Ryan makes this one very close but Jays win another for Halladay.

Toronto v Cleveland.

Jays win this one 5-4 but BJ Ryan gives up three runs in the bottom of the ninth to make it a much closer game than it should have been. Frasor finishes it off.

The good: The bats once again and Halladay winning battle with Lee for bragging rights. He would love that especially in Lee’s back garden. Lee is winless so far. Halladay goes to 2-0. Scutaro making a solid start to playing leadoff. Lind continuing his great play. Ditto Rolen, Millar, Hill and half a gold star for Alex today.

The bad: BJ BJ and BJ… what to do ???

Lineups: Toronto: Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Millar, Barajas, Bautista and Halladay pitching
Cleveland: Sizemore, DeRosa, Martinez, Choo, Peralta, Garko, Shoppach, Francisco, Cabrera and Lee pitching.

Top 1st: Scutaro leads off with walk, he is developing into a good leadoff guy. Hill singles to right, Scutaro to second. Wild pitch now by Lee, Scutaro to third, Hill to second. Not a good start for Lee. Rios now golden chance to continue last night’s wakeup. Yes Alex, Sac fly to CF and Scutaro scores 1-0 Jays just like that. Wells pops it foul to first base. Two down for Lind back to Lee for third out but Jays have a good start.
Bottom 1st: Sizemore grounds to Hill. DeRosa grounds to Rolen. Martinez grounds to Millar playing at first base again. Good inning for Halladay.

Bottom 2nd: Halladay now with good lead to work with. Choo singles to centre field. Peralta doubles to right, Choo moves to third. Halladay in trouble with two in scoring position and no outs. Garko strikes out. Shoppach strikes out. Two down for Francisco. Fly ball to Wells and Halladay is out of that mess without any damage.

Top 3rd: Wells doubles to left. Lind singles to centre, Wells scores 4-0 Jays and Lee looking ordinary today. Rolen grounds to DeRosa, one down and Lind moves to second. Millar strikes out. Barajas lines out to Francisco in left field.
Bottom 3rd: Cabrera grounds to Rolen but error on throw and safe at first. Sizemore strikes out. Cabrera steals second. DeRosa grounds to Scutaro, Cabrera to third on the play. Martinez full count and now walks. Choo grounds back to Halladay.

Top 4th: Bautista singles to centre field. Scutaro full count and walks for third time, he has Lee’s number. Bautista moves to second. Two on no outs for Hill strikes out. Rios strikes out. Wells grounds to DeRosa. That was vintage 2008 Jays. Two on no outs and nothing happens.

Top 6th: That’s it for Lee, Halladay has seen him off and moral victory at least so far. Ex-Jay Vinnie Chulk pitching. Bautista out. Scutaro now with three walks here singles into left field. Hill grounds to third double play ball.
Bottom 6th: Halladay 79 pitches. Choo grounds out. Peralta strikes out. Garko singles up the middle. Shoppach grounds to Rolen, Garko out on relay to second. Shoppach to first.

Top 7th: Rios grounds to SS, Wells pops up. Lind singles into RF second hit today. Rolen two out one on fly ball to centre.
Bottom 7th: Halladay still out there 96 pitches. Francisco, fly ball to Wells. Cabrera grounds out to Hill. Sizemore strikes out. Number seven today for Roy. 111 pitch count. That could be it for him today. Should be Downs in 8 and BJ Ryan in 9.

Top 8th: Millar singles into LF. Second hit today. Barajas bunt, successful this time and Millar gets to second. Johnny Mc running for Millar. One down for Bautista. Lines it off Cabrera glove, Bautista safe at first but McDonald held at third. That’s it for Chulk. Scutaro at bat. One down two on. Joe Smith pitching. This should do it. Fly ball deep to RF corner Choo makes the catch. McDonald scores 5-1 Jays. Two down for Hill. Walks for Rios. Two on two down. walks him to load bases for Wells. Grounds out to SS. Not good at all Vernon. Another hit would have been game over.
Bottom 8th: Here comes Downs. Overbay now at first. DeRosa at bat, strikes out on three pitches. Martinez fly ball to Rios in RF. Two down. Choo at bat singles into right field. Peralta with one on. Dribbles one up the first base line Downs throws to first for the out.

Top 9th: Lind at bat another multi- hit game, strikes out this time. Rolen grounds to third. Two down for Overbay first at bat today and walks. Barajas hitless today but nice sac bunt last at bat, gives this one a ride high and long to Sizemore at the wall. Almost but not quite.
Bottom 9th: Here comes Ryan. Four run lead BJ. Garko walks. Oh BJ. Shoppach full count, grounds to Scutaro to Hill on to Overbay double play ball. Two down for Francisco singles into centre. Cabrera at bat, Francisco takes second. Full count and walks. Sizemore at bat. another full count. Ball four to load the bases. DeRosa with tie run at plate. Lines it to LF wall three runs score. 5-4 game. That’s it for BJ. What a mess all with two outs. Frasor now pitching. Martinez at bat. DeRosa at second as the tying run. Strikes him out and rightly pumps his fist. Jays win another but BJ ???

What to do Cito? Bite the bullet and send BJ down to get rehab help? Persevere and hope he will turn it around? Problem today was location not velocity and that could be a mechanical problem or a mental. Decision time. If BJ goes down for two weeks who will appear ? Accardo ?
