Jays hit rock bottom- we hope. McGowan terrible along with the rest of the team

Toronto v Cleveland Saturday May 10, 2008.

Need a win badly and not just by one run. Need to show the power they are supposed to have but no one has seen yet. Wells has broken wrist and at least four to six weeks away.
Tonight's lineup has only three (besides McGowan) from 2007. Zaun, Rios and Overbay.
Accardo now on disabled list and Benitez is in the bullpen.

Lineups:Jays: Rios, Wilkerson, Rolen, Mench, Stewart, Overbay, Scutaro, Zaun and McGowan pitching
Indians: Sizemore, Carroll, Dellucci, Martinez, Francisco, Hafner, Garko, Cabrera, Blake and Laffee pitching.

Cleveland wins this one in first inning. 12-0 final score.

The good: Nothing in this one. Maybe Scutaro, Zaun and Overbay. Carlson,Camp and Tallet pitching.
The bad: Everything. McGowan pitching, fielding, Mench and Wilkerson.
The bullpen is already stretched in first two games in this series.
The very bad: The bats. All of them but Stewart a goat tonight, terrible, and ruined 7th inning by poor judgement and lousy hitting. Stewart is now 0-16. time to pull the plug on this experiment.
I might exclude Scutaro and Overbay from this group tonight with their hitting.

Top 1st: Rios grounds to 2B. Wilkerson, same play, two down. Rolen strikes out. Not a great start for Jays bats.
Bottom 1st: Sizemore, full count, HR to RF. 1-0 Indians. There goes the no-hitter. Carroll at bat, single to RF. Dellucci, full count, walks him. Two on no outs. Martinez doubles to RF Carroll scores 2-0. Still no outs and two in scoring position. This looks very bad. Francisco lines to Mench in LF. Dellucci tags and scores 3-0. One down. Hafner hit batsman. Two on. McGowan is garbage right now. Garko grounds to Rolen, gets Garko just but runners advance into scoring position. Two down. Cabrera, doubles to LF. Two runs score. 5-0. Number nine Blake at bat. Doubles to RF. Cabrera scores. 6-0. Sizemore at bat again, grounds to Overbay.
That’s it for one of THE worst innings of futility Jays have had in long time. Three runs score with two outs.

Now we will see what the Jays are made of… Perhaps they need a real thrashing tonight to get them shamed but I doubt it. They play as if they have given up on the season let along the game. I wonder if this is the game where Gibbons is fired along with hitting coach.

Top 2nd: Mench grounds to 3B one down. Stewart 0-12. Strikes out. Two down. Overbay at bat, breaks bat grounds to SS. Three up and down. This team really cares.
Bottom 2nd: Carroll, grounds to Scutaro. Dellucci, fly ball to RF. Martinez grounds to Scutaro. Three up and down. BUT it doesn’t matter one iota if Jays don’t start hitting.

Top 3rd: Scutaro at bat, A DOUBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! first hit by Jay tonight. Leadoff in scoring position will see if it makes any difference. Zaun at bat, back to Laffee but Scutaro safe at 2B. One down. Velandia wondering why he came here it was much better at AAA, grounds to SS. Out at 1B.
Rios oh no… pulling two in a row, what happened to opposite field hits? Full count, pulls it again. Walks him. Two on. Will it matter? Wilkerson at bat. Scutaro still at 2B. grounds to Carroll at 2B. Jays add three more failures to bringing in runner in scoring position.
Bottom 3rd: Francisco high fly ball to Mench in LF. Hafner, flies out to RF Wilkerson. Garko fly ball to Rios. Indians bats think this game is over and are more concerned about getting to the Celtics/Cavs game later next to baseball field.

Top 4th: Rolen pops up in shallow LF foul ground. Mench grounds to SS. Two down. Stewart first pitch of course, grounds to SS. 0-14 !!! Are we really serious about this guy ?
Jays obviously also want to go that Cavaliers/Celtic basketball game and why not? Get this agony over for the fans. BUT seriously I don’t think this shows much maturity by Jays bats. Take a few pitches, work the count and give McGowan a breather.
Bottom 4th: Cabrera single up the middle, leadoff on, lets see difference between the two teams on moving runners, Blake at bat. Single into LF right between Rolen and Scutaro. Two on. Sizemore for third time. Double to RF. Cabrera scores 7-0. Blake held at 3B. Two in scoring position no outs.Three straight hits. I guess my question was answered. Cleveland hitters know how to hit. All of them. Lucky there for McGowan, hit to RF just foul, that would have been two more. Strikes out. One down. Dellucci pops up shallow LF to Mench. Martinez full count, dangerous pitch here Dustin. Single to RF Wilkerson cannot hold it. Has he played there before ????? Two runs score 9—0 and that’s it for McGowan. Why didn’t they walk Martinez who is now 7-9 against McGowan? Frasor now pitching.Francisco at bat, grounds to SS. Lead runner Martinez out at 2B.

Top 5th: I think this thrashing of Jays might have some positives. We will definitely see what they are made of for next five innings. Laffee laughing, has not played a team this poor for a long time will take this for his ERA.
Overbay grounds to 3B. Scutaro double last at bat, the only hit for Jays tonight, fly ball to RF two down. Zaun at bat lines out to 3B. Three up and down. Good news for Jays, rain is forecast all day tomorrow. Bad news is that they will have to play the game sometime.
Bottom 5th: Hafner strikes out. Is that the first strike out for Indians? NO, the second, just feels like it. Garko doubles to right centre wall. Cabrera strikes out. Blake at bat, walks him. Sizemore for the fourth time !!! in 5th inning. It feels as if all we have seen is Indians batting all night. Full count on Sizemore. There she goes, second HR of the game for Sizemore RF bounces off wall for Sizemore 12-0 Indians. Carroll gets a buzz cut, we need some action here. Perhaps some bench clearing. Flies to CF Rios. Ends the agony.

Top of 6th: One of the problems with Jays bats is that not just lack of life but there is no creativity, no one dropping a bunt and definitely no one hustling. How do they react now ??? Top of order. Velandia fly ball out to SS behind 3B. Rios single to LF. It’s a start… Wilkerson first pitch !!!! fly ball to LF. Not a good at bat. Gave no chance for Alex to steal. Inglett now in for Rolen Jays have surrendered this one. Definitely no thought of the first team leaving it all out there. No guts no glory. No passion, no fight in this team. Inglett lines out to SS. Interesting shot of All-Star ballot voting. I guess the good news will be that certainly Jays will all get a rest for a few days this year.
Bottom 6th: Jesse Carlson pitching now. Delucci fly ball to CF. Martinez grounds to Inglett at 3B. Francisco grounds to SS. Three up and down which is standard for Jesse. Nice inning as ever.

Top 7th: Big bats coming up…. Wedge brings in two replacements Guitterez and Marte. Mench at bat, like Wilkerson not much from either of them so far. Single up middle, first base hit as a Jay. Stewart first pitch !!!! grounds to SS double play. I now have him at 0-15 and he is swinging at the first pitch. Overbay long single to RF wall, Stewart’s poor judgement hurts even more. That might have scored Mench. Scutaro 3-0, singles to LF. Two on but been here before. Zaun singles to RF. Bases loaded. Overbay held at 3B. This is another difference most of Indians hits have been doubles or more.
Velandia lines to SS. Stewart is the goat this inning. Definitely two or even three runs without his first pitch surrender. Four hits at least by Jays in this inning.
Bottom 7th: Camp pitching to Hafner Grounds to Overbay. Garko hit on wrist. Cabrera grounds to 1B gets lead runner Garko at 2B. Marte at bat strikes out. Nice inning by Camp.

Top 8th: Craig Breslow pitching, Rios at bat hmm what can you do Alex? Goes after high ball singles into LF. Wilkerson strikes out on three pitches, so far a bust at bat and glove. Inglett grounds to 2B, Rios out but Inglett safe at 1B, two down. Mench grounds to 3B cannot get it but SS does.
Bottom 8th: The good, the last time Indians bat, this game at least. Interesting most of crowd has stayed to the end, great entertainment I guess. But it is so quiet in this field. Tallet now pitching Sizemore still playing strikes out doesn’t like it, tough, replay shows umpire was right. Carroll, fly ball to Rios, two down. Guitteriez double to LF corner. Shoppach at bat grounds to Inglett and that’s it. No more Indians bats tonight. Cavs are winning easily also.

Top 9th: Will they come out swinging to get this over ? Or will they show true grit, iron, inner strength, and graft out 13 runs ? Stewart at bat didn’t swing at pitch way outside, full count, where was this last at bat? grounds to 3B at least not a double play. now 0-16. Overbay singles to RF, Lyle has had two hits. Scutaro strikes out. Zaun singles up the middle, 2-4 tonight. Two on again. Velandia strikes out.

Cleveland wins this one 12-0. Nothing much to write home tonight about the Jays. Without the good pitching of the last two weeks the very poor hitting is highlighted even more. Jays are in deep hole now and with injuries mounting. Wells, Eckstein, McDonald and Accardo. This lineup doesn’t scare any team right now.
How will JP respond to this one ?
