Halladay wins number five behind Lind, Hill and Millar's bats.

Toronto v Baltimore at Rogers Centre. Game one of series.
Halladay v Hendrickson. The perfect guy to follow the Kansas series loss and maybe get Jays back on top.

Lineups: Baltimore: Roberts, Jones, Huff, Mora, Scott, Wiggginton,, Zaun, Izturis and Hendrickson pitching.
Toronto: Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Millar, Barajas, Bautista and Halladay pitching
Good to see Zaun back although gets mixed reception tonight, first at bat more applause but after that the boo birds were on him every at bat, however in my area these are the guys who boo anything, every opposition player and even the seagull. I did note though that Gregg had time for his Zaun Nation fans, posed for photos and signed autograph on his way to warm up. As someone noted, wait until A-Rod and Burnett arrive in a couple of weeks…

The very good: Halladay of course after a rough first inning closed Orioles down until the eighth. Lind continues his hot streak with his second home run in two days. Hill as ever 3-4 tonight and Millar for Overbay 3 rbi night with three hits.
Note/Observation. Six players in the lineup have .300 plus averages. Two of the three who don’t… Rios and Wells. Alex now in the .240 range again.

The bad: Play by Rios in the first to allow the double. Ball bounced in front of him in right not catchable but Alex ambling over without any hustle enabled Jones to get to second on the play. Some managers would bench players for that lack of hustle in the first inning…

Top 1st: Roberts grounds to Hill on to Millar. One down. Jones doubles to right. That should have been just a single but the failure of Rios to hustle on that play enabled stand up double by Jones, that should not happen. Alex does have speed and could have been at that ball faster And hold Jones at first. Markakis, makes it academic anyway hitting this one over head of Rios into right field for two run home run. Orioles get early lead 2-0.Bottom 1st: Scutaro grounds to shortstop Izturis throw to first base Huff. Hill singles up the middle, this guy just continues his torrid April streak. Long may it last. Rios strikes out. Wells fouls out to third Mora. The day will come very quickly when Cito will be putting young Snider in number three position.

Top 2nd: Scott singles to centre. Wigginton grounds to Scutaro on to Millar, double play ball. Zaun to very mixed reception but most are giving him a good hand. Doubles to centre, he loved that. Izturis grounds out to Millar. Greg is left stranded out there.
Bottom 2nd: Lind grounds out to Huff. Rolen lines to Scott in left. Two down. Millar strikes out.

Top 3rd: Roberts strikes out. Jones grounds to Scutaro on to Millar. Markakis grounds to Scutaro on to Millar. First three up and down inning for Halladay.
Bottom 3rd: Barajas fly ball to right field Markakis. Bautista grounds to second Roberts throw to Huff at first. Two quick outs for Hendrickson. Scutaro doubles to left. Hill grounds to Izturis on to Huff. Jays are not getting to Hendrickson.

Top 4th: Huff ground s to Millar flip to Halladay for the out. Mora lines to Rios. Two down for Scott, singles to Wells. Wigginton singles to right, Scott moves to third. Zaun with two on and two down, grounds to Scutaro throw to Millar for third out. Boo birds love that.
Bottom 4th: Rios singles to left. His first hit. Wells singles to centre, Rios to second. Two on no outs for Lind, Lind fly ball to Jones, Rios moves to third. Rolen nubber up the first base line, Huff is in to field it and has no play anywhere. Rios scores, Vernon moves to second and Rolen at first. 2-1 Orioles. Millar doubles to right and here come Wells and Rolen chugging in from first. 3-2 Jays to take the lead for first time and Hendrickson is in trouble for the first time this game. Barajas with Millar at second singles to centre, Millar scores 4-2 Jays. Bautista full count and walks, Barajas to second. Scutaro with two on and one out. grounds to Izturis on to second Roberts on to Huff double play snuffs this rally. Déjà vu from yesterday in Kansas. But Jays will take the four runs and the lead.

Top 5th: Izturis grounds to Scutaro throw to Millar, one down for . Roberts, strikes out. Two down for Jones, strikes out. Good inning for Halladay. He is not giving this lead back.
Bottom 5th: Hill singles to centre his second hit tonight. Rios fly ball to right Markakis. Hill is stealing and Zaun throw not in time. I am very surprised that Cito is not sending more tonight aganst Zaun, Wells intentional walked. Lind grounds to Roberts flip to Izturis, Hill to third, Wells out. Rolen hit by a pitch, Lind to second. Hill at third. Millar with bases loaded lines out to Roberts. Missed opportunity there Kevin.

Top 6th: Markakis grounds to Hill on to Millar. Huff singles to right. One on, one down. Mora strikes out. Scott strikes out.
Bottom 6th: Barajas singles to left. That’s it for Hendrickson. Sarfate now pitching. Bautista bunting Barajas to second. Scutaro 3-0 count and walks. Hill fly to right Markakis, Barajas to third. Rios fly ball to centre field Jones.

Top 7th: Wigginton fly ball to Rios. Zaun strikes out. More cheers. Izturis pops up to left field Bautista. Perfect inning for Halladay.
Bottom 7th: Wells grounds to Izturis on to Huff. Lind gets hold of this one and that is out of here in centre, his second home run in two days.5-2 Jays. Good to see him get back on track. Would that Vernon and Alex could do so. Rolen full count and walks. Millar strikes out. Rolen steals second. I rest my case with Zaun throwing. Perhaps this success will encourage Jays runners over the next two games against Zaun’s arm. Barajas doubles to centre, Rolen scores. 6-2 Jays. Bautista hit by pitch. But Sarfate is injured and leaves. Walker pitching. Scutaro strikes out.

Top 8th: Roberts grounds to Scutaro throw to Millar. Jones singles to centre. Jones steals second. Markakis full count and walks. Two on for Huff singles to centre Jones scores, Markakis to second 6-3 Jays. Passed ball that barely goes six feet, Markakis to third, Huff to second. Mora grounds to Scutaro, on to Millar Markakis scores. 6-4 Jays. Scott infield single to Hill, Huff to third. Cito makes a visit bt leaves Halladay out there. One more out, he wants to finish this. Wigginton grounds to Scutaro throw to Hill, Scott out at second. Halladay gets standing ovation.
Bottom 8th: Ray now pitching. Hill singles to centre, his third hit. Rios hit by a pitch, Hill to second. Ray remains in the game although umpire had previously warned both dugouts on the hit batsmen. Three hits on Jays tonight. Wells with two on, pops to Izturis. Lind with two on, singles to right Hills scores and Rios moves to third, Jays get one of those runs back and lead by three 7-4 Jays. Rolen strikes out. Millar singles to left Rios scores and Lind to third. 8-4 Jays.Barajas flies out to Jones.

Top 9th: Downs now pitching. Lead off Zaun, Singles to centre, his second hit tonight. Montanez pinch-hitting for Izturis. Montanez strikes out. One down. Roberts lines out to Rios. Two down.
Defensive indifference, Zaun to second. Jones grounds to Millar flip to Downs.

Jays win another 8-4 and should go back on top as Boston losing badly in Tampa. Barajas and JHill with three hits. Everyone in the lineup with a hit except Bautista. Fourteen hits and four walks put plenty of Jays on base.
Halladay goes 5-1 with the win.
