, Andrus to second. Hamilton strikes out. Two down but look who is here. Guerrero, singles to right, Young to third. Andrus scores 5-3 Texas. Kinsler full count and walks, Guerrero to second. This just keeps getting worse, Cecil has nothing tonight. Cruz, no, doubles to the wall in centre, this is clearing the bases !!! three runs score, a five run inning and eight in two. 8-3 Texas. can you believe it, crowd are furious with Cecil. Smoak strikes out. Cecil is throwing his glove around in the dugout. But that could be what Cito said to him, surely he must be out of the game and rightly so. He could well be on his way to AAAVegas as that is the second lousy outing in a row That was inexcusable after Jays hitters had fought back from 0-3.
Bottom 2nd: Jays playing catch up yet again. Lewis strikes out. Hill grounds to Andrus at short throw to Smoak at first. Lind strikes out. I think they are all shellshocked after that five run inning. Certainly one way to take the crowd out of the game, it is so quiet, not only are we freezing out here we have nothing now to get warmed up about.

Top 3rd: Roenicke now pitching. Trying to hold Rangers bats here and give Jays a chance to get back in this one. Ramirez full count and walks. I don’t think Cito had that in mind Josh. Gentry Roenicke still can’t find strike zone, walks, Ramirez to second. Andrus grounds to Gonzalez on to Hill on to Overbay double play, perfect. Ramirez to third. Young grounds to Gonzalez, Ramirez comes home and 9-3 Texas. Throw wild by Gonzalez error on the play, Young to second. Hamilton strikes out. But Jays deeper in the hole here six run deficit.
Bottom 3rd: Wells leading off fouls out to Smoak at first base. One down for Overbay, OH YES Lyle, this one is out of here no doubt at all, home run Lyle. 9-4 Texas. It’s a start. One down for Gonzalez fly ball to Gentry in centre, two down for Bautista. Jose singles to centre, keeps the inning alive at least. Buck full count and walks, Bautista to second. Two on for Snider. Full count and Travis battling here five balls fouled off all around us where we are sitting. OH MY no doubt about this one Travis has hammered this one to right. This one would still be going east on the 401. Here comes Bautista, here comes Buck and here comes the hero of the moment. Three run home run and this game is 9-7. What a slugfest and Harden looks dazed here and that is it for him. Both starters now gone. Mathis pitching. Two down and bases empty for top of the order. Lewis singles to centre. Hill full count and walks, Lewis to second. Crowd is loving this and you can feel the momentum shifting back to the Jays. Lind with two on, grounds to first, Mathis throw is dropped, Lewis scores, Lind safe at first Aaaron at second, 9-8 Texas. Jays have scored five this inning. Wells with two on and two down. OH MY Vernon, does it again, this one is in the third deck in left, no doubt about it here comes Hill, here comes Lind, and here comes Vernon, three run home run, the second of the inning, and Jays now lead this slugfest 11-9. Jays have scored seven runs with two outs this inning, including two three run home runs and batted around. Overbay full count and walks. Gonzalez strikes out. To leave Lyle out there and end this remarkable comeback inning. I can’t think of too many innings like that one. Eight runs.

Top 4th: Hard to believe we have only had three innings with a score like this. 20 runs already. We are all forgetting the cold now. But still wish the roof would be closed, it is very cold here with that wind. Guerrero leading off, ouch that hurt, I could hear that from my seat, hit by a pitch on his arm. That hurts him but now going down to first. One on, Roenicke has to be careful, these Rangers have some power themselves. Kinsler full count and walks, Cito is seething. So are we. Guerrero to second. Cruz is the go ahead run here, strikes out. Two down two on. Smoak 3-0 and walks on four pitches, Guerrero to third, Kinsler to second. Bases loaded and Cito has had enough that’s the end of Roenicke, Cito is not going to see this one get away. Janssen now pitching. Ramirez sac fly to Snider for second out. Here comes Guerrero and Texas narrow that lead to one. 11-10 Jays. Murphy pinch-hitting for Gentry.
grounds Overbay throw to Gonzalez, Smoak out at second to end this but Texas get one back..
Bottom 4th: Hamilton in at centre field. Murphy in at left field. Bautista fly ball to Murphy in left, one down. Buck singles to left. Snider grounds Andrus at short throw to Kinsler at second, Buck out. Two down. Lewis doubles to left, Snider to third. Two on two down for Hill. NO WAY Aaron, another huge shot to left field this one is out no doubt as soon as he got hold of it, here comes Snider, here comes Lewis and here comes Aaron for three run home run. 14-10 Jays. That is the third three run home run tonight by the Jays. WOW. Lind, he gets hold of one to centre, no doubt about that one. back to back home runs and the fifth home run for Jays hitters tonight. What I like is that Hill, Lind, Wells and Overbay have come through big tonight after such a lousy outing in Boston as well as getting Aaron, Adam and Lyle all moving. Wells grounds to Young throw to Smoak at first.

Top 5th: Janssen still in there. Andrus grounds to Hill throw to Overbay at first for the out. Young fly ball to Snider in right, two quick outs. Hamilton same play, fly ball to Snider in right. Three up and down for Janssen and good quick inning.
Bottom 5th: Nippert pitching. Overbay infield single to short. Lyle having a good night. Gonzalez grounds Young throw to Kinsler, Overbay out. One down for Bautista pops up Young at third for out number two. Buck lines out to Hamilton in centre. Three up and down for change and I think our hearts need some time anyway to settle, this has been one incredible game.

Top 6th: Guerrero strikes out. Kinsler strikes out. Cruz strikes out. Great pitching by Janssen. Cito loves him tonight.
Bottom 6th: Snider leading off singles to right. Lewis fly ball to Murphy in left field. Hill there goes Travis, no throw as the ball is dropped by the catch, great steal Travis. Hill grounds hard to Kinsler at second great diving play by Kinslerand throw to first to get Aaron, ribs him of at least a double and an RBI, Snider to third. Lind lines to Kinsler.for third out. The innings racing along here. Everyone is cold.

Top 7th: Smoak pops up top Buck right at the netting, that was not an easy catch. Ramirez singles to left. That’s it for Janssen he did a great job shutting Rangers down. Rommie Lewis now pitching. Murphy full count and walks, Ramirez to second. Andrus walks the bases loaded Ramirez to third, Murphy to second. I don’t think that is what Cito had in mind here, here he comes. Sorry Rommie to the showers. Frasor now pitching with bases loaded and one down. Young grounds to Bautista he is throwing home to Buck, Ramirez out. Two down although bases still loaded. Murphy at third, Andrus at second. Hamilton grounds to Hill throw to Overbay for the out and Frasor pitches out of major trouble. Nice job Jason.
Bottom 7th: Wells leading off grounds to Kinsler throw to Smoak at first one down for Overbay, great night so far for Lyle. Overbay 3-0 and walks on four pitches. Gonzalez doubles to the wall in right here comes Lyle. 16-10 Jays. Bautista singles to centre, Gonzalez coming home out at home plate just. Bautista to second. Buck strikes out.

Top 8th: McCoy in for Snider in right field. Guerrero leading off another hit, singles to centre.
Kinsler strikes out. Cruz grounds to Gonzalez on to Hill on to Overbay, Guerrero out, Cruz out, double play ball to end this one.
Bottom 8th: Borbon in centre field. Ray now pitching. McCoy pinch hitting for Snider, hammers this one to Murphy in left, just shy of the wall. One down for Lewis, strikes out. Hill grounds to Young at third throw to Smoak at first to end the inning,

Top 9th: Camp pitching to finish this one off. Smoak grounds to Hill at second, throw to Overbay at first. One down for Ramirez grounds to Bautista at third throw to Overbay at first.Murphy strikes out. Jays win big tonight. 16-10Long game but worth it to see that score and the way Jays hitters all of them came through.

The excellent: Five home runs, three three run home runs. Janssen shutting Texas down. Overbay on base all night, single double and home run. Hill home run, Snider home run. Wells home run. Every starter had a hit tonight. But the most important thing to me at least was that this team never seemed to give in. They kept coming back even from huge early deficits.

The good. Much better crowd and the number of special groups.

The concerns: Cecil obviously, second terrible outing and is on borrowed time in Toronto. Roenicke also had a lousy outing although given the win.Rommie Lewis almost gave it way but Cito was notabout to give him the chance.

The other concern was the failure of Jays or Rogers Centre management to close the roof tonight, it really was very cold down at field level where we were sitting it must have been even worse in the fifth deck. The only ones who gained tonight were Mastercard who were giving free blankets for a credit card signup. You could see many people taking advantage of that offer tonight,
