Jays hitters get to Hughes but cannot support fine effort by Reyes.

Jays v Yankees. An unusual (for the Jays at least) night game in Tampa.

Line-ups: Jays: Davis, Escobar, Bautista, Lind, Hill, Encarnacion, Snider, Rivera and Molina with Reyes pitching.
Yankees reply with: Jeter, Swisher, Teixeira, Rodriguez, Cano, Jones, Posada, Martin, Gardner and Hughes pitching.

Bad start to the day for Jays to put Morrow on 15 day DL. For many fans in Dunedin this spring, Morrow is the number one with Romero apparently unable to cope with the role in his last two starts, despite the illusion that some feel he had a great start. Not the two games I saw him pitch. However it is not good to see Morrow on the DL and we hope he will be back in rotation quickly. The Jays meantime now have to find replacement and tonight Jo Jo Reyes gave a strong audition performance.

Jays get to Hughes and go out quickly 3-0 into the 7th until the wheels fell off and Yankees score 4 to go out ahead and finish this one 5-4..

The excellent: Jo Jo Reyes six great innings to stake a place in rotation
The very good: Hill responding to the increasing doom and gloom forecasts on his future with Jays, an RBI double and sac fly tonight. I think all Jays fans would love to see Aaron have a career season. Bautista also with stolen base and an rbi and sac fly.

Two hit game for Escobar. Doubles for Hill, Encarnacion, Bautista and Davis.
Jays tag Hughes for eight hits but only three earned runs.

Runners in scoring position tonight for the Jays 2-6, and actually the Yankees were much worse going a terrible 1-8.
Purcey takes the loss and Ledezma gives up an insurance run to make it 5-3 in bottom of the 8th. Jason Lane gets on base in the ninth with a single off Logan but Jays could not bring him in.

Not good: Thames pinch running for Snider in the 7th gets caught stealing.

However overall I think Jays management will be very relieved that they may have another guy for the rotation whilst Morrow is out.
Snow in Toronto today, must be opening day soon.
