Jays awful all round and lose 8-2 to New York but 2-15 with runners in scoring position.

Toronto v New York Yankees. Game two of three.

Lineups: Yankees: Damon, Swisher, Teixeira, Rodriguez, Cano, Cabrera, Gardner, Pena, Cervelli, and Pettite pitching.
Toronto: Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wlls, Lind, Rolen, Millar, Barajas, Bautista and Richmond pitching. Cito makes changes Millar for Overbay and Bautista for Snider.

The good: Scott Rolen with bat and glove and that’s it tonight.
The awful: Jays 2-15 with runners in scoring position, no team will win a game like that. On the other side? Yankees are 6-13 with runners in scoring position and that friends is the story of this game tonight.
The bad Jays had Pettite in the first inning and fail to capitalize, they had him several times but just could not move those runners over. Pitching was just as bad. Richmond was terrible tonight and Murphy also. If they are both moved out of rotation when injuries return they have no one to blame but themselves tonight.

Top 1st: Damon strikes out. Swisher strikes out. Good start for Richmond. Teixeira singles to right. Wild pitch by Richmond, Teixeira to second. Rodriguez 3-0 and walks on four pitches. Two on for Cano fly ball to Wells.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro full count and walks. Hill grounds to A-Rod throw to second Scutaro out .Hill to first. Rios 3-0 count and walks on four pitches, Hill to second. Wells grounds to A-Rod throw to second Cano, Rios out. Hill to third, Wells to first, error to Cano and Hill scores 1-0 Jays. Lind walks, third walk of the inning by Pettite, Wells to second. Rolen grounds back to Pettitte throw to first Teixeira. Jays had Pettite there but could not capitalize.

Top 2nd: Cabrera doubles to left. Gardner gets hold of this, home run to right field and very quickly Yankees go out ahead 2-1. Pena triples to right. Still no outs, this could be bad night for Richmond. Cervelli grounds to Rolen throw to Millar.Pena holds at third, one down. Damon already ! another triple to right, Pena scores and Damon sits at third, 3-1 Yankees. Richmond not fooling anyone here. Swisher grounds to Hill throw to Millar for the out, Damon holds at third. Teixeira doubles into centre, Damon scores. 4-1 Yankees. A-Rod walks. Cano singles t right, Teixeira scores and A-Rod to third. 5-1 Yankees and that is it for Richmond, he was terrible. Chose the wrong game to come unraveled, and now the injuries are returning he will be fighting for his place in the rotation now. Wolfe now pitching. Cabrera fly ball to left Bautista to end this agony. New York lineup bats around and score five.
Bottom 2nd: Millar lines out to Pena at short. Barajas fly ball to centre field Gardner. Bautista grounds to Pena throw to first base Teixeira. Jays go very quietly and quickly.

Top 3rd: Gardner grounds to Hill throw to Millar. Pena strikes out. Two down for Cervelli grounds to Rolen throw to Millar for third out.
Bottom 3rd: Scutaro doubles to left. Hill strikes out. Rios grounds to A-Rod throw to first base Teixeira. Two down for Wells. Scutaro caught off base and has to go for third Cervelli throw to second Cano on to A-Rod for easy out.

Top 4th: Damon doubles to left. Swisher grounds to Millar unassisted, Damon to third. Teixeira sac fly to Wells in centre Damon scores 6-1 Yankees. A-Rod strikes out, crowd loves that.
Bottom 4th: Millar with Rolen at first. Full count and walks, Nice job Kevin. Two on two down and Pettite pitch count over 70. Barajas has the power, can he do it? That would really open this game up again. Yes Rod, singles into centre and Rolen scores 6-2. Two on two down for Bautista, come on Jose.. grounds to Pena fumbles the ball and all are safe. Error to Pena. Bases loaded for Scutaro now. Lines it to Damon. Too bad. 82 pitches though for Pettite.

Top 5th: Murphy now pitching. Johnny Mc . now in for Hill not good, I hope Aaron’s foot is ok. Cano, doubles over head of Bautista in left. Cabrera all these extra base hits are hurting Jays tonight, especially leading off. Grounds to Rolen, holds Cano at second and throw to Millar for the first out. Gardner triples over the head of Wells, Cano scores 7-2 Yankees. Seven extra base hits for Yankees tonight.Pena with one out and Gardner at third. Strikes out on three pitches, two down. Cervelli, full count, grounds to Rolen, dives to save but throw pulls Millar off bag and Gardner scores. 8-2 Yankees. Damon again ! fourth time in five innings. Strikes out swinging. But the damage is done. Jays bats need to get into gear here.
Bottom 5th: McDonald for Hill, grounds to Pena throw to Texeira for the out. Rios now grounds to Pena unable to glove it and Alex safe at first, one on one down for Wells. Fly ball first pitch swing out to Damon. Lind two out and one on, grounds to Cano at second throw to Teixeira for third out. Very feeble at bats by Jays, going through the motions..

Top 6th: Yankees have three triples ! four doubles and a home run (so far in five innings tonight) does not say much for Jays pitching tonight. Murphy still in there eating up the innings. Cito will be saving his bullpen now for tomorrow night’s game. Swisher 3-0 count, Murphy cannot find the plate, grounds to Scutaro throw to Millar one down. Teixeira grounds to Rolen throw to Millar for second out. A-Rod, 3-1 count, and walks for third time tonight. Cano 2-3 tonight grounds to McDonald at second throw to Millar for third out. At least Yankees did not add to the score but Jays bats still have to score which they are finding very difficult tonight so far at least.
Bottom 6th: Pettite at 94 pitches, this could and should be his last inning unless Jays bats continue flailing away at first pitches. Rolen at bat doubles into right. Millar with runner in scoring position. Lines out to Cano in left. One down Rolen holds at second. Barajas same play to left and again Rolen holds. Bautista lines out to Damon in centre. That about sums up Jays hitting tonight. Lead off double and they could not even move him up one base with three at bats and equally important let Pettite finish that inning. 1-7 with runners in scoring position.

Top 7th: League now pitching. Cabrera grounds to Millar throw to League for first out. Gardner still going for the cycle, HR and triple so far, the easy ones to come. League has lost the plate and walks Gardner. Pena at bat, pops it up Rolen makes a superb catch leaning into second row at third. Cervelli at bat two down one on, League still all over the place, but so far Yankee hitters swinging at the bad pitches. Strikes him out but League was very lucky that inning and he knows it.
Bottom 7th: Pettite gone, the first good news Jays have had tonight. Aceves pitching. Scutaro gets under it, head in the air, fly ball to Cano in left, one down. McDonald.grounds to Teixeira flip to Aceves and two down for Rios. I hope Hill is not hurt badly, there is a big hole there number two in lineup. Rios grounds weakly in front of him and Aceves throw to Texeira and Jays go meekly again.

Top 8th: Frasor now pitching. Crowd has melted away and I don’t blame them, I would want my money back tonight. Damon leading off lines at Millar knocks it down and flips to Frasor for the out. Swisher strikes out. Texeira 3-0 count. full count and strikes out looking.
Bottom 8th: Wells to lead off. 0-3 tonight but doubles here. Once again Jays have leadoff at second, can they bring him in this time? Not that it makes any difference to the score. Lind here we go, fly ball to right and no way Vernon is standing there this inning. Tags and fortunately throw is off the mark and slides in easily. Rolen now with Vernon at third. 2-3 tonight. Pops this one up to second no way Vernon can come home. Two down for Millar strikes out. Jays hitters 1-13 with runners in scoring position.

Top 9th: Crowd has disappeared. Camp has the honour of the ninth. A-Rod. Three walks tonight, grounds to Scutaro, throw to Millar for first out. Cano grounds to Johnny Mc, two down, Yankees want out on the town. Cabrera bounces to Camp, throw to Millar and this is over. At least Yankees cannot score any more runs !!!
Bottom 9th: Always interesting to see how this team reacts in hopeless situations. Mostly they start to do what they should have done for eight innings, but I don’t think so tonight. They had more than enough chances throughout the game, they have just been plain bad all round. Albaladejo pitching. Barajas grounds to Berroa at third for A-Rod, long throw to Teixeira for first out. Bautista a night to forget 0-3 but draws a walk. One on one down for Scutaro, 1-3 tonight, will NOT be bunting. 3-0 count, Yankees pitching coach not amused. Full count as Marco takes two, walks. Second walk, but Johnny Mc. Cervillo out to remind him that it is Johnny Mc and no threat, singles ito centre and bases are loaded as Bautista held at third. Rios now, chance to do something. Flails away with head way off the ball. There he goes, grounds to third throw to second and on to first a classic Alex double play ball.

Definitely a game to forget for the Jays tonight, awful, awful…. And tomorrow will be no easier with ace Sabathia. Jays look like losing this series at home and fulfilling the consensus that Jays have been playing weaker opposition for the last six weeks. 20,000 tonight which may have been fortunate for the fans.
