Lind and Snider power Jays to win behind Halladay.

Jays season opener. Toronto v Detroit. Jays win this one 12-5.

Lineups: Jays: Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Overbay, Barajas, Snider and Halladay pitching.
Tigers: Granderson, Polanco, Ordonez, Cabrera, Guillen, Laird, Inge, Everett, Anderson and Verlander pitching.

This is what Jays need this season to stand any chance of finishing in the top three. Power, power and more power.

Tonight they get it from Lind 4-5 night with career high six rbis night including HR. Snider also adds his first. Fifteen hits by Jays hitters tonight everyone in lineup with two each from Snider, Wells and Rios.

Great start to the game as Jays score four in the first inning with two out.
Jays get their runs in batches with 4 in first 5 in 4th and 3 in 8th
Jays good season starter but will need lots more hitting from the big bats if they are going to stay in this season.

The good: Halladay six good innings and hitless until the fourth. Great play by Hill doing a Johnny Mc impersonation. Rios making nice catch to end this one. One pitch outing from Downs to get out of rally by Tigers in the eighth.
Four doubles from Jays tonight and no errors.
Opening day crowd of 48,000.

The bad: the fans, delaying start with garbage on the field, and also throwing balls onto field and almost causing a forfeit of the game as Leyland pulls his players in the eighth. That would have been very tough to take tonight.

Sorry to see Matt Clement retire. He would have been a great addition to Jays rotation but obviously feels he cannot get back from injury.
From the injury scene rumours of Marcum returning earlier than expected, that would be huge lift for this team.

Other good news Yankees lose opener in Baltimore with Sabathia pitching and giving up six in four innings. Not what they were hoping for from Sabathia.
