Jays bats explode for 11 as they take the series behind Romero win

Jays v Rangers. Game three and finale of series. How will Jays do today after last night’s dramatic walk off home run by Lawrie? Getaway for the west coast ten game road trip so they will not want to go out on a downer. If they are not pumped up today after that game they never will be. Bats came alive for Johnson and Bautista and of course Lawrie. They had an excellent game from young Hutchison, one lousy inning but I think everyone was pleased that he kept his cool and composure and shut Texas bats down in what could have been a blowout. Everyone all over Cordero for blown save but I don’t see anyone talking about the blown save by Adams. A great win over a strong hitting side who had previously only lost one game on the road this season. Jays will try to make it two today and take the series. They have their best guy to do it in Romero. School day, can Jays feed off the emotion of thousands of very loud fans. Great atmosphere but when they are losing the 10th man is taken out of the game which is too bad. Lineups: Rangers: Kinsler, Andrus, Young, Napoli, Cruz, Torrealba, Gonzalez, Snyder, Gentry and Harrison pitching. Jays: Johnson leading off, Escobar, Bautista, Encarnacion, playing at first, oh no. Francisco, Lawrie, Thames, Arencibia, Davis and Romero pitching. Lefty lineup for Farrell. No Lind, no problem with that, but not Rasmus and Mathis. Top 1st: Texas wants to get going early here against Romero and not let him settle in, plus take the crowd out of the game. Kinsler, fly ball to right for Jose to make the first out. Andrus, singles to Davis in centre. Young, singles to Bautista, throw to third, Andrus safe at third. Napoli with Romero in trouble early. Grounds to Lawrie, throw home, they have Andrus in rundown and tag him out. Young to third, two down. Cruz, 1-2 count, grounds to Escobar throw to second to get the force on Napoli. Rangers strand two and Romero gets out of his early trouble. 18 pitch count. Bottom 1st: Johnson leading off. Matt Harrison pitching, 2-2 count. pops it up to Snyder in left, one down. Escobar. Pops it up to second for the out. Bautista, will be interesting to see him today after that rocket home run last night. 1-2 count, pulls it to Young at third, long throw for the out. Jays go quietly and in only 12 pitches. Top 2nd: Torrealba, grounds first pitch to Escobar, throw to Encarnacion for first out. Gonzalez, pops it up to Johnson for second out. Roof open today and the sun is giving everyone problems on the fly balls and popups today. Snyder, first major league start, WOW, hammers this to centre and over the fence, home run not bad for his first at bat. 1-0 Texas. Gentry singles to centre. Top of the order Kinsler. Grounds to Lawrie, throw to Encarnacion for third out. 29 pitch count. Bottom 2nd: Encarnacion, 1-2 count, pops it up to Snyder in left, one down. Francisco, DH today. 1-2 count, singles over short stop into left. One on for Lawrie, ball gets away and Francisco to second. 2-1 count, grounds to third, throw to first, two down. Francisco stays put at second. Thames, ball high full count, strikes out swinging over ball four. 30 pitch count. Top 3rd: Andrus, 2-1 count, pops it up to Encarnacion for first out. Young, full count, strikes out swinging and that was after a 3-0 count. Napoli with two down, 2-2 count. Strikes out swinging. 47 pitch count. Bottom 3rd: Arencibia, full count. Grounds to third off the glove of Young into left, single for Arencibia, good at bat, took ten pitches off Harrison. Davis, 2-2 count, grounds to second, throw to the bag back to first but you are not doubling up Davis. One down one on for Johnson. Watch Rajai at first to upset Harrison now. Throwing over to try to hold him at first. WHOA Johnson gets hold of this one. Pulls it high and deep to right, home run off the facing of third deck. 2-1 Jays. Escobar. Grounds it to third, through Young’s glove into left field corner, Escobar lumbers to second, that was a triple for Lawrie, Davis or Rasmus. Bautista with Escobar in scoring position. 3-0 count, a little gun shy of Jose . Hammers it to left but right at Young for the catch. He makes that one. Two down for Encarnacion. Full count, takes strike three. 61 pitch count. A 31 pitch inning for Harrison.Ouch. Top 4th: Cruz, pops it up to Bautista in right, one down for Torrealba. 0-2 strikes out swinging, two down for Gonzalez. Pops it up to Thames in left. Pitch count 54. Seven pitch inning. That helps Ricky. It also gets the hitters back at Harrison fast after his long inning. The intangibles. Bottom 4th: Francisco, 3-1 count, down and in takes ball four. One on for Lawrie. 0-2 count, takes strike three. One on one down for Thames. Drives it into right Francisco had to wait but makes it easily to third, Thames at second. Arencibia, hammers it to left, off the bullpen wall. Just missed fence, here comes Francisco, here comes Thames and Jays are out 4-1. Arencibia at second, one down for Davis. Grounds back up the middle Arencibia holds and Davis safe on the throw. Two on two down for Johnson. Kelly can break it open here. Full count. Takes ball four low. Bases loaded one down for Escobar. Bullpen working for Rangers. Outside ball one. 3-0, with Jose on deck. Takes it for strike. Full count, this will do drives it to right centre wall and here comes all the base runners, Arencibia, Davis and Johnson, triple for Escobar. 7-1 Jays. This game is blown wide open by Escobar. That is it for Harrison. Bautista with Escobar at third and only one down. Scott Feldman. 2-1 count, this is ok, fly ball to centre for the out and Escobar scores 8-1 Jays. Two down for Encarnacion. 2-2 count, fly ball to Gentry in centre for third out. Top 5th: Rasmus in centre for Davis. Snyder 3-1 count, outside ball four. Ricky off here to start the inning. One on for Gentry. Another 3-1 count, has lost the strike zone, way outside ball four. Back to back walks. Here is Bruce Walton. Kinsler with two on and nobody out. Need a ground ball here badly. 3-1 count. about to load bases with nobody out. High ball four. That is awful. Get the bullpen working Farrell, there it goes. Andrus, ball one, he is unable to throw strikes here lines it to centre, over head of Rasmus to the wall, here comes two runs, 8-3 Jays. Young with both runners in scoring position. 0-2 count. Loops it into shallow right, here comes another run, 8-4 Jays and still no outs. Two on for Napoli. Fly ball to Rasmus, another run scores 8-5 Jays, one down for Cruz, 2-0 count, awful, not the ace today Ricky. Pops it up to Thames, for only the second out. 25 pitches so far. Torrealba, grounds to Lawrie, throw to second to get Young. 80 pitch count for Romero 26 pitch inning that has changed the game again. Rangers right back in this instead of Romero slamming the door. Bottom 5th: Pressure back on the Jays hitters now. Francisco, bounces to short, throw to first, one down. Lawrie, 1-2 count, takes strike three. Two down, Thames, Feldman showing Romero what to do. Crowd is also taken out of the game when they were cheering loudly earlier. 3-1 count, low ball four. One on two down for Arencibia. 2-2 count, outside ball three. Thames will be going. Off the end of his bat, Feldman tags him out. Top 6th: Which Romero will turn up? Will be on a very short leash this inning. Gonzalez leading off. Pops it up to Arencibia. One down for Snyder. 1-2 count, strikes out swinging. Two down for Gentry. 2-2 count, off the end of his bat in front of the plate, Arencibia throw to Encarnacion for third out. Much better inning for Romero. 92 pitch count. Bottom 6th: Rasmus. Full count, strikes out swinging, one down for Johnson. 2-0 count, pops up to Gonzalez at short, two down for Escobar. 2-1 count. Shatters his bat as he singles off the glove of Napoli at first. One on two down for Bautista. 3-1 count. Feldman tentative here against Jose. Ball four. Two on two down for Encarnacion 0-3 today. YES, Edwin, hammers this one, first pitch into the second deck in left, no question. Escobar scores, Bautista scores and Edwin three run home run to get back to a six run lead. 11-5 Jays. Francisco singles into centre. Lawrie, Full count. Grounds to Gonzalez, throw to first. Top 7th: Romero now with a six run lead, please do not blow this one Ricky. Kinsler, grounds to Escobar, throw to first, one down for Andrus. Grounds up the middle, under the glove of Johnson. Error on Kelly. One on one down. Young. Wild pitch and Andrus to second. JP’s defensive weakness. Grounds to Johnson, makes the play this time and throw to first for second out. Andrus to third. Napoli. Hammers it to left but Lawrie makes great catch to save Romero here. 101 pitch count. Bottom 7th: Mark Lowe now pitching. Thames leading off. 2-1 count, grounds to first, off glove of Napoli at first, dives head first but throw beats him. One down for Arencibia, 2-2 count, bounces to Young at third, throw gets him at first, two down. Rasmus, 3-1 count, lines it to left but Snyder has it for the out. Top 8th: Romero starting out at least. Cruz leading off. Grounds to Escobar, throw to Encarnacion, one down. Torrealba, full count. Strikes out swinging. Two down. Gonzalez, 1-2 count, way outside but he swings at it in the dirt to end the inning. 114 pitches. Bottom 8th: Koji Uehara now pitching Johnson leading off. 1-2 count, strikes out swinging. One down for Escobar, has had a good afternoon 3-4.Not this time as he grounds to short, throw to first for second out. Bautista, 0-2 count. strikes out swinging. Top 9th: Joel Carreno now pitching. Murphy pinch hitting for Snyder. Takes strike three, three pitches. One down. Moreland pinch hitting for Gentry. Full count. Pops it up to Thames in left, two down. Kinsler, 1-2 count, strikes out swinging. Jays win big and also takes the series. Who would have thought of that on Monday? Great back to back wins for Jays and they head out west with hot bats. The very good: Hitters once again. Johnson, Escobar, Bautista, Encarnacion, Arencibia. Even Ben Francisco had two hit day. Romero hot and cold. One lousy inning after the Jays had taken the great lead. May have been the cold today, roof open and sitting through the long inning..
