Cecil falls apart in the sixth as Jays lose to Braves 5-3

Jays v Braves in Dunedin.
Two ex-Jays visiting with Hinske DH and Gonzalez at SS.

Starting lineups: Braves: Young, Gonzalez, Heyward, Uggla, Hinske, Ross, Freeman, Lucas and Mather. Jurrjens starting.
Jays: Patterson, Escobar, Bautista, Lind, Hill, Encarnacion, Snider, Rivera, and Arencibia with Cecil pitching.

Cecil gets a great start going five, but then falls apart in the sixth giving up two but the floodgates are open and five runs score all off Cecil. Finishes with 5.1 innings, six hits, five hits five strikeouts and no walks. The bullpen Hinckley, Richmond, Rzepzynski and Rauch stop the rot and close them down but the damage is done in just one inning.
A three run home run by Dan Uggla did the major damage. Jays lose this one 5-3.

The good: Home run to Bautista his third of the spring but unfortunately a solo shot.
Double today to Rivera, Hill another single, Encarnacion and Rivera all with singles. Thames pinch hitting for Lind gets another rbi. Arencibia and Rivera in double steal in the fifth inning after Arencibia was hit by Abreu in the fifth. Patterson another hit in the third. Stansberry triple leaves yet another at third.

Some great defence today. Arencibia gets Young with throw to second. JP is gradually getting that percentage up.
Cecil also gets a nice pickoff.

The battle between Escobar and Gonzalez playing against their old clubs. Alex gets a hit but Yunel is having much better spring in terms of average hitting almost 100 points higher. .380 against .288.

The very bad: Runners in scoring position. 0-7 today, has this been getting worse or is it my imagination? But whatever it is a serious problem for Jays that must not carry into regular season.

Other not so good news. Brett Lawrie sent down to minors, in my book he had earned the place on roster over McCoy, who went hitless in his two at bats and picked up his second error today. Lawrie will be a keeper one day; he has age on his side definitely over McCoy and he hustles on every play, he really wants to be out there. The only good part of this is that Brett will play every day in the minors as opposed to sitting on the bench all season. With luck Jays fans will see him in September call up if not before. He is one exciting young player for the future.

Jays fall to .500 at 12-12 and the Braves go 15-9.
