Jays win first of the spring

Jays in Lakeland to viist Tigers.

Jays score the runs in bunches today as they scire two to win in the ninth 7-6. Three runs in the third, four in the 7th and the two that did the damage in the bottom of the ninth.

Arenciba hitting his 2 run home run in bottom of the ninth to win this one.
Notable also for the fans first look at young Kyle Drabek, probably will not make the team in 2010 but a big part of the Jays future.

Rzepczynski’s first outing of the spring provided two shutout innings with only one walk and a single. Zack Johnson gets the win with two innings of relief and four strikeouts.

Jays scored three runs off Scherzer, the new starter from Arizona for Detroit. In the seventh inning Jays bat around against Galarraga with four hits, two walks and scoring three runs in the process.

Six of Toronto’s 15 hits came off Scherzer.

Jays pick up another right hander Casey Fien off waivers from Boston who had been claimed by the Sox on Monday from Detroit. Someone likes him in Jays organization. Lots of competition in that bullpen.

Good to see Brian Dopirak have a two hit game,he had such a great season last year, this guy has impressed at every level he has moved through in the organization and is a future star for the Jays. Along with Brad Emaus who impressed everyone last spring. Brad also had a two hit game today.

What they said: Galaragga: “My slider was not in the strike zone, but I had good velocity.I feel good. I’m healthy and that is most important. I’ll put things together.”
