Jays hit rock bottom losing to Tigers 10-5 with awful hitting performance and Dotel disasterous appearance.

Tigers v Jays. Final game of series.
Jays are facing tough pitcher again in 5-0 Scherzer and no sign of Lind.

Line-ups: Tigers. Jackson, Santiago, Boesch, Cabrera, Martinez, Kelly, Peralta, Avila, Raburn, and Scherzer pitching,
Jays: Escobar, Patterson, Bautista, Encarnacion, Hill, Rivera, Arencibia, Cooper, Molina and Morrow pitching. With Jose in right now Davis is sitting, I would rather Rajai were in centre and Patterson sitting.

Top 1st: Jackson, grounds to third, Encarnacion throw to Cooper, one down, Santiago, fly ball to Bautista in right two down for Boesch, strikes out on three pitches. Great start for Morrow.
Bottom 1st: Escobar, grounds back up the middle. One on for Patterson, grounds to third Kelly throw to second to get Escobar, no chance for two. Bautista one down one on, yes Jose doubles to the wall in centre, here comes Escobar and Jose to third in the play. 1-0 Jays. Encarnacion, full count, not sure about this guy protecting Jose though. No pops up to right, too shallow for Jose to come home. Two down, Hill, 2-2 count, awful, right down the middle and he watches it. Once again Jays glaring weakness in bringing in the guy. Pitch count 22 for Scherzer.

Top 2nd: Cabrera, full count, strikes out swinging, one down for Martinez, pops up to Molina, two down. Kelly, singles into shallow right, one on two down. Peralta, there goes Kelly, safe at second on the throw, ball four to Peralta, two on now for Avila. 0-2 count, Arencibia, 3-0 count, strikes out swinging. Morrow gets out of his first spot of trouble. 28 pitch count.
Bottom 2nd: Rivera, drives it to Boesch in right, that was what we needed in first inning with Jose at third. One down for Arencibia, full count, ball four. One on one down. Cooper, long overdue for something. Pops up to Santiago at second, surely there is a better hitter in Vegas than Cooper? I like the guy but he is just not ready. Molina, strikes out swinging, 42 pitch count.

Top 3rd: Raburn high fly ball to Patterson in centre, one down. Jackson, strikes out swinging, two down for Santiago. Strikes out swinging, number five for Morrow to end this one. 40 pitch count.
Bottom 3rd: Escobar, there we go Yunel, hammers it into the Jays left field bullpen 2-0 Jays. Patterson. Full count, strikes out swinging. Bautista lifts it into shallow left, 2-2 tonight. Encarnacion, pops up to Santiago at second, two down for Hill, fly ball to left. Hill and Encarnacion leave Jose on base for second time tonight. I think Jose will demand transfer or move these guys away from him in the order. 61 pitches for Scherzer.

Top 4th: Boesch, 2-2 count. Strikes out but ball gets away wild pitch to the backstop and Boesch safe at first. Cabrera, full count, Morrow in trouble here with several high pitches, ball four. Two on nobody out. Martinez, 2-2 count, drives it to center, Patterson unable to make the catch, that was catchable. Boesch scores 2-1 Jays and two more in scoring position. Kelly, singles to centre, here comes second run. Peralta, full count, lines to Escobar, great catch by Yunel. One down, Avila, 3-1 count, ball four to load the bases. Here comes Farrell. That’s it for Morrow, he does NOT like this. He thought that was just a chat. Surprise. Camp now pitching. Raburn 0-2 count, strikes out two down. Jackson with bases loaded. Lines it to centre, again Patterson unable to get it. Three runs score 5-2 Tigers. Santiago, doubles into left, here comes Jackson, 6-2 Tigers. Boesch grounds to Cooper for third out but they get six runs in the inning to blow this one open and I don’t see this Jays line-up coming back in this game.
Bottom 4th: Lots of game left but this line-up is not good enough to come back. Rivera, singles back up the middle. Arencibia, 2-2 count. Grounds to short, throw to second to get Rivera, but throw not in time to get Arencibia. One down one on for Cooper, totally overmatched, Farrell should put this kid out of his misery, grounds back to the pitcher, off his back and throw to first to easily get Cooper. Two down Arencibia in scoring position for Molina. Strikes out looking yet another Jays leadoff hitter stranded in scoring position.

Top 5th: Cabrera leading off, Tigers will want to finish this one quickly now and get out of Toronto with the three wins. Jays can look forward to a sleepless night thinking about Boston coming in for two. Fly ball to Patterson in centre. Martinez doubles to the wall in left. Kelly grounds to Cooper at first, takes the out himself as Martinez goes to third. Peralta, strikes out quickly, he wants out.
Bottom 5th: So far only Escobar and Bautista have done anything offensively for Jays, you can’t win many games with two hitters however good they may be. Escobar leading off. Scherzer only 75 pitches. Full count, ball four. Patterson, please don’t bunt. Shows bunt. Oh boy. Grounds to first throw to second back to first, not in time to get Patterson. One down for Bautista. Patterson running and safe on throw. 2-2 count on Jose. Full count, first base is now open. Whoa.... wild ball four up at the head. Semi-intentional as first base was open. Encarnacion 0-2 count, this is why they wanted Jose on base. If he doesn’t ground into a double play he pops up. I cannot understand why he is still in line-up. Strikes out swinging at ball down and away off the plate. Awful. Two down. Hill who has been just as bad tonight, 0-2 pops up to centre, two more left out there. This team is SO bad right now.

Top 6th: Avila, doubles to the right centre. And so it continues. Raburn pops up to Hill in shallow right. Jackson did all the damage in the fourth. Grounds to Hill, throw to Cooper to get Jackson Two down, Santiago lines to shallow right centre, Patterson nice sliding catch to end the inning and also save a run.
Bottom 6th: Rivera, Alburquerque now pitching. Tigers bullpen has had a holiday so far in Toronto with the no hitter yesterday, terrible at bat by Rivera strikes out swinging at two balls. Arencibia, grounds to third, throw to first, two down. Cooper 0-2 again tonight. 3-0 count, full count, strikes out swinging. Miserable display of hitting. Cooper totally outclassed, not his fault he is just not ready for the big leagues. Alex has to bring up some replacements fast.

Top 7th: Dotel pitching. Boesch, full count, ball four outside. Cabrera, strikes out swinging. One down for Martinez, high fly ball into right, 8-2 Tigers. Kelly, Dotel hits him on the foot, that was not intentional Dotel is just a bad pitcher. Kelly out of game, Inge pinch running. Peralta, singles into centre. Two on one down for Avila, 3-0 count, about to load the bases, ball four. Raburn, singles into left, 9-2 Tigers. Bases still loaded. Jackson he will be swinging away. Oh boy grounds to Encarnacion wild throw to first safe and run scores 10-2 game. Santiago strikes out looking, he wants to go home. Now Farrell is out, Dotel far too long in there. 36 pitches !!! to get two hitters. Jon Rauch now pitching. Bases still loaded. Boesch grounds to Hill throw to Cooper for third out but Dotel has really ruined this one and any chance of a comeback.
Bottom 7th: Always interesting to see how a team fights back with the game out of reach, do Jays fold? or do they fight, scratch and claw ? Heart and hustle ?? We shall see. Molina leading off. Alburquerque finishing this one off. Full count. Ball four. Escobar, one on, strikes out looking. One on, one down for Patterson. 0-3 tonight and good candidate to hit into double play here. Strikes out swinging. Two down for Bautista. Even Jose cannot hit 8 runs in one blow. 2-0 not pitching to him. 3-0 even further outside. Jose takes one. Grounds to third throw to second for third out.

Top 8th: Rauch still out there. Cabrera first pitch grounds to Escobar, throw to Cooper, one down. Martinez, 3-1 count, ball four. Inge, grounds to Escobar throw to second, on to first double play. Much too little too late I am afraid.
Bottom 8th: Benoit pitching Encarnacion, lines it to centre Jackson makes the catch at the wall. That is how to play centre Corey are you watching? One down. Hill a terrible night. Singles here to left. One down one on for Rivera, grounds to Benoit throw to second to get Hill, why did Hill not steal second pitches ago? No hustle Aaron? Rivera safe at first, Arencibia, strikes out swinging at ball down and away, he has the Vernon disease cannot lay off that pitch.

Top 9th: Casey Janssen now pitching, Peralta grounds to Escobar no chance to get runner at first. Avila, pops up to Encarnacion for the out, Bronx cheers for Edwin. Raburn pops up first pitch to Hill, two down, this game had slowed to a crawl before this inning, Jackson strikes out. The agony of tonight is almost over friends.
Bottom 9th: Will we see heart and hustle that has been missing all this game and for the last three games? Perry now pitching. Cooper 0-3 again, trying to get a walk here, now taking bat off his shoulder 3-1 count, ball four, better than nothing David, Molina with one out one on. 2-0 Perry not finding the zone here. Pitching coach out for advice. 3-0, that didn’t work. ball four. Two on for Escobar, ball one. 2-0, oh wow, 3-0, one pitch away from loading them up. Ball four and bases are loaded. Patterson. 1-0, 1-1, nice lines to the wall here comes two but Escobar out at the plate. 10-4 game. One down for Bautista. Fly ball to right centre, Jose out. Patterson to third on the throw. Encarnacion finally, singles to centre here comes Patterson. 10-5. Hill, oh man, hits him in the ribs. Two on two down and here comes Leyland. Rough inning for Perry. Those runs given up by Dotel are huge now. This could have been a 6-5 game. Valverde now pitching, Rivera with two on and two down. Wild pitch and runners move up, now two in scoring position. A single will do here. 2-2 count. Full count. Grounds to short throw to first for third out. Jays make some noise but too little too late tonight.

The good: that it was such a small crowd on hand to see such a stinker of a game. Toronto fans are wise to inferior products. Alex you need to put a better product out there to get fans back.
The bad: Patterson in centre, awful defence, missed catch in the 4th, and a second play at the wall he totally misjudged. Davis should be out there. Dotel just does not have it any more we saw that in Dunedin in spring. Those runs off Dotel turned out to be important in the ninth. Morrow was not that bad, started out well but one bad inning.

More proof for this line-up? all five runs were scored by the top three in the order. You can’t win games like that. If you were Alex and John Farrell would you be looking forwards to Boston arrival tomorrow with this line-up?
The bottom six are all under achieving bigtime
