Jays steal this one from Tigers in strong fight back.

Jays v Tigers in Toronto. Jays win 5-4.

Lineups: Jays: Same as last night, Cito doing his usual stay with the same until they start to falter. Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Overbay, Barajas, Snider and Purcey pitching.

Tigers: Granderson, Polanco, Ordonez, Cabrera, Guillen, Laird, Thames, Inge, Everett and Jackson pitching.

Jays lucky to win this one after Tigers lead through to eighth inning 3-0. Jackson pitched very well for Detroit and deserved a win. However Jays bats come alive in the last two innings to score five.
In the eighth down 3-0 Rolen gets them on the scoreboard with a solo home run his first, and followed by a three run shot by Aaron Hill who lofted one just into the Jays bull-pen.
BJ Ryan gives up a blast to Inge in the ninth but in the bottom Jays load them up again for Barajas to provide sacrifice fly into deep centrefield to bring in the winning run without a throw by Granderson.
Tough loss for Jackson who had a one hitter going into the eighth.

The good: Purcey hung in there although high pitch count in early innings but settled to fionish seven with 101 pitch count. Hill, Rolen and Barajas heroes tonight. Rolen two hits tonight. Barajas throwing out Polanco trying to steal second.

The bad: Jays unable to play small ball in the second with Vernon on second base and no outs. Purcey throwing ball away on an intentional walk and again on same play throwing into centre field to give up a run. BJ Ryan giving up HR, but he will be pleased with the radar gun hitting 89 and probably didn’t have that much time to get ready in the bullpen as Hill’s shot was with two out.

Second game of the season crowd at 16,000. Ouch.
BUT if the team continues to play like this the crowds will be back. May also have been as it was an enforced “dry” no alcohol night at the stadium. Nothing related to last night activities but a penalty imposed for previous infraction.

Jesse Litsch starts tomorrow.
