Awful. Jays run wild but unable to hit.

Jays v Rays in Port Charlotte. Second game of back to back.

Morrow did not go to this one although it was his turn. Official story is that they did not want Rays to get familiar with him as he had pitched against them last week and they have so many in the season.

No friends, no question today, this was one UGLY game. Jays lose 3-2 in eleven.
Forget the hundreds of stolen bases and the great pitching this game was blown big-time for the second consecutive day in Port Charlotte and for the second day in extra innings.

Yes there were some positives, but once again we have a team that appears unable to bring in runners in scoring position. As with last year when game after game we saw that, this Spring is looking awful similar.
The problem obviously lies in the minor leagues coaching staff, they have to get these kids to do the obvious, learn how to bring a runner in.

Jays ran wild today, incredible base-running but all to no effect
They had some great pitching but all to no effect.
They had the Rays beaten for the second day in a row, all to no effect.

Culprits today, well start with Jeroloman who went 0-5 today. I am sorry but NO professional player should do that period. Bus ticket to Vegas if not New Hampshire tonight. No excuses.

The very good: The stolen bases were undoubtedly the highlight. Not sure what happened here today, but it was not the Blue Jays of old we were watching today in terms of running bases. Definitely not a Cito team. NINE, yes nine stolen bases including TWO double steals.... Three stolen bases by Anthony Gose, I just cannot wait until he gets to Toronto, this kid is the real thing friends. Plus we must not forget the two caught stealing, by my math that makes 11 attempts... I can recall weeks without any attempt. Long live King John.

The good: Pitching. Cecil with his three innings of fast and scoreless work. Rays get to him in the fourth and score two but he still had a good outing. Francisco, Villanueva and Ledezma had scoreless innings to no avail. Multi hit games from Escobar and Diaz. A hit and walk for Arencibia, all small steps for J.P. Cecil a great outing, hitless in three,

The very bad: The goats today besides Jeroloman were too many to list. But time after time, 14 to be precise, Jays left runners out there. Two double steals put runners at second and third with only one out, and Jays hitters could not bring them in, not even a measly bunt.
Cooper had a great chance to showcase his stuff but left three out there as did Mastroianni.
Bautista, Budde and Thames left two out there but the Big Billy Goat Gruff today was Jeroloman who left six, yes SIX players on base with his zeros five times over. Come to think of it why did Manager Farrrell not pull him earlier. In total Jays hitters left 24, hard to believe, 24 players out there on base, that is bush league. 3-14 with runners in scoring position.

But when we get to the 9th and 11th, the roof falls in for the second day in a row as Henn and Perez give up the important runs. Perez with two out in the 11th.

This one leaves a lousy taste in the mouth. Jays have a lot of work to do and on the basics.

Next game up Yankees in Dunedin.... Wonder whether Cameron will be there, but we may not see A-Rod as it is an away game.
