Jays continue to leave runners in scoring position to lose games as Litsch implodes in the fifth today.

Jays v Yankees. Series finale.
Another poor crowd. Lots of empty blue seats and not just the usual infield. Big patches of blue in the outfield seats.

Lineups: Jays: Davis, Escobar, Bautista, Lind, Rivera, Arencibia, Cooper, Encarnacion, McDonald and Litsch pitching.
Yankees: Jeter, Granderson, Teixeira, A-Rod, Cano, Swisher, Posada, Gardner, Cervelli and Nova pitching.

Top 1st: Davis, strikes out, that was the pitch Rajai, just watched it. Escobar, lines to Granderson, two down for Bautista. Lines it to the wall, just chased down by Granderson, great running catch to rob Jose of at least a double. 11 pitches.
Bottom 1st: Jeter, grounds to Escobar, throw to Lind, one down for Granderson, 2-2 count, strikes out swinging, two down for Teixeira. That looked a strike. Not this one leaves it up and Teixeira lines it into the crowd in right centre, 1-0 Yankees. That was tough on Jesse he should have been out previous pitch. A-Rod. 3-0 count, come on Jesse relax. That’s better, full count. Perfect, very nice pitching strikes him out after going 3-0. 18 pitch count.

Top 2nd: Lind leading off. Whoa.... lifts lazy fly ball into left field corner, keeps on carrying and hits the foul pole, home run Adam 1-1 game. That was weird. Opposite field home run. Rivera, 3-0 count, ball four. Arencibia fly ball to right. Cooper with one on and one down. 2-2 count, more patience today from Cooper. Lifts it into shallow right. First base hit for Cooper. Classy act by Jeter to recognise that and ask Butterfield if he wants the ball and throws it to him. Two on for Encarnacion. Pops it up to Teixeira, McDonald. Lifts it to Gardner into right to end this one and leave two out there. Jays having their usual problems. 30 pitches.
Bottom 2nd: Cano, 1-2 count, strikes out, nice pitch Jesse. Swisher, 2-2 count, fantastic ctach by Jesse as Swisher lines it hard back to his left, that would have been a single into centre but Jesse gets his glove out and the ball sticks. Posada, first pitch grounds to McDonald at second, throw to Lind for the out. 30 pitches. Very nice Jesse.

Top 3rd: Davis leading off. 3-0 count, asking for trouble here Nova. Full count. Delay for umpire injury. Ball four inside. Davis now will upset Nova. Escobar, give him time to do something here Yunel. Pitch out but poor throw and Davis safe. Number four of five this season not a bad percentage. 2-2 count, strikes out. Bautista now, 1-2 count. There goes Davis, ball in dirt, Davis safe at third. Perfect grounds to Jeter, throw to Teixeira, here comes Davis 2-1 Jays. Two down. Lind, pulls it into right. 2-2 today. Rivera, grounds to Jeter throw to second to get Lind. 50 pitches.
Bottom 3rd: Gardner, 3-0 count, way high, ball four, not a great start here Jesse. Cervelli, bunts to Litsch, throw to Lind, one down Gardner at second. Jeter. Oh boy first pitch hits Jeter. Litsch erratic right now, two on. If you do this to this lineup you are asking for trouble Jess. Granderson, singles to right. Bases loaded for Teixiera. Perfecto the baseball gods are here for Jesse, grounds to Macdonald at second flip to Escobar throw to Lind double play ball to rescue Jesse and get out of the inning without any damage.

Top 4th: Arencibia, grounds to Jeter, throw to Teixiera, one down for Cooper, singles into right. Two hit day for David. Encarnacion first pitch grounds to A-Rod, throw to first for the out. Cooper at second. Johnny Mac. Grounds to A-Rod throw to first. Eight pitch inning. 58.
Bottom 4th: A-Rod leading off. Let’s hope Jesse has calmed down. 3-1 count. Pops it up to Rivera in left, one down. Cano, singles into right. Swisher, whoa!!! Grounds to Lind throw to Escobar back to Litsch double play ball. That was great play but Swisher was slow to first which definitely helped. Nice play by Lind. 50 pitches.

Top 5th: Top of the order for third time. Nova must be sick of seeing Davis. Here we go again, pulls it into left. Long single. Escobar. There goes Davis, Cervelli’s throw gets him. One down. 1-2 count. Takes strike three. Bautista with two down. 3-0 not much to hit here or Jose. Way outside ball four. Walk number 29 for Jose. Lind with two down. 0-2, same pitch inside, strikes out swinging. 72 pitches.
Bottom 5th: Posada leading off, doubles into right. Gardner, 2-0 count. Singles into right. Runners at the corners. Jesse in deep this time. Cervelli. Grounds to Escobar throw to first only play as run scores 2-2 game with one down. Top of Yankees order. Runner at second for Jeter. 2-0 count, rolling the dice here Jesse. 3-1 count, gets worse,. Jeter grounds to Escobar, throw to Encarnacion, not in time both runners safe now. Should have gone to first Yunel. Granderson with runners at third and first and only one down. 2-0 count, Litsch does not have it today. 3-0. All over the place. There’s a strike. Full count. There it goes, high into right field, three run home run to Granderson and Yankees have this one well in hand 5-2. Teixeiria, shift right on, grounds first pitch to McDonald throw to Lind two down. That error by Escobar has already cost Jays one run. A-Rod. 0-2, 2-2, strikes out swinging. But too little too late for Jesse. 75 pitches.

Top 6th: Nova has to go only one more inning before the trio of Chamberlain, Soriano and Rivera close it out. Jays playing catch up today bigtime. Rivera, 0-2 count, takes third strike. Arencibia, has been swinging early each at bat. 0-2 today. That’s better doubles to right field corner. Cooper chance for an RBI. 2-2 today. 2-0 count. Way outside, 3-0, full count, pops it up to shallow left, two down. Encarnacion 0-2 today. 0-2 count, pops it up to second. Jays go meekly. That’s it for Nova, can turn it over to the bullpen any time now. Hard to score four against that bullpen.
Bottom 6th: Litsch still out there to eat up some innings now. The good is that he has pitched into the 7th and saved bullpen today. Cano leading off. Pops up first pitch to Escobar, one down. Swisher, 2-2 count, strikes out, two down. Posada, 0-2, throwing strikes now but too little too late Jesse. Grounds to Johnny Mac, from his knees throws out Posada. 87 pitch count.

Top 7th: Nova also soaking up the pitches. McDonald leading off. 0-2 today. 2-2 count, Full count, pops up ball four to Gardner. Davis, 3-1 count, ball four in the 100th pitch. That should be it for Nova. No, staying in there. Escobar, now here comes Girardi. Bullpen was not ready. Nova did not pitch that well, just that Litsch was worse and Jays hitters didn’t take advantage. Robertson now pitching. Whoa, first pitch over head of Escobar. 1-2 count, there goes Davis , throw down and safe this time at second. 2-2 count. Strikes out swinging, that was ball three Yunel. Bautista now two down and runner on. Ball one outside, outside again 2-1 count. Full count, perfect for Davis to be running. Ball four outside. Lind with two on, tying run here. Adam 2-3 today. Jays 1-25 wiuth runensr in scoring position this weekend in New York. Ouch ouch bigtime. Patterson ??? pinch running for Jose, what is that all about? Boone Logan pitching, lefty- lefty matchup. Grounds back up the middle, Logan makes nice play, behind the back stab to get it and throw to first. Jays leave two more out there.
Bottom 7th: Gardner, Litsch still out there soaking the pitches up. 88 to date which is good, it is the runs that are bad. 1-2 count. Full count. Ball four way outside. Here comes Manager Farrell, Janssen now, Litsch had rough day today, escaping for the most part but it caught up to him in the fifth with the four runs. One on for Cervelli. Gardner stealing great throw by Arencibia out at second. Pretty play. One down. Strikes out looking two down. Jeter, 1-2 count. That was tough strikes out but ball goes to backstop and bounces back to Arencibia throw not in time. Weird. Granderson, 2-0 count. Full count. Pops up to Patterson in left, eleven pitch at bat.

Top 8th: Stadium half empty. They don’t believe Jays can fight back. Jays running out of at bats now and with Bautista out, they are really up against it. Jose has “neck tightness”. Soriano now closing the door for Rivera to finish off. The other Rivera leading off. Lines it to left, Gardner makes fine running catch. One down for Arencibia, Strikes out on three pitches, two down for Cooper. 2-3 today. 3-0 count. Ball four. On base three times today. Encarnacion, lines to right for third out (first pitch). Edwin in one of his slumps Cito always said he was streaky hitter, good but streaky.
Bottom 8th: Villanueva has the honour of the last inning barring a huge comenback against Rivera in the ninth. Teixeira, high fly ball to right for Rivera. One down for A-Rod. Mammoth pop up, hang time for ever to Arencibia, two down. Chavez, nubber up the first base line, Villanueva throw to Lind for third out. Yankees in a hurry for Sunday dinner eight pitch inning.

Top 9th: Jays last chances. Johnny Mac leading off, 0-3 today but some good plays in the field. Pops up to Granderson in centre. Davis. 2-2 count, pops up to Nunez at second, two down for Escobar, grounds to Jeter throw to first as Jays go quietly and meekly here. Nine pitches.
Jays drop below .500 yet again but did not deserve to win this one. Now they are off to an even hotter team than Yankees in Tampa.

The good: Lind home run and Davis three stolen bases, two double plays to rescue Litsch. Bautista a hit and two walks to get on base three times today. The problem is that this Yankees team is there for taking this season and Jays just unable to do it.

The very bad: Runners in scoring position 0-9 today. This is just getting worse not better as the season enters second month. Even 3-9 would have probably won this today. This is one key area Jays hitters have to work on.

The bad: Litsch skating on thin ice the whole game, two double plays enable him to escape in the 3rd and 4th innings but catches up to him in the 5th giving up four runs. Escobar going to third for the force and not getting it giving up the easy out at first which cost Jays a run on the three run home run by Granderson. The mental stuff again.
