Janssen experiment does not work. Lane and Emaus show more power.

Thursday March 19, 2009. Jays v Yankees in Tampa. Night game. Yankees win 7-4.

Janssen v Burnett. Janssen auditioning for rotation, lousy idea in my opinion. Burnett first game against his old team.

Lineups: Jays: Inglett, Hill, Lind, Overbay, Lane, Bautista, Campbell, Chavez, McDonald and Janssen pitching.
Yankees: Posada, Damon, Swisher, Matsui, Nady, Ransom, Cabrera, Berroa, Pena and Burnett pitching.

Inglett good start leads of with a triple, making that bid for leadoff, but no one can bring him in. Come on friends three tries? Hill walks. This is like last season. Get the runners on but have no small ball game and unable to sac fly, bunt, or get that single.

Janssen gives up a leadoff double and then loads them with two walks. He is out of there, just knew that this was not a good idea. Burres in relief cannot do it either.

In the second inning Lane walks and Campbell brings him in. his eighth rbi of the spring another finder that we should see in September in Toronto if not before.
Yankees see Burres out of there and are ahead 5-1.

Finally Jays get something going in the fifth with walk after walk after walk…Inglett Hill, Overbay, Jays now have six walks in five innings, that’s all very good but where are the rbis? Overbay continues to be overcautious. This is exactly like last season except for this next guy. Here he comes again.
Jason Lane Two rbis double to go with his walk. Now ten rbis on the spring. Averaging ..357. This guy has done everything and more for this team this spring.. definitely deserves a shot. But Cito has difficult choices to make… Millar as DH, but Lind LF and Snider where does he go? AAA. ?
Lane pinch hitter and back up for Rios and Wells or even for Lind as he is not a great LF.
In the eighth Yankees score two off Purcey with Nunez HR to make it 7-3.

Emaus (again) gets one back in top of the ninth. HR # 3 of the spring but no one on base this time. Emaus has shown that he is not bad backup for Hill at 2B. plenty of pop in this bat.

Johnny Mac singles gets his average up to .133 but error ruins his night.
Burnett 3.1 innings and three hits, one run three walks though. He will be happy he is playing behind with good hitting side to help him out.
Burres cannot do the job either and gives up six hits on four runs in 2.2 innings. Faces 13 hitters
Purcey now. 4 great innings, four hits one run faces 16 hitters. this guy is a starter Cito. In his fifth inning Gives up the two run hr to Nunez in the 8th to make it 7-3. Just goes a bit too far tonight and wishes he had that pitch back but has shown more than enough Cito surely? Jays ten hits and seven walks but only four to show for it. Have to do better than this to beat Boston and the Yankees.

Phillies tomorrow in Dunedin.
