Cecil wins big, BJ is back and Jays hitters come back to life.

Toronto v Chicago. Game one of four.

Lineups: Chicago: Nix, Getz, Quentin, Dye, Thome, Konerko, Pierzynski, Ramirez, Podsednik, and Danks pitching.
Toronto: Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Millar, Barajas, Bautista and
Cecil pitching. Hill back at second tonight after two unproductive games at DH.

The very good: Hill 3-3 HR. Cecil six great innings. Hitters 6/11 runners in scoring position makes a change from last two games with Yankees.

The good: Scutaro also to set the table. Carlson that eighth inning. And have to say BJ Ryan coming in the ninth to closer it down. Not a save, but the pressure on him would have been far greater. If he blew it this time could have been devastating for him. Now Jays have strong pitching for eight and nine innings.

The bad: Two more double plays by Wells, hitless tonight and also Rios. Neither are pulling their weight in this team consistently yet. It makes the Jays achievements and first position even greater.

Top 1st: Nix fly ball to shallow centre for Wells, one down for Getz. Grounds to Scutaro deep throw not in time to Millar at first. Quentin with one on and one down. Fly ball to Rios in right. Two down for Dye. Grounds to Scutaro throw to Hill, Getz out at second.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro full count, and walks. Hill singles into left, we missed you Aaron last two games not the same as DH. Two on for Rios. Strikes out looking, come on Alex. Wells with one down and two on. Grounds to Nix at third on to Getz at second and on to Konerko at first double play ball. Thanks Vernon. How many is that this season? You have to feel for Jays pitchers with Rios and Wells constant double plays ruining good first innings.

Top 2nd: Thome with shift on full count and grounds to Scutaro ! playing midway between first and second to throw to Millar for the out. Konerko, walks, Pierzynski grounds to Hill throw to Scutaro at second back to Millar, double play ball.
Bottom 2nd: Lind full count, lines it into right. Move him up the order Cito in front of Rios and Wells. Rolen, full count, that was too close Scott. Strikes out. Millar, back at Danks, drops the ball and Lind safe at second but Millar easy out at first. Barajas with runner at second and two down. Exactly the same play, hard back at Danks throw to Millar for third out. Jays already 0-3 with runners in scoring position. Continuing that trend from last two games against Yankees when they went 3-20. Will not win many games that way.

Top 3rd: Ramirez, grounds to third, great save by Rolen and throw to Millar for first out. Podsednik, grounds to Hill throw to Millar, two down for Nix and top of the order. Lines it out to Wells in shallow centre, good inning for Cecil, he is doing his job but bats are silent.
Bottom 3rd: Bautista to lead off. Strikes out that was a wild at bat, swinging wildly at every pitch. Cito time to get Snider back in there to give him some experience with lefties. Scutaro with one down. lines it into left. Hill at bat with one down and one on. Yes Aaron, huge swing and this one is into left field seats second deck. 2-0 Jays. Rios pops it up to second. Two down for Wells. Grounds to second for the out but who needs Vernon and Alex with Scutaro and Hill doing all the scoring ? Hill 2-2 tonight. Just keeps getting better.

Top 4th: Getz at bat, strikes out swinging. One down for Quentin, strikes out on three pitches. Dye fly ball to Rios, Great three up and down inning for Cecil, working quickly and focused. Playing for that rotation spot.
Bottom 4th: Lind doubles into right corner, 2-2 tonight. Rolen, singles to left, Two on no outs for Millar, long, long overdue Kevin. That’s the way Kevin, singles into right, Lind scores, Rolen going for third just safe, that was close Scott, great throw by Dye from right field. 3-0 Jays Barajas with no outs and runners at the corners, gets hold of this one in to left off the wall, Rolen scores, Millar scores 5-0 Jays with no outs, for Bautista. Barajas at second, doubles off the wall in centre, Barajas scores 6-0 Jays. Scutaro with no outs and Bautista at second. That’s it for Danks. Carrasco pitching. Full count. doubles to right centre, Bautista scores 7-0 Jays. Hill 2-2 tonight. Full count after going 0-2. Singles up the middle. 3-3 tonight. Rios hitless. With two on and no outs. Hot on the hand. Loads bases for Wells. Well Alex look at this way at least it was not a double play. Ninth hitter to the plate and still no outs. Vernon hitless does it again grounds to second on to first double play ball, only Vernon can do that so well. Bautista run scores 8-0 Jays. First two outs and here comes Lind who started this inning. Scutaro at third. Long fly ball out to centre. Big damage done this inning. Could have been much worse if Wells had come through. Rios and Wells the only two in the lineup without a hit, Hill already has three.

Top 5th: Thome shift on, grounds to Scutaro throw to Millar one down. Konerko gets hold of this one, HR to left field seats.8-1. Pierzynski singles into right centre, Cecil in his first trouble. Ramirez grounds to Sciutaro flip to Hill on to Millar but Ramirez is a speedy guy and beats throw easily. Two down. Podsednik singles to Wells in centre, Ramirez easily to third. Nix fly ball to Wells for third out.
Bottom 5th: Rolen, Carrasco still pitching, singles through Carrasco into centre field. Second hit for Rolen tonight. Millar oh Kevin grounds to Ramirez on to Getz at second on to Konerko at first double play ball. Barajas at bat with nobody on and two down. Strikes out.

Top 6th: Getz grounds to Scutaro throw to Millar, one down. Quentin full count, walks. Dye with one on and one down. Oh boy this one is out of here, lines one into left field seats, two runs score and Sox 8-3 Jays. Thome lines opposite field single into left through Rolen. Wolfe and BJ Ryan up in bullpen. Konerko, Cecil losing that control here. That’s better pitch strikes out Konerko. Two down for Pierzynski, grounds back to Cecil, throw to Millar for third out. That might be it tonight for Cecil. I am sure that both Cito and JP Riccardi want to see Ryan in there for an inning to see if he really is back.
Bottom 6th: Lance Broadway now pitching, Bautista at bat. 1-2 tonight and walks. Scutaro with one on and no outs. 2-2 and with a walk on base all three times. Not this time, fly ball to centre but Dye takes it at last minute in front of Podsednik. Hill 3-3. Not this time, same play but this time Dye backs off as Podsednik shouts for the ball. Rios hitless tonight . Grounds to third throw to Konerko at first for the out and stays hitless.

Top 7th: Guessed wrong, Carlson now pitching. Ramirez at bat. Singles to right. Podsednik, grounds to Hill throw to Scutaro at second for the out, no chance to double up Ramirez. One down for Nix. Grounds to Scutaro from his knees throws to Hill on to Millar double play ball this time.
Bottom 7th: Wells to leadoff, hitless bigtime and two double plays, not a good night for Vernon with his bat at least, last chance. Stays hitless but no double play this time. Grounds back to Broadway throw to first for the out. One down for Lind. Lind two hits tonight. Camp up in bullpen. Full count on Lind. Should have left that one alone Adam, pitch up and away and lifts it into left field for the out, that was ball four Adam. Rolen also two hits tonight. Strikes out looking. Canadian Justin Morneau has two home runs in New York tonight for the Twins who are leading 3-1.

Top 8th: Carlson still pitching. Getz at bat, grounds to Millar throw to Carlson just gets him at first. That was too close. One down for Quentin pops up to Hill. Two down for Dye. Strikes out on three pitches. That was Carlson at his dominating best. Maybe still smarting a little from his outing against Yankees when he gave up the winning run.
Bottom 8th: Millar grounds back to Broadway throw to Konerko at first for the out. Barajas one down. Strikes out. Bautista at bat. Camp and Ryan up again in Jays bullpen. It will be interesting to see how Ryan reacts to this type of yo yo work. He is more accustomed to the ninth. Prepare for the ninth each time out, not up and down and maybe. Full count on Bautista and walks for Scutaro, fly ball out to Dye in right.

Top 9th: BJ Ryan pitching the ninth, that sounds good. Thome at bat and walks. Pinch runner Lillibridge. Konerko strikes out, that feels very good for BJ. Crowd agrees. Pierzynski strikes out, way to go BJ. Two down one on for Ramirez fly ball to Wells. Jays win this one big.
