Jays bats star in thrilling comeback to support Cecil today,

Toronto v Cleveland. Number two of two game series.

Lineups: Cleveland: Sizemore, Cabrera, Martinez, DeRosa, Choo, Peralta, LaPorta, Francisco, Shoppach and Reyes pitching.

Toronto: Same old…… Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Overbay, Chavez, (for Barajas) Snider and Cecil pitching.
It will be interesting to see how Jays bounce back from that extra innings loss last night. They want to split this series but it will be difficult with Cecil’s major league debut. Midday game with lots of schools to provide the noise.

The good: Cecil an excellent outing and deserved the win, but he will take another chance in five days instead. Lind and Rolen with back to back home runs. Lind with five rbis, Snider and Scutaro with two hits each.Toronto RHP Richmond is chosen AL Rookie of the Month for April after going 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA in four starts. Everyone had a hit except Vernon. He is saving them for the west coast trip.

Bad: No nothing today. The W is what counts today.

Top 1st: Sizemore strikes out. Cabrera singles to centre. Martinez singles to left, Cabrera to second. DeRosa fly ball to Rios, two down Cabrera to third. Choo strikes out.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro singles to centre Marco continues to shine in leadoff position. Wonder what would have happened last season if Eckstein was not around. I am sure that Hill wonders as well. Hill fly ball to Francisco. Rios one on one down strikes out. Scutaro caught stealing, for third out.

Top 2nd: Peralta strikes out. LaPorta hit by pitch. One on one down for Francisco singles to left, LaPorta to third. Ball goes though Snider to the wall, error on the play and LaPorta scores. 1-0 Cleveland. That is tough on Cecil. Francisco to second. Shoppach at bat, Francisco steals third. They are running on Chavez but he has great arm beware. Shoppach hit by pitch, that is second guy hit by Cecil. Sizemore with two on and one down and runner at third. Grounds to Overbay, throw to Scutaro to get Shoppach, Francisco comes home 2-0 Cleveland. Cabrera at bat, there goes Sizemore but I told you, Chavez has an arm and gets him at second.

Bottom 2nd: Cecil needs some help here hitters. Wells fouls out to Shoppach. Lind singles to left. That’s the way Adam. Rolen lines to Sizemore in centre field. Lind holds, two down for Overbay, Lyle doubles to centre, here comes Lind and Jay get one back 2-1 Indians. Chavez grounds to Cabrera throw to first base Martinez for the third out.

Top 3rd: Cabrera grounds to Rolen throw to Overbay. One down. Martinez fly ball to Wells. DeRosa strikes out. Good inning.Cecil settling down. First three up and down inning.

Top 4th: Choo strikes out. Peralta singles to centre. LaPorta strikes out. Francisco grounds to Rolen throw to Hill to get Peralta for third out.
Bottom 4th: Rios strikes out. Wells grounds to DeRosa throw to first Martinez for second out Lind fly ball to Francisco in left. Jays go far too quietly.

Top 5th: Shoppach hit by a pitch. Third hit batsman today by Cecil. Sizemore grounds to Hill throw to Overbay, one down, Shoppach to second. Cabrera fly ball to Wells. Two down for Martinez grounds to Scutaro on to Overbay. Cecil has done a great job, more than expected in a debut.
Bottom 5th: Rolen strikes out. Overbay strikes out. Chavez grounds to Peralta on to first Martinez. Three up and down. Reyes has stymied Jays so far today.

Top 6th: Cecil still out there. DeRosa singles to left. Choo grounds to Hill throw to Scutaro on to Overbay, double play ball. Peralta doubles to left. Fortunate that double play just cleaned the bases. LaPorta one on fly ball to Wells. And Cecil has six innings with no major problems and Cito will be happy with giving up only two runs.
Bottom 6th: Snider 0-13, breaks it up with single to right. Travis is happy guy. Scutaro bunting to third and safe at first, Snider to second. Great bunt Marco. Jays have something going. Hill strikes out. Rios grounds back to Reyes throw to Martinez for second out Snider to third, Scutaro to second. Two on for Wells, 3-0 count and walks on four pitches. Bases loaded for Lind. Yes Adam, singles to centre, Snider and Scutaro come home Wells to third and Jays are ahead 3-2. Rolen two on and two down, fly ball to right LaPorta. Cecil in line for the win.

Top 7th: That’s it for Cecil, did a great job for six in his major league debut. Everyone will be pleased with that. Frasor now pitching. Francisco grounds to Rolen on to Overbay, one down.
Shoppach singles to left. That’s it for Jason. Carlson now pitching. He has been use a lot this week. Cito has to be careful he doesn’t blow his arm out. Sizemore singles to right, Shoppach to second. Cabrera singles to left, Shoppach to third, Sizemore to second. And just like that Carlson has loaded the bases with no outs. This is big trouble. Carlson still in there to face Martinez, singles to left, Shoppach scores and the game is all tied up at 3-3. That is the first run off Frasor this season in eleven innings. Bases still loaded Sizemore at third, Cabrera at second. DeRosa grounds to Carlson comes home to Chavez, Sizemore out, Cabrera to third, Martinez to second. Wild pitch by Carlson, Cabrera comes home 4-3 Cleveland. Martinez at third, DeRosa to second. Choo full count and walks, this is not Carlson’s day. He may be pitched out. Cito agrees and here comes Wolfe. His first appearance since recall from Triple A Vegas last Friday. Peralta singles to Wells, Martinez scores, DeRosa scores 6-3 Cleveland. This is like last night’s game. Choo at second. LaPorta lines to Rolen. But Cleveland score four and have taken the lead for Reyes.
Bottom 7th: Perez now pitching. Jays have to get a couple to get back in this one. Overbay grounds back to Perez throw to Peralta to Martinez for the first out. Chavez singles to right. Snider singles to left, Chavez to second. Two on and one down. That’s enough for Perez. Chulk now pitching. Scutaro full count and walks bases loaded for Hill. Aaron hitless today singles to centre, Cahvez and Snider score this is a one run game 6-5 Indians. That’s the end of day for ex-Jay Viinnie Chulk, Lewis pitching to hitless Rios. There you go Alex, singles to centre. Scutaro scores and this game is all tied up, 6-6. Hill at second, Rios at first and still only one out for Vernon, also hitless today. Wells fly ball to left field Francisco. Sipp now pitching. Wedge will have no bullpen left if this game goes into extra innings like last night. Lind with two on, YES gets hold of this into right field second deck seats, Hill and Rios score, three run homer and Jays are now out ahead 9-6 Jays. Rolen hitless, full count and YES Scott, gets hold of this one and into Jays bullpen. Back to back home runs and Jays take a four run lead 10-6 Jays. Rolen's home run is his first since April 15 at Minnesota. ... Overbay grounds to Martinez at first. Seven run inning and to regain the lead.

Top 8th: Francisco singles to centre. Shoppach strikes out. That’s it for Wolfe. Downs now pitching. Should be fresh he didn’t pitch last night. Sizemore strikes out. Cabrera grounds to ed Hill throw to Overbay for third out.
Bottom 8th: Kobayashi pitching. Chavez fly ball to right LaPorta. One down. Snider strikes out..Scutaro fouls out to Martinez.

Top 9th: Downs to try to close this one out.Martinez singles to right. DeRosa strikes out. Garko pinch-hitting for Choo. Garko grounds back to Downs on to Overbay, Martinez to second. Peralta strikes out. and Jays win another, Cecil had a great debut, the bats rescued him and bullpen finished it off.

Now the West coast for series with the Angels and Jays will see some real speed in the bases for first time this season.
