This is revenge day I hope for the last two extra inning losses by the Jays in Port Charlotte.
Rays bringing the big guns, both Damon and Manny playing and drawing big crowd at batting practice.
Rays lineup: Zobrist, Damon, Longoria, Ramirez, Dan Johnson, BJ Upton, Sean Rodriguez, Kelly Shoppach, and Beckham.
Jays reply with Davis playing in right today, Escobar, Snider DH, Bautista at third ,Thames in left, Arencibia, Corey Patterson in centre, Cooper at first, Johnny Mc. at second and Morrow pitching second start.
More cuts today to the Spring roster. Minor league camp for Hechaverria, Jeroloman, pitchers Perez, Ray and Roenicke and outfielder Moises Sierra. Getting tighter for those remaining.
The best sight of bp.... Aaron Hill taking both hitting and fielding and looking good. Maybe we will see him this week. Tuesday would be good against the Phillies...
Sellout crowd today and most are (VERY) noisy Rays fans.
Jays give up early run in the first through error by Escobar, rushing a simple out. But storm back and win this going away
9-3and stretch their Spring record now to .500 at 8-8.
Home runs from Bautista, no doubt about it as soon it left the bat, and Eric Thames with Lawrie on base, hits up and down the lineup today and everyone in the starting lineup with hits today. Good to see Arencibia with another strong hit. Jays end with 14 on the day to go with the 17 against the Yankees yesterday. Power indeed.
Cooper, Snider and Bautista all with two hits today. Doubles to Arencibia and Escobar. Sac flies to Bautista and Thames. Only one stolen base today by Escobar this time.
Runners in scoring position much better today at 3-8. Rays were worse at 2-9 which will not make Joe Maddon a happy guy tonight.
Rays were not in this game after the first inning.
Great running catch defensive play in right by Rajai Davis. Nice double play by Lawrie, Diaz and Cooper.
Morrow four innings and six strikeouts and only two runs. Looked good despite getting hit on the pitching shoulder. The balk called lead to one run, another run was a result of Escobar error in the first. 1.29 ERA. Rzepczynski just as good in relief, for three hits and only one run. Villanueva with scoreless inning, he still has a 0.00 ERA. Casey Janssen finished it off and gave up one run.
For the Rays Damon had a hit but Manny was hitless and flailing and missing against Morrow.
The Jays took the big crowd out of the game quickly which was definitely to their advantage.
The downer, the Kindlers are back in front of me.... fortunately they brought friends with them today and kept their Kindles hidden. I think I will spill beer on them next time they bring them out.
Tuesday the Phillies are in town again.
