Tallet out of his depth as Tampa hammers Jays for nine

Game One of three. Jays v Tampa. Tuesday June 8, 2010

Lineups:

Tampa: Upton, Rodriguez, Longoria, Zobrist, Aybar, Shoppach, Pena, Kapler, Brignac
Pitching: Tallet v Niemann. This could be horrible. Niemann unbeaten this season, has not lost at home since May 2 2009 !!! a run of 16 starts, and Tallet should not even be in this team or if he has to be, not as a starter, he is at best a long relief guy. I would rather Purcey had the starts and put Tallet in long relief. However Cito likes him and what Cito likes happens at least until the end of this season. Tallett is not likely to challenge Niemann tonight but can the big bats compensate, not against Niemann.

Top 1st: Lewis leading off strikes out. Hill grounds to shortstop Brignac throw to Pena at to first baseman Pena. Lind 3-0 and walks on four pitches. Wells fly ball to Kapler in left. Jays go quietly.
Bottom 1st: Upton leading off singles to right. Rodriguez with one on bunting, gerts it down and single to third, Upton to second. Longoria strikes out. Zobrist strikes out.Aybar grounds to Encarnacion unassisted at third. Upton out, Rodriguez to second.

Top 2nd: Bautista grounds to Rodriguez at second, throw to Pena at first for the out. Overbay grounds to Pena at forst. Two down for Buck, strikes out.
Bottom 2nd: Shoppach leading off grounds out, shortstop McCoy to first baseman Overbay. Pena strikes out. Two down for Kapler, pops it up to McCoy.

Top 3rd: Encarnacion leading off., strikes out. McCoy grounds to Longoria at third. Two down. Lewis strikes out. The differences fro coast to coast exemplified here
Bottom 3rd: Brignac leading off lines out to Wells in centre. Rodriguez fly ball to Bautista in right. Longoria singles to centre, Upton to third. Zobrist with two down, grounds to third base Encarnacion over to second base, Hill, Longoria out.

Top 4th: Hill leading off, hit by a pitch. That’s one way to get on base for Jays. Lind, NO Adam, grounds into a double play, grounds to Rodriguez at second and throw to Brignac at short, throw to Pena to get Hill. Wells grounds to Longoria at third. Longoria throw to first base Pena.
Bottom 4th: Aybar leading off pops up to McCoy at short. Shoppach fly ball to Bautista in right. Two down for Pena, there she goes, home run to right and Rays take the early lead. 1-0. Kapler pops up to McCoy at short.

Top fifth.Bautista leading off fly ball to Zobrist in right. Overbay grounds to second base Rodriguez to first baseman Pena. Two down for Buck, strikes out. Jays unable to do much tonight.
Bottom 5th: Brignac leading off, 3-0 and walks on four pitches.Upton singles to right, Brignac to second. Rodriguez hit by a pitch, to load the bases. Brignac to third, Upton to second. Longoria singles to left, here comes Brignac, here comes Upton, 3-0 Tampa. Rodriguez to second. Still no one out. That’s it for Tallet though, only eighty pitches but had little tonight. 5.60 ERA. Rommie Lewis now pitching. Cito is overusing this guy. Wait for the arm injury. Zobrist strikes out. One down. Aybar, singles to centre, here comes Rodriuguez 4-0 Tampa. Shoppach walks, Longoria to third, Aybar to second. Pena, there it goes, home run to right, here comes Longoria, here comes Aybar, here comes Shopach, here comes grand slam Tampa. 8-0 Tampa. Kapler,lines out to short McCoy. Brignac fly ball to Wells in centre

Top 6th: Encarnacion leading off grounds to Brignac throw to Pena at first. One down for McCoy, singles to left. That breaks up the no-hitter. Lewis pops it up down the third base line for Longoria. Hill grounds to Longoria at third to second baseman Rodriguez, McCoy out.
Bottom 6th:Upton leading off full count and walks. Rodriguez with one on, fly ball to Wells in centre. Longoria out. Zobrist with one down, grounds to third, Upton to third. Two on one down for Aybar, singles to right, here comes Upton. 9-0 Tampa. Janssen now pitching. Shoppach strikes out.
Top 7th: Lind leading off singles to left. Wells pops up to second base Rodriguez.
Bautista with one down, lines Longoria at third. Overbay Fly ball to Upton in centre.
Bottom 7th: Pena leading off, full count and walks. One on for Kapler, singles to centre, Pena to second. Two on no outs for Brignac. Brignac strikes out. Upton pops up to Hill. Rodriguez strikes out.
Top 8th: Buck leading off fly ball to Upton in centre. One down for Encarnacion, strikes out. McCoy lines out to Upton in centre field.
Bottom8th: .Purcey pitching. Longoria leading off doubles to right. Zobrist grounds to third., third baseman Encarnacion to first baseman, Overbay.two down. Aybar fly ball to Wells in centre. Shoppach strikes out.
Top 9th: Lewis leading off fly ball to centre fielder Upton grounds out to Longoria at third throw to first baseman Pena. Lind final out for Jays fly ball to right Zobrist to end this agony tonight. Jays lose big 9-0.
The good: Nothing for Jays tonight.
The bad: Two hits to Lind plus a walk and one hit to McCo and that dear friends is it. It could have been much worse with Tampa production 5/17 with runners in scoring position. Ouch those figures are Jays type figures.
