Purcey ruins Jose's day

Jays v Phillies at Dunedin.Wednesday March 9th

Phillies return to Dunedin for revenge after last week's thrashing.
Young Drabek pitching against Hamels.
The place is swarming with red (Phillies shirts) that's ok but to see Halladay # 34 is a bit too much for me at least. Not only that but Halladay had excellent outing yesterday against NL division rivals Atlanta.
Today Hamels looking at redemption and gets it with four very good innings. Jays had no answer to him.
Jays pitching today Drabek was excellent for two, Frasor oh soooooo slooow another good inning, as did Scott Downs, those two are fighting it out. But unfortuately Gregg had lousy outing.
Phillies go up two but along comes Jose to do it again. Another home run, his third of the week.
Jays back in it going to the eighth but then Purcey with two quick outs and two strikes gives up the home run. Man that was heartbreaker. Jays do not reciover and lose this one 4-2.

But the good certainly with Jose, young Drabek showing that he is not far off this team and should be interesting to watch in September call ups if not before.
Travis's day excellent in the field, great catch and double play in left centre and another good catch later. Hitting hard and one at least gets through the infield into right. He is showing signs of form and was given great reception after that double play by both the fans and his team mates and I was close enough to see the guy actually grin for the first time this spring.
Randy Ruiz had another strong at bat but that was it for Jays today, their momentum stopped after the day off.

Speed... Jays fans are in for a treat this season with Gathright. Came in late in the game and once he was on first base the opposing pitcher (Ramirez) today was totally distracted throwing over constantly. He eventually stole second but on strike three. However Joey getting some respect, but also another much needed edge for Jays late in the game.

Werth having another rough day for Phillies, he will be shving all that hair off beard and all if he doesn't improve. he has lots of competition out there. Tyson Gilliesis a non-roster player but has shown more pop and speed than Jason to date and John Mayberry jr hammered that ball twice to the centre fence with two doubles that could have been out of there. Would love to see him in Jays uniform in right.

Apart from that a hot day in the sun and a game that got away with Purcey. Sorry David you had yourself to blame today.

Apologies to Downs for omitting him yesterday from the report card. And to the new JP Arencibia NOT Arenciba.Sorry JP.

Just a question but where is Cito each time the anthems are played ? He always appears in right field long after and then ambles in before first pitch.
Too bad, I for one would love to see him lined up with the team. Shows some bond with the team Cito.
