Final games

Friday March 28, Jays in Philadelphia for two games to wrap up Spring training en route to New York for season opener on Monday 31.

Jays win 3-1.

Randy Wells keeps his spring scoreless innings intact.

Bullpen continues to shine with shutout innings from Gosling and Camp. The pitching has been the highlight for Jays this spring with very few blips.

Hill has second inning home run and takes his spring totals to 19-44 and avge .432

How come Hill can do this when big bats are so quiet all spring? If Hill (and many of the young guys) are ready in March surely some of the big bats can be.

Rios strikes out two of his three at bats and Thomas popped up (surprise) to shallow RF in his two at bats. Burnett pitched six innings in minor league game seven earned runs, four walks, and four strikeouts. Ouch... not his best outing. Gibbons didn't seem too worried. The object was to get him his start in before NY next week.

Lineup for Monday’s opener.

Eckstein, Stairs (LF), Rios, Wells, Thomas, Overbay, Hill, Scutaro (3B for injured Rolen),Zaun and Halladay pitching. Stairs has earned his spot in lineup and has been one of the most consistent spring bats.
