Jays win a thriller with comeback in the ninth.

Wednesday May 5th.

Toronto v Cleveland Game three of series.
Jays going for the sweep.

Lineups: Toronto: Lewis, Hill, Lind, Wells, Overbay, Gonzalez, Bautista, Snider, Molina.
Cleveland: Grudzielenak, Sizemore, Choo, Peralta, Hafner, Branyan , LaPorta, Valbuena, Redmond.
Pitching: Morrow v Carmona.

Top 1st: Lewis, grounds back to Carmona throw to first for the out. Hill, full count. High and inside walks. Lind now come on Adam time to perform. Not like that, grounds to first on to second back to first double play ball.
Bottom 1st: Morrow pitching. As forecast here, Molina in there today, Cito will say night day issue. But Buck is cooling with the bat and too many wild pitches last night that you cannot blame Romero for them all. Grudzielenak, full count. High and walks him. Sizemore, pops it up to Gonzalez behind short, one down. Choo 3-0 count. There’s a strike. Walks him. Two on one down. Peralta, strikes out on three pitches, two down Hafner, strikes out but lots of pitches for Morrow.

Top 2nd: Wells, singles up the middle, how many times have we seen that from Vernon this season ? But great to see after last season continually pulling or striking out at that pitch down and away. Overbay, oh dear Lyle. When oh when will we see you get going. Had a hit last night after Cleveland walked Vernon to get to him but nothing much else recently. Grounds to second on to short back to first another double play. Gonzalez, pops it up to short, for third out. Jays have to stop these double play balls but Lind and Overbay are the culprits.
Bottom 2nd: Branyan, full count, strikes out. LaPorta, strikes out. Valbuena strikes out. Three up and down, strikes out the side. Five strikeouts for Morrow already. Just like Romero last night.

Top 3rd: Now can the hitters give Morrow some support here? Bautista, high fly ball to left this almost out but drops the ball right at the wall. Triple for Jose, Snider with Jose at third, way to go Travis, singles into centre, here comes the run Batista scores and Travis continues that streak. 1-0 Jays. Molina with one on. Travis now .202 average and that is cause for celebration for all Jays fans. Snider stealing and ground ball to short no chance to play at second throw to first to get Molina but they stay out of the double play and Travis has his second stolen base in two games. Lewis high fly ball to right, Travis tags and gets to third. Two down for Hill. Full count. Takes strike three leaving Travis at third but Jays are ahead.
Bottom 3rd: Redmond, 3-0 count. Walks him. Third today for Morrow. Grudzielenak, grounds to Bautista throw to Overbay for the out, no chance to get two. Redmond to second. Sizemore, this is trouble, lines it to the base of the wall in right field corner, Redmond scores easily, 1-1 game. Choo, knocks him down with that pitch, strikes him out, number six. Two down. Peralta fly ball to Wells in shallow centre for third out.

Top 4th: Lind, golfs this one into right field corner just misses foul pole, that would have been a good shot for Adam, this one is ok singles up the middle. One on for Wells, strikes out on the down and away pitch, I spoke too soon. Overbay now, oh come on Lyle, first pitch grounds to first throw to second back to first another double play. No one will want to be on base with this guy hitting behind them. He is just awful, awful…. apart from this first pitch nonsense. Cito will be sending runners on first pitch if Lyle comes up again.
Bottom 4th: Morrow not getting much help from Lyle. Hafner, this one is out of here, deep centre field and Cleveland up 2-1. This magnifies all these double plays. Branyan, strikes out. LaPorta, singles to right centre. Valbuena with one on. Walks him. Two on, Redmond.Whoa that pitch was 97mph. Strikes out. Two down. Grudzielenak, lines to left great diving catch by Lewis, that was big trouble if he had missed that one. that had gone there. 80 pitches for Morrow though.

Top 5th: Gonzalez leading off, very nice Alex, doubles into the left field corner off the wall. Bautista, pops it up to third for first out. Snider, can he bring him in? full count, grounds to second throw to first for the out, Gonzalez at least moves up to third. Molina, now with two down. This will do, singles into centre, here comes Gonzalez and game is all tied up again 2-2. Lewis with Molina at first and two down. 66 pitches. Singles into left. Hill now with two on and two down. Grounds right back at Carmona throw to first for the out.
Bottom 5th: Sizemore, fly ball to Lewis left, one down. Choo, grounds to Overbay steps on the bag at first for the second out. Peralta grounds to Gonzalez at short throw to Overbay for third out. Good three up three down, short inning for Morrow, he needed that.

Top 6th: Lind, we need a big one from you Adam, long time since we saw that. Walks him, ok. Wells, you hit one Vernon. 3-0 count. Walks, oh dear look who is at bat? Overbay two double plays already today. Will Cito send the runners? I don’t believe it Lyle grounds to first throw to second back to first does not get him but that was another double play ball. That was due to Vernon for sliding in hard at second and breaking that up. Lind at third for Gonzalez, oh man lines it very hard at third, great diving catch to rob him of an RBI great catch. Two down for Bautista. Grounds to short, throw to second to get Overbay. Two on and no outs and Jays cannot bring them in. I think I would sit Lyle for a start.
Bottom 6th: Might be the last inning for Morrow, Hafner leading off hits him on the foot. Didn’t move so don’t moan it hurts. Branyan, singles into left, two on and no outs, LaPorta, same situation as jays, singles into left, there’s the difference bases loaded and no outs. Morrow will be lucky to get out of this one, Camp now up in bullpen. Valbuena, pitch way outside, full count. Strikes out. Number nine today. Still not out of it, Redmond, bases loaded one down. Now if this were Overbay batting. Redmond singles into right, runner scores 3-2 Cleveland bases still loaded. Here comes Cito, that’s it for Morrow. Didn’t get much support from his hitters today. 100 pitches nine strikeouts but four walks and loads f full and long counts. Camp now in Grudzielenak grounds to Hill, throw to Gonzalez at second on to Overbay on the other end of the double play for a change. Camp gets out of the inning for Morrow.

Top 7th: Marson in for Redmond catching. Snider, NO WAY… Travis, great swing, hammers this to right, Choo catches it right on top of the wall, robs Travis of a home run, great catch but poor Travis. Molina walks. That’s it for Carmona. Sipp now pitching. Top of the order Lewis with one on. Yes Fred, doubles to the wall into right. Now two in scoring position for Hill. Takes strike three, come on Aaron. Not a good at bat there. Two down now for Lind. Don’t bet on this one. Pops it up to third. Jays hitters having a rough afternoon.
Bottom 7th: Pressure on the pitchers again. The Jays big bats are silent today. Rommie Lewis now pitching. I guess three pitches for Camp are enough today Cito ???? Why does he do this to his pitchers? Ah well not a good day all round for the Jays so far at least. Sizemore strikes out. Choo, fly ball to centre, Vernon has it to make the catch for second out. Peralta, strikes him out. Very nice Rommie.

Top 8th: Jays running out of time in this one. Wells leading off, it had better be at least a double Vernon with Overbay behind you, unless Cito pinch hits for Lyle, that would be interesting. Kearns now in left. Wells at bat, grounds to third, throw gets him at first, one down. Now Lyle, what do you have? At least not a double play .175 average. Singles up the middle, a little late where was this hit in the sixth with two on and no outs ? but we will take it here. Gonzalez finally has someone on base now. That’s it for Sipp. Perez now pitching. McCoy running for Overbay, Alex strikes out. Two down, Bautista, strikes out.
Bottom 8th: McCoy at third, Bautista at first. Lewis still pitching. Hafner leading off. Fly ball to Wells in centre. Branyan, strikes out swinging. Kearns came in for LaPorta defensively. Singles into right. Valbuena, runner going and doubles into left field corner, hit and run works. 4-2 Cleveland. That’s it for Lewis Oh no, not Frasor, why do you torture the fans so Cito? I guess he thinks Jays have lost this one. Marson grounds to Hill throw to Bautista at first for third out.Phew!

Top 9th: Jays down by two and so far not looking good at the plate today. This guy has however and was robbed last at bat. Snider leading off. Grounds to first just beats Travis at first, nice hustle. One down. Buck pinch hitting for Molina. Grounds first pitch (!) to third, throw to first for second out. Lewis final chance for Jays to prolong this one. Way to go Fred, doubles into right field corner. Hill now, hitless today. Runner in scoring position. Great time to break out Aaron. Dream on, 0-2. Whoa you lucky dog… grounds to third and through the legs of Peralta ? Lewis scores 4-3 now for Lind. Error on Peralta. We need some heroics here Adam. OH MY ADAM… YOU heard our prayers this one is out of here HOME RUN to left Hill scores, here comes Lind and Jays are ahead 5-4. WOW!!! Wells lines it at short, off glove of Valbuena and Vernon safe and second error on Cleveland. That was a tough error as Vernon scorched that hit. McCoy now for Overbay. Wild pitch and Vernon to second. No a stolen base he was going. Fly ball to Choo in left for third out but Jays have extended this one in last at bat.
Bottom 9th: Now Frasor can he win this thing? Will win a gold star from Cito if he does. Buck catching. Grudzielenak grounds to Gonzalez throw to Bautista at first. Sizemore with one down. 3-0 count. Pops it up to Hill at second. Two down for Choo, oh dear, doubles off left field wall. Scoring position for Peralta with two down. Grounds to McCoy at third, great play by McCoy and throw to get third out. Wow that was some game. Look at those happy Jays celebrating this one. Jays win 5-4 and sweep Cleveland. Now they can head to Chicago on a high.

The very good: Has to be Lind’s two run home run in the ninth to go ahead and finally win this one. And has to be Fred Lewis with two down in the ninth to get that double to let Lind have his hit. Fred a three hit day today and did it defensively with the glove as well with that great diving catch in the fourth. Hill in the ninth to get on base with two down to let Lind get a bat. Jays get three runs in the ninth.

The good: Has to be Travis again, robbed of a home run by Choo at the top of the wall in right, but hit very well again today and an RBI single in the third to get hom over .200 average for one at bat at least. Let’s give Jason Frasor something today. Pitched well enough to pick up the win at the end. Morrow did enough but had no run support. Bullpen held again 3 2/3 innings with just one run.

The bad: Double play balls, two by Overbay, (almost three) and one by Lind. Sixth inning with two on and no outs and could not bring them in. Hill with runners in scoring position takes third strike. Lind pops up with two in scoring position. Runners in scoring position today ? 2-14. This is why they need last at bat heroics
