Jays win 7-4 behind great pitching by Reyes and home run power by Lind and Escobar

Jays v Orioles. Series finale game three.

Not a great night last night, with the loss Jays lose a game on all of the others in the division. Adam Lind return was basically what we expected it is going to take time for him to get that swing timing back. Meantime others have to pick him up and so far they have been Patterson last night, Arencibia the night before also taking pressure of Bautista who has been carrying the team so much. JoJo Reyes today, and the even greater need for the bats to boom. The chances of good back to back performances are low. Nix also in the line-up today, a better choice than McCoy in this book but Jayson is also struggling with his timing. Molina for Arencibia to help Reyes but I don’t think much is sacrificed with the bat. Encarnacion in the line-up today as DH.

Jays: Escobar, Patterson, Bautista, Lind at 1B, Hill, Encarnacion, Davis, Molina, Nix and Romero pitching.
Orioles: Andino, Markakis, Jones, Guerrero, Lee, Hardy, Reynolds, Reimold, Tatum and Guthrie pitching.

Top 1st: Escobar leading off. Hammers this to the deepest part of the park at 410ft Jones gets it at the fence. Not far enough Yunel. Patterson with one down pops up to Jones in centre, two quick outs. Bautista, full count, ball four down and away, they don’t risk it. Lind with two down and one on, 3-0 count, full count, perfect, Lind goes the opposite field, singles to left and Bautista going all the way to third, fielder caught napping. Two on two down for Hill, oh boy, singles into right centre, here comes Bautista, Lind going to third, throw is cut-off and Hill is hung out to dry. That was dumb base running Aaron and ruined your RBI. Should have been two on and two down.
Bottom 1st: Andino, singles first pitch into left. Markakis, full count, fly ball to Davis in centre. Jones singles to left, Guerrero, doubles to left, here comes Jones, 1-1 game. Lee grounds to Nix throw to Lind here comes Jones to score. 2-1 Baltimore Guerrero to third on the play. Hardy grounds to Nix at third throw to Lind for third out but Orioles have taken the lead here.

Top 2nd: Encarnacion doubles to left. Runner in scoring position, Jays have three shots at bringing him in. Last night 1-7. Davis pops up to second one down. Molina, grounds to short, throw to first two down. Edwin stuck at second. Nix, 1-2 takes strike three. Jays 0-3 with runners in scoring position. OUCH big-time. Not hard to see where the Jays major problem is.
Bottom 2nd: Reynolds, 0-2 count, strikes out looking, one down. Reimold, grounds to Escobar, throw to Lind for second out. Tatum, full count, ball four, One on two down for Andino. Pops up to Hill in shallow right centre almost falls over.

Top 3rd: Escoibar leading off, strikes out, one down for Patterson, singles to right, Bautista one on one down, 3-0 not giving him anything, ball four. Two on for Lind, there we go Adam singles to right, here comes Patterson Jose to third. Hill with Lind at first, Groan, grounds to third, over to second on to first, double play to end this one. 2-2 game.
Bottom 3rd: Markakis, 2-0 count. Fly ball to Patterson in left, one down. Jones, 1-2 grounds to Nix throw to Lind, two down, Guerrero, grounds to Hill, throw to Lind for third out. Very nice inning by JoJo.

Top 4th: Encarnacion, lines to left, 2-2, law of averages starting to work, too bad it was not last night Edwin. Davis, fly ball to left, one down for Molina, 3-1 count, ball four. Two on one down for Nix. Time his average worked out. Not this time pops up to Lee at first, two down. Escobar, there she goes, whoa.... into left field seats, three run home run. 5-2 Jays. Patterson, strikes out but Jays have given JoJo something to work with now,
Bottom 4th: Lee, hammers this one to left, whoa great leaping catch by Nix to take away a double. Hardy, one down, great pitch strikes him out, two down for Reynolds, lines to Davis at the wall. Nice pitching by Reyes.

Top 5th: Bautista leading off. Bounces to short, throw to first beats Jose. Lind, 2-2 today, Sweet swing Adam, there she goes, into right field seats, there is no better swing than his home run shot to right. 6-2 Jays. That hit is huge, now the opposing pitchers will not be in a hurry to walk Jose with Lind hitting well behind him. Hill pops up to second, two down. Bullpen working Simon. Encarnacion 2-2. Oh boy, doubles to left, 3-3 today what did he eat for breakfast ??? Davis pops up to short to end this inning.
Bottom 5th: Reimold, strikes out, Tatum lines it to left, off the glove of Nix, runner safe at first. Andino doubles to left, to third, two in scoring position. Markakis, fly ball to Patterson in left here comes Tatum 6-3 Jays. Two down for Jones, pops up to Lind, no problem.

Top 6th: Alfredo Simon now pitching. Molina leading off, singles to left centre, Nix, strikes out swinging, time running out on Jayson to perform, one down for Escobar. 2-2 count, grounds to third throw to second on to first, double play BUT Escobar might have beaten that one out, he was not hustling as fast he might have there. He might regret that when he sees how close the play was.
Bottom 6th: Guerrero, 2-2 count, full count, way outside, however better to walk Vladdy than give him something to hit out of here. Lee, lines first pitch high into right corner Jose runs it down, one down. Hardy, 3-0 don’t walk him JoJo. Ball four, two on one down for Reynolds, grounds to Nix at third, on to Hill at second, over to Lind at first, double play ball. Just what the doctor ordered for Reyes.

Top 7th: Patterson, 1-2 count, strikes out swinging, one down for Bautista, now this should be interesting with Lind hot. Two walks today so far. 2-2 count, way outside, full count, just gets under it, fly ball to left, that was his home run swing but off the end of the bat. Lind now 3-3 today. 1-2 count, there she goes another home run for Adam, great swing into right again, his second of the day. 7-3 Jays. Lind now 4-4 today. Hill, pops up to second for the out,
Bottom 7th: Reimold, 3-0 count, ball four. Casey Janssen now warming up. Here comes Bruce Walton, buying time for JoJo, he has done enough today. Bullpen is well rested. Turn it over. Tatum, 2-0 JoJo has hit the wall I think. Grounds to Escobar throw to Hill to get Reimold, no chance to turn two. That’s his last hitter, here comes Janssen. One on one down for Andino, fly ball to Bautista in right, two down. Markakis, grounds to Lind, throw to Janssen covering for third out, nice play Casey.

Top 8th: Encarnacion 3-3 leading off. 2-2 count, strikes out swinging, one down for Davis, 0-3 today. 0-2 count, pops up to second, two down for Molina, 3-1 count, ball four, Nix now another chance to come through. Jose steals second, Wow. In scoring position now, Nix pops up to third, having a miserable time right now.
Bottom 8th: Frasor now pitching. Interesting who will do the ninth? Jones leading off. Lines it at Escobar drops the ball but plenty of time to throw him out at first. One down for Guerrero, grounds back to Frasor, throw to first, two down. Lee, 0-2 count, strikes out swinging. Nice inning Jason.

Top 9th: Top of the order Escobar leading off. Michael Gonzalez now pitching, 2-0 count, grounds to short, throw to first, one down. Rauch up in bullpen. Patterson, 0-2 count, strikes out looking. Bautista, not your day Jose, grounds to third, throw to first for final out.
Bottom 9th: Jon Rauch now pitching. Hardy leading off. High fly ball to Patterson in left, one down. Reynolds, one down. 3-1 count, gets hold of this one, home run into Orioles bullpen in left, 7-4 Jays. Felix Pie pinch hitting for Reimold, full count. Grounds to Hill, throw to Lind, two down. Wieters pinch hitting for Tatum. 3-1 count, ball four. Top of the order. Call to the bullpen. Francisco warming up. Andino ball one. Wieters takes second, no throw.2-1 count. 25 pitch inning for Rauch. 2-2 count, full count. strikes out looking, that pitch looked dodgy, similar to the ball called before, Andino also thinks so, however Jays win this one. 7-4.

Another win for JoJo Reyes. Funny game baseball.

The very good: Lind, 4-4 and two home run day. Welcome back Adam. JoJo Reyes took the game into the seventh and we can’t ask for more, winning streak now two after that long 28 winless game drought. Escobar three run home run. And we have to mention Edwin, finally a good game three hit game. The law of averages but good to see.
The not so good: First inning Hill is hung out to dry trying to stretch RBI single into double. That was not smart base running Aaron and ruined your RBI.
