Jays win big with Eveland, Gonzalez and Snider tonight

Jays v White Sox. Thursday April 15.
Eveland v Garcia

White Sox: Pierre, Beckham, Quentin, Konerko, Jones, Rios, Ramirez, Lucy and Nix.
Jays: Bautista, Gonzalez, Lind, Wells, Overbay, Buck, Reed, Snider and McCoy.
Jeremy Reed getting his start. He played so very well in Dunedin and deserved to make the team. Now we will see him at least until April 23rd when Hill is scheduled to return.

Top 1st: Pierre strikes out. Beckham fly ball to Wells in centre, two down. Quentin grounds to .Bautista at third throw to Overbay at first to end the inning. Very nice Dana.
Bottom 1st: Bautista full count and walks. Gonzalez singles to left, Bautista to second. Lind lines hard to Beckham on to Ramirez, Bautista out at second. Wells infield single to short, Gonzalez to second. Overbay strikes out.

Top 2nd: Konerko fly ball to Reed in right field. One down for Jones, grounds to McCoy at second on to Overbay. Rios singles to right. Ramirez fly ball to Snider in left.
Bottom 2nd: Buck strikes out. Reed fouls out to Nix at third base. Two down for Snider. There it goes finally for Travis home run to right, no doubt about that one, second deck and Jays go out in front 1-0. McCoy grounds to Ramirez at short, throw to Konerko at first to end the inning but Jays have the early lead.

Top 3rd: Lucy lines out to Reed playing in right tonight. One down. Nix fly ball to Wells in centre, two down. Pierre full count and walks. Beckham strikes out. No damage done by the walk.
Bottom 3rd: Bautista singles to left. Gonzalez doubles to the wall in centre, Bautista scores 2-0 Jays. Lind, doubles to right, here comes Gonzalez, 3-0 Jays. Wells a dribbler to short but will beat this one out. Lind to third. Overbay with one in scoring position, strikes out. Vernon steals second, Buck, there we go. Sac fly to Pierre in left, Lind scores 4-0 Jays. Reed fly ball to Rios in centre.

Top 4th: Quentin grounds to McCoy at second throw to Overbay. One down. Konerko grounds to Bautista at third, throw to Overbay at first. Two down. Jones strikes out.
Bottom 4th: Snider 3-0 and walks on four pitches. One on for McCoy doubles to left, that’s enough for Travis scores from first. 4-0 Jays. Bautista full count and walks. Two on and no outs. Manager Guillen not happy, that is it for Garcia. Only 67 pitches but has walked three and has not looked very sharp at all tonight. Williams now pitching. Gonzalez 2-2 doubles to centre 3-3 Here comes McCoy here comes Bautista. 6-0 Jays. Still no one out. Lind strikes out. Wells intentional walk once again to get to Lyle. As we mentioned last night, Overbay’s slump is now enabling opposing pitchers to go around Vernon. Lyle grounds to Beckham at second on to Ramirez to get Vernon at the bag at second. Gonzalez to third, Overbay to first. Buck strikes out.

Top 5th: Rios strikes out, Buck throws down to Overbay. Ramirez grounds to McCoy at second throw to Overbay. Two down. Lucy gets hold of this one home run to left. 7-1 Jays. Nix grounds back to Eveland throw to Overbay at first.
Bottom 5th: Reed leading off walks. Snider grounds to Beckham at second throw to Ramirez covering the bag to get Reed. Snider at first. McCoy doubles to left, Snider to third. Bautista full count and walks. Bases loaded. Gonzalez 3-3. Not this time strikes out. Lind with bases still loaded, grounds to Beckham at second throw to Konerko and Jays leave bases loaded. Not good with only one out and could not bring one in. Cito will not be happy and rightly so even with a 7-1 lead.

Top 6th: Pierre walks. Beckham singles to left, two on Pierre at second. Quentin fly ball to Wells in centre throw to Gonzalez and doubles up Pierre who had gone way past second and cannot get back. Double play. Konerko grounds to Gonzalez at short throw to McCoy at second to get Beckham.
Bottom 6th: Santos pitching. Wells strikes out. Overbay strikes out. Buck strikes out. That was quick !!!

Top 7th: Jones full count and walks. That’s it for Eveland tonight. 90 pitches 3 walks and four strikeouts. Camp now pitching. Rios strikes out. Crowd loves that. Ramirez there it goes, home run to left field and two score. 7-3 Jays. Lucy fly ball to Snider in left. Nix strikes out.
Bottom 7th: JJ Putz now pitching. Reed singles to centre. Snider strikes out. Reed steals second. McCoy strikes out. Bautista strikes out.

Top 8th: Casey Janssen now pitching. Pierre grounds to second and beats out the throw. Beckham fly ball to Reed in right field. Quentin strikes out. Konerko grounds to Gonzalez, on to McCoy to get the dangerous Pierre.
Bottom 8th: Linebrink pitching. Gonzalez singles to left, his fourth hit tonight. Lind strikes out. Wells strikes out. Overbay strikes out fourth time OUCH Lyle…. That is rock bottom.

Top 9th: Oh no, Frasor. Not a save situation and Jason let’s keep it that way. Jones, full count. strikes out on ball four. Rios, pulls it to third, good catch by Bautista. Ramirez with two down. Grounds to Gonzalez throw to Overbay and this game is over.

Jays win 7-3 and keep that lead in the Division 7-3. Yankees win and Boston lose. Tomorrow the Angels are in town for the weekend series.

The good: Another great outing from Eveland, Travis finally getting going and a great diving catch to rob Lucy of a base hit in the seventh. Gonzalez 4-5 career high and three RBIs. The bullpen of Camp, Janssen and Frasor combine for one run in the last three innings.
The bad: 15 strike outs tonight by Jays hitters. Overbay four strikeouts, .077 average. Give him a rest Cito. At minimum you have to move him away from behind Vernon because as we can see opposing teams are recognizing the issue and taking advantage. But the last three innings nine strikeouts by Jays. Not good. All the starting lineup get hits except fro Overbay and Buck
Very bad: 3-14 with runners in scoring position. That’s ok when they score seven but against the Red Sox and Yankees they are going to need to step it up in these situations.
