Jays lose a tough one in twelve but had many chances to win.

Toronto v Cleveland. Series opener.

Lineups: Cleveland: Sizemore, Cabrera, Martinez, Choo , DeRosa, Peralta, Garko, LaPorta, Francisco and Fausto Carmona pitching.
Toronto: The same old…… Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Overbay, Barajas, Snider and Tallet pitching.

The good: Tallet for six at least then destructs in seventh. Bautista with the comeback in the ninth. Jays show fight in the ninth. Jays had lots of hits and outhit Cleveland 16-15 but not at the right time early in game.
The bad: Camp the goat tonight. Three runs in twelfth. League giving up three after one strike away from win in the top of the ninth.

Top 1st: Sizemore. Grounds to Overbay flip to Tallet for the out, close play though. Cabrera at bat one down. Fly ball to Lind in left right at the warning track. Martinez two down. 3-0 count, Tallet can’t find strike zone now. Walks. Choo at bat one on two down. Hits him in the back first pitch, come on Brian, two on now for DeRosa, 2-0, Tallet has lost that strike zone, there’s one. 2-1 count, now full count, strikes out on high ball four. DeRosa would love that one back.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro 3-1 count. Takes third strike. Marco thought it was inside. Hill, cooled off yesterday hitless. Grounds slowly to second and Hill beats out the throw. One on for Rios. Alex hot in last few games (for him at least), but still way off what is expected from him. Only two home runs so far this season, on par for 12 ??? for the season. Grounds it to third, off glove of DeRosa, error on the play but both runners safe. Wells now with two on and one down. Vernon looked very good yesterday. Very aggressive, confident and hitting the ball hard. Fly ball to centre, turns Sizemore around on the catch but Hill doesn’t move, not good Aaron lets have a tag here. But it would also be nice to see double steal before that, then that fly ball could have been run number one. Not Cito’s style. Lind grounds up the middle, Cabrera throw to first and Jays get nothing.

Top 2nd: Peralta, grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay, one down for Garko, pops up to Hill, two down for LaPorta. First pitch pop up, very nice running catch by Overbay in foul ground. Excellent very short inning by Tallet. 25 pitches so far.
Bottom 2nd: Rolen, doubles to the right centre wall. Keeps his head down and drives that one. Nice at bat. Overbay now can he bring him in? Well he moves him over, grounds to second throw to first for first out and Rolen moves up. Runner on third for Barajas, fly ball will do it Rod. That’s just what was ordered, fly ball to left and Rolen scores 1-0 Jays. Two down for Snider, in his own mini-slump right now. First pitch ground out to second. Travis you will not get out of it that way, take a few.

Top 3rd: Tallet with a lead now. Francisco at bat, fly ball to Rios, one down. Sizemore, strikes out on three, that was very nice pitching Brian. Two down for Cabrera, wicked slider, 0-2 count, full count now, Brian is hot and cold tonight. There he goes, strikes out Cabrera.
Bottom 3rd: Top of the order Scutaro, fly ball to Choo in right field. One down for Hill. Singles into left, 2-2 tonight. Rios with one on. Singles into right, Hill to second. Two on one down for Wells, come on Vernon. Fly ball to the Sizemore at the wall in centre, no one tagging again. Come on Aaron. Exactly the same play as in first inning. Lind with two outs and two on. This will do it doubles into left field corner, Hill scores Rios to third. 2-0 Jays. Rolen, two in scoring position, could break this game open here. 3-1 count. 50 pitches for Cabrera, and now walks him to load bases for Overbay. 3-2 count. Pops up to LaPorta in left. Not what we wanted Lyle. 57 pitch count.

Top 4th. Martinez fly ball to Rios, one down. Choo fouls out to Rolen. Two outs DeRosa full count and strikes out. Number four for Tallet tonight. 49 pitches.
Bottom 4th: Barajas lines to DeRosa at third, one down for Snider, strikes out, Travis unhappy guy right now. Scutaro with two down. First pitch swing, fly ball to shallow centre, not a good at bat Marco, needed to slow Carmona down, very quick inning.

Top 5th: Peralta 3-1 count and walks. Number two walk by Tallet tonight. Garko grounds to Rolen, high throw to Hill and pulls Hill off the bag, two on and no outs. Tallet in trouble. LaPorta at bat. grounds to Rolen, throw to Hill only one out. Tallet had his ground balls but infield could not turn two. Runners at the corners. One down for Francisco fly ball to Rios shallow right. Good throw to plate runner Peralta thinks about it but stays put. Two down. Sizemore ball gets away and LaPorta takes second, two in scoring position now. Grounds to Overbay for third out. Tallet escapes bigtime there. 66 pitches.
Bottom 5th: Hill, pops it up to Sizemore in shallow centre. Rios full count, liners it to right centre for Sizemore to run it down. two down for Wells. 0-2 tonight. strikes out.

Top 6th: Cabrera grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay, one down. Martinez lines a bullet to Rolen great catch. Reflex catch. Two down for Choo. 3-0 count. walks on four pitches. DeRosa first pitch swinging for the fences but high fly ball out to Wells in centre. Another good inning for Tallet but hitters have to get their act together. They have had many chances to score.
Bottom 6th: Lind pops it up to DeRosa running in front of home plate. Rolen, grounds first pitch to Peralta throw to first two down. brought his glove at least tonight. Overbay lines it into right first hit tonight. Barajas grounds to Peralta at throw to first and Jays go quietly. This game is racing along….. 1 hr and 40 minutes and six innings. 84 pitches for Carmona.

Top 7th: Peralta 0-2 count, strikes him out. Garko singles up the middle ad there goes Tallet’s no hitter. LaPorta at bat one on. and gets hold of this one and game is tied up 2-2 . Is it ever the way. But Jays hitters can only blame themselves., they have had enough chances. Francisco Bunts and Tallet great throw but not in time. Cito had better get bullpen working, Sizemore lines to right field corner double for Sizemore. Two in scoring position. And still only one out. Cabrera grounds to Scutaro throw home but called safe. 3-2 Cleveland. Martinez with two on and one out. fly ball to Rios two down but Sizemore tags and gets to third. Aaron are you watching ? Murphy and Wolfe working in bullpen. But a little late here Cito. Choo with two on cormers. Grounds to Hill, throw to Overbay
Bottom 7th: Jays playing catch up now but they have been cruising along much too comfortably tonight in my opinion. Will be interesting to see if they have any fight here tonight. Snider definitely overdue. Has looked all at sea at bat at least. Grounds to second throw to first for the out. Scutaro hitless tonight and also struggled yesterday. There he goes, that’s better Marco singles up the middle. Hill with one on and one down. 0-2 count. Hits him. On the shoulder, knocks him down but he is ok. Two on for Rios, come on Alex break this one open. Carmona at 92 pitches. grounds to third throw to first to get Alex. Runners at second and third for Vernon. 0-3 tonight but two long hard hit balls to centre. Yes Vernon… another very hard hit to left single and both runners score Jays go ahead 4-3 and will keep Tallet in line for a win if the bullpen can hold it. That’s it for Carmona also. Tony Sipp now pitching to Lind with one on and two outs. Adam stays with it and singles to centre and Vernon all the way to third. Rolen, with two on and two down. League now up in bullpen. 3-0 count to Rolen. Lines a bullet to DeRosa at third makes a great catch, saves a run.

Top 8th: League now pitching to hold lead for Tallet. Bautista in left for Lind. DeRosa singles to Rios in right. Peralta grounds to Scutaro from his knees throw to Hill and on to Overbay double play ball. That’s the way guys. Garko grounds it to Scutaro, throw to Overbay for third out. Good job by League.
Bottom 8th: It would be good to get some insurance here Jays. Overbay at bat, 1-3 tonight. Strikes out. One down for Barajas fly ball out to Choo, two down for Millar pinch hitting for Snider. Strikes out. League coming out again. Interesting Boston Yankees game just getting underway at 9.30 in New York after rain delay, that will be a long night…

Top 9th: Dellucci pinch hitting for LaPorta. Singles to centre right. One on for Francisco, Barfield pinch runner for Dellucci. Showing bunt. to Overbay throw to Hill covering at first, one down for Sizemore. Camp and Murphy up in bullpen. Fly ball out to Bautista. Two down. Runner holds. Cabrera at bat 0-2 count. Lines it to right, Rios throw up the line and Barfield scores this game is all tied again. 4-4. Alex might have got him with throw to the plate. One strike away from winning this game. Martinez with Cabrera at second, lines this one over head of Wells to the wall run scores 5-4 Indians. Choo singles to Wells another run scores 6-4 Cleveland. DeRosa grounds to Overbay flip to League for third out. Cito will be second guessed for leaving League in for the ninth.
Bottom 9th: Can Jays do it? They need two runs to tie it up. Kerry Wood 5-5 saves. This will be very tough. Scutaro to lead off. And walks. Hill now, bunting will not be enough Aaron, we need two here. He agrees and long fly ball out to centre Sizemore, Scutaro tags and is at second for Rios. This will show whether he really has come around. Singles into shallow centre. Scutaro at third. Two on for Vernon. Wood keeping it outside. And again to Vernon to strike him out. Way outside. Last chance for Jays. Bautista at bat, Alex stealing and in safe at second. Now a single will tie this one up. YES Jose…. Singles to left and both runs score this one is all tied up again 6-6. Clutch hitting bigtime against one of the best closers in the league. Rolen now with chance to do something. Bautista at first, two down. Rolen pops it up to short and we have extra innings. Great comeback by Jays though.

Top 10th: Frasor pitching. Peralta drives to Wells in centre, one down. Garko singles to Rios in right centre. One on one down for Barfield grounds back to Frasor, knocks it down but too late to get runners. Is it better for pitcher to let those through to the infield ? That’s a double play bal. we had similar play at the weekend. Valbuena pinch runner at second, Francisco with two on and one down. Lines it to Wells in centre, two down. Here comes Cito rolling the dice here. Lefty lefty matchup. Murphy pitching, has to throw strikes, no room for error with runner at second. Sizemore lines it into shallow right center Wells makes a great running catch to end the inning.
Bottom 10th: Cabrera in at shortstop. DeRosa in at first base.Peralta at third base. Overbay to lead off. Can Jays do it? Rafael Betancourt has replaced Wood. Grounds it back to Betancourt, flip to Garko at first. Barajas with one down. pops it up to Peralta at third, two down. Millar now doubles into left on Barfield fumble. Johnny Mc. pinch runner for Millar at second. Scutaro now, a single will do it Marco.0-2 count. Pops it up to right for third out.

Top 11th: Camp pitching. Cabrera at bat grounds single into left. One on for Martinez, grounds to Hill on to Scutaro back to Overbay double play ball. Just what the doctor ordered. Choo at bat two down. Grounds to Hill throw to Overbay for the out.
Bottom 11th: Big bats again. Hill to lead off.2-4 tonight. Strikes out. Rios at bat. 2-5 tonight. Betancourt pitching outside to everyone and all are swinging. Strikes out. Wells now, last chance. 1-5 tonight. Singles into centre. Good at bat for Vernon with two strikes on him. Bautista has to keep it going here. Hero last at bat to tie it up. Strikes out. Betancourt strikes out the side.

Top 12th: Camp out again. Crowd very thin now it’s a workday tomorrow, DeRosa doubles into right. Peralta grounds to Scutaro, perfect, runner has to hold at second throw to Overbay for the first out. Valbuena at bat, ball gets away but DeRosa does not risk going to third. 3-0 count. and walks him. Two on and one down. Double play ball would look good right now Camp. Barfield at bat, singles up the middle run scores 7-6 Cleveland. Francisco pops it up to Hill two down. Two on for Sizemore 1-6 tonight. Doubles to right two more runs score as throw gets away from Barajas. 9-6 Cleveland. Sizemore to third. Martinez a nubber in front of the plate, throw to Overbay to get third out but this one is over friends. You can feel the energy go out of the stadium. Probably Camp with it on his way to Triple AVegas.
Bottom 12th: Not many optimists left around now. Rafael Perez pitching Rolen, Overbay and Barajas. Rolen 1-4 with a walk tonight. Doubles to left but they need three runs to tie this one up. Overbay 1-5 tonight. grounds weakly to second, throw to first. One down, Rolen at third but Cleveland will concede runs for outs. Barajas full count. Singles to left Rolen scores. 9-7 Cleveland. Johnny Mc. One hit all season but singles to left, good for Johnny Mc… Runners at first and second for Scutaro? That’s it for Perez, new pitcher Jensen Lewis. Grounds to short, throw to second on to first but Scutaro safe as first base DeRosa pulled off the bag on throw. Johnny Mc. out at second, two down for Hill with runners at first and third, 0-2 count on Aaron. And strikes out.

Tough one to lose but Jays had more than enough chances to wrap this up hours ago. Cito will hope he does not need his bullpen tomorrow.
