Yesterday's game
Toronto 5 - Cleveland 9
Second team playing, no Rios, Wells, Eckstein, Rolen or Thomas.
The good: Zaun's HR and double, he has not been on fire this spring, Overbay single, Coats double, this guy is really pushing for inclusion in the 40, Reed also had double.
Not so good: Marcum and Parrish, but only one outing. I would still put my money on both of them.
Notes: Benitez has signed minor contract for $700,000 if he makes team. He could be the steal of the season...
Correction to yesterday's blog re Yankees and Rays. It was of course Elliot Johnson NOT Crawford who broke Cervelli's wrist with plate collision last week.
Tampa media today continues to still berate Girardi for hypocritical attitude towards Duncan having slammed Johnson last week. I intend to agree the situations are very different, it is very clear that Duncan had his spikes up as he went in, especially as he was already out ten feet from the bag.
Today Jays away again in St. Petersburg but this is the first chance for B J Ryan, all eyes and hopes... Litsch also pitching, he is trying to get that last spot and so far has proven far better than Chacin.
So my money on the April lineup is Halladay, Burnett, McGowan, Marcum and Litsch.
Met a fan yesterday who managed to get Overbay to sign his Brewers ! bobblehead. Said the Brewers fans wore toilet seats over their heads when Lyle was batting. Was a huge favourite in Milwaukee.
Today blogmeister's game is at Bright Field for first glimpse of Atlanta. Game is already sold out. Third sellout at Bright that I have been to, they love their baseball although winning the division title last season might help.
