No bats, no runs, no win.

Monday May 12,2008. Double header.

Burnett v Carmona. Carmona is going. Wedge had suggested that he might not as it was not his regular day. Jays really need to win both but anything can happen and probably will.

Lineups: Jays: Wilkerson, Hill, Rios, Rolen, Stairs, Overbay, Scutaro, Barajas, Inglett and Burnett pitching
Cleveland: Sizemore, Carroll, Dellucci, Martinez, Francisco, Hafner, Garko, Cabrera, Blake and Carmona pitching.

Cleveland wins this one 3-0 and Jays sink lower.

The good: Burnett pitched well but that was it today.
The very bad: Three games in Cleveland and only one run to show for it.

Top 1st: Wilkerson leadoff high fly ball to LF corner. Hill, grounds to 3B. Rios grounds to Blake at 3B. Three up and down.
Bottom 1st: Sizemore strikes out. Carroll strikes out. Dellucci singles down RF line, Overbay cannot get it and Wilkerson again fumbles ball, can this guy see the ball ???? One on, two down. Martinez grounds out to Hill.

Top 2nd: Big bats up…. (paper big bats today ? every Jays fan hopes not.) Rolen at bat, walks… leadoff guy on. Stairs first pitch of course, singles up the middle, double play, what’s new? NOT a good at bat by Stairs when Carmona has just walked Rolen. Take a couple at least. Overbay grounds out to 1B. An atypical Jays inning by the big bats. They can always find a way to erase their own base runners.
Bottom 2nd: Francisco, strikes out, Burnett’s third. Hafner roller to Burnett, two down. Garko off the end of bat in front of plate, Burnett throws him out. Another good inning for Burnett.

Top 3rd: Bottom of the order but can’t do any worse than the big guys. Scutaro grounds out to Cabrera. Barajas lines it at 2B, can’t hold it and Barajas safe at 1B. Inglett at bat, Barajas going, missed hit and run by Inglett, Barajas reverses and safe at 1B. Inglett 3-0 count. Walks. As I said, bottom of the order can’t be worse than big guys, they are showing they are better !!! two on. Wilkerson now with only one out. First pitch (it’s catching even for the new guys…) Fly ball to CF. Barajas tags and takes 3B but two outs. Hill strikes out leaves two on.
Bottom 3rd: Cabrera bunts to Burnett, A.J. misses it, safe at 1B and error to Burnett. Blake grounds to Scutaro gets Cabrera at 2B. Sizemore strikes out for second time. Carroll full count strikes him out again for second time. Five now for Burnett.

Top 4th: Rios, soft fly ball drops in behind 2B. Rolen now with one on for a change, hit and run, steal, something please. Grounds to 3B gets Rios, hard slide at 2B, no double play. Stairs first pitch singles to RF Rolen trying for two bases thrown out at 3B. Rolen forcing the issue but also looks like desperation play. Nothing goes right for these guys. Stairs at 1B. Overbay at bat grounds to 1B.
Bottom 4th: Dellucci grounds out to Hill. Martinez grounds to Overbay. Francisco fly ball to CF. Another good inning by Burnett, he is doing his job bats need to get going.

Top 5th: Indians have scored eighteen. Ouch bigtime. Scutaro 3-0 again to Scutaro, very patient today but now lines out to Carroll at 2B. Barajas grounds to 3B. Inglett walks again second time. Wilkerson, now time to contribute. Hard hit liner to RF. Jays have scored one run in two and a half games, twenty three innings .
Bottom 5th: Hafner lines to RF, Wilkerson catches. Garko grounds to SS two down. Cabrera strikes out on three pitches. Both pitchers at 65 pitches. Burnett six strikeouts.

Top 6th: Hill strikes out. Rios grounds to 3B. Rolen same play grounds to 3B. Three up and down.
Bottom 6th: Blake grounds to Rolen at 3B very nice play. Sizemore doubles off the wall right centre. Carroll grounds to 2B two down, Sizemore to 3B. Dellucci singles up the middle Sizemore scores 1-0 Cleveland. Martinez singles to RF. Two on. Francisco pops up to Barajas. Really you can’t fault Burnett. He has kept Indians to one run it is the Jays bats that are the problem. They have to score. Big.

Top 7th: Stairs at bat, has been first pitch swinging all game, there he goes once more, but this time also singles to centre. Overbay now, due for another double Lyle. Grounds to 2B. Gets Stairs but no double play. Lyle safe at 1B for Scutaro at bat, fly ball to RF two down. Barajas 3-0. Walks him. Two on now. Inglett at bat. 83 pitches now for Carmona. Inglett grounds to 1B but Garko great diving save to end inning. That was base hit but when things are going bad…..
Bottom 7th: Hafner at bat, walks. Garko fly ball to Inglett in LF. Cabrera HR to Right centre. 3-0 Cleveland. Blake strikes out. Two down. Sizemore. Fly ball to Rios.

Top 8th: Wilkerson grounds out to 1B. Hill strikes out for third time this game. Rios grounds out to SS. That’s about average for this team.
Bottom 8th: Carroll grounds out to 3B. Dellucci grounds to 2B. Two quick outs here. Maryinez walks on four pitches. Francisco full count, walks. That’s it for Burnett. He had great game just no run support. Two on for Jesse Carlson, Martinez at bat full count, another walk, bases loaded. That’s it for Carlson just in for one batter. Camp now in. Garko strikes out.

Top 9th: Last chance Rolen flies out to Sizemore. Stairs another single to LF. Overbay guess what…. Double play ball. Grounds to SS. Cleveland wins 3-0.

This agony is over, well almost. Just one more to go here and only against the best pitcher in the majors right now. This should be a cakewalk. But not for sorry Jays.
Watch for a lot of first pitch outs this game. But if they think it gets any easier after tonight dream on Minnesota is playing well right now.
