Jays give another game away with poor situational hitting.

Toronto v New York Game two of four.
Halladay pitching and you know he will keep Jays in this one but the hitters have to get going, cannot rely on Halladay to pitch complete game shutout.

Lineups: Jays: Scutaro, Hill, Lind, Rolen, Overbay, Wells, Rios, Dellucci, Barajas and Halladay pitching. Yankees: Jeter, Damon, Teixeira, Rodriguez, Cano, Posada, Matsui, Cabrera, Gardner and Wang pitching.

The good: Lind home run. Rolen continues his hit streak. Wells and Rios with hits, and Alex three rbis.
The bad: 3/11 with runners in scoring position, and give up three double plays, tells the story over and over again with this team this season. Poor execution, no aggressive play and far too often nonchalance at the plate. Overbay and Dellucci both hitless. Halladay with three home runs and three walks today, did not seem 100% even though he kept them in the game. Team had lots of opportunities to win this one. Rotation more bad news with now Richmond on the DL with shoulder problems. This is getting ridiculous. Jays have to look into this further. Other teams are not losing rotation pitchers this fast, is it lack of conditioning, are they being overused (more likely). Cecil will start tomorrow, that’s not good news either for Jays at least unless their hitters can suddenly find their lost touch and give Cecil double figure lead. Mills also recalled from Vegas will go on Tuesday.

Top 1st: Scutaro, fly ball to centre field Gardner. Hill singles to left. Lind grounds to second base Cano on to Jeter, throw to first base Teixeira, double play.
Bottom 1st: Jeter strikes out. Damon full count and walks. Teixeira grounds to Hill throw to first base Overbay, Damon to second. Two down for Rodriguez, singles to right and Damon scores 1-0 Yankees. Rodriguez to second. Cano grounds to Overbay for the out but Yankees are wasting no time today to show who is number one. Halladay or not.

Top 2nd: Rolen pops up to second base Cano. One down for Overbay full count and walks. Lyle’s usual great eye and patience. Wells doubles to right, Overbay to third. Here’s a great chance for Jays. Rios singles to centre Overbay scores, here comes Vernon and Jays go out 2-1. Still only one out. Alex at first, is he stealing ? Dellucci grounds to pitcher Wang on to Jeter on to first base Teixeira, double play. But Jays have given Halladay a lead.
Bottom 2nd: Posada fly ball to Rios. One down for Matsui, gets hold of this one, home run to right and game tied up 2-2. Cabrera grounds to Overbay flip to Halladay. Two down. Gardner strikes out.

Top 6th: Scutaro doubles to left. Great start. Hill grounds to Jeter, holds Scutaro at second, throw to Teixeira. One down, one on for Lind. Yes indeed Adam, gets hold of this one, no question. Home run to right.Scutaro scores, Lind scores, 4-3 Jays. Rolen, one pitch and Wang is calling trainer. Something wrong here and leaves the game. Robertson pitching. Rolen full count and walks. Overbay full count and walks. Rolen to second. Robertson not having much luck here with his control. Wells with two on and one down, strikes out. Rios , singles to centre, Rolen scores 5-3 Jays. Overbay to third.Dellucci, wild pitch, Rios to second. two in scoring position. Dellucci fly ball to Gardner. Jays will regret this. They can’t keep leaving players on base and not scoring with so many runners in scoring position. This is definitely work for Spring training but far too many games have lost this season because of poor execution and finishing.
Bottom 6th: Posada fly ball to Rios. Matsui grounds to Hill throw to Overbay. Two down for Cabrera singles to right. Gardner fly ball to Wells.

Top 7th: Bruney pitching. Barajas singles to left. Scutaro singles to left, Barajas to second. Bautista pinch-running for Barajas. Hill sacrificing, Posada throws to first base Teixeira, Bautista to third, Scutaro to second. Nice job. Lind intentional walk to load them up. Rolen pops up to Cano. Two down for Overbay lines hard to Cano. Jays leave bases loaded. Not good with only one out.
Bottom 7th: Chavez in as catcher. Jeter singles to right. Damon home run to right, Jeter scores. That is execution Cito, and Jays could not in their half of the inning. Yankees tie this one up 5-5. Third home run given up by Halladay, obviously not on his game as with most of his colleagues.Teixeira grounds to Scutaro throw Overbay. Rodriguez singles to center. Cano grounds to Hill throw to Scutaro on to Overbay, double play ball saves Halladay from more damage.

Top 8th: Hughes pitching. Wells fly ball to Cabrera. Rios fly ball to Cabrera. Dellucci fly ball to Damon.
Bottom 8th: League pitching. Posada grounds to Overbay flip to League at first. Matsui doubles to left. Ransom pinch-running for Matsui. Cabrera lines out to Dellucci in left. Gardner strikes out.

Top 9th: Ransom stays in game as designated hitter. Rivera pitching. Chavez, good at bat fouling a few off here before single to left. Scutaro grounds, to Jeter on to Cano on to Teixeira, double play. Hill grounds to Rodriguez throw to Teixeira.
Bottom 9th: Accardo pitching. Jeter full count and walks. Not a great start Jeremy. Damon strikes out. That’s better.Teixeira fly ball to Wells, Jeter to second. Rodriguez intentional walk. Here comes Cito and that’s it for Accardo. Carlson pitching. Cano grounds to Hill flip to Carlson for third out..

Top 10th : Coke pitching. Lind pops to Rodriguez at third. Rolen grounds to Rodriguez throw to Teixeira. Overbay fly ball to Gardner. Three up and down very quietly.
Bottom 10th: Camp pitching. Posada strikes out. Swisher pinch-hitting for Ransom. Swisher grounds out, to Hill on to Overbay, not in time for double play. Cabrera strikes out.

Top 11th: Swisher in as designated hitter. Wells walks. Rios fly ball to Damon. Dellucci strikes out. Chavez at bat, Wells stealing and safe at second. Vernon why can’t you do this more often? Chavez fly ball to Gardner.
Bottom 11th: - Camp still in there. Gardner grounds to Hill throw to Overbay. One down.Jeter strikes out. Damon strikes out. Great pitching by Camp. They were three very good outs to get.

Top 12th: Tomko pitching. Scutaro fly ball to Damon. Hill strikes out. Lind fly ball to Cabrera.
Bottom 12th: Teixeira infield double to first. Rodriguez intentional walk. Two on for Cano, bunting, Chavez to Role and third to get Teixeira, Rodriguez to second. One down for Posada, single to centre, Rodriguez scores. Yankees win this one 6-5 but this was one Jays gave away over and over again.
Too bad as both Boston have lost for second time to Seattle and Rays have also lost. Jays blow a great chance to make up one.

Adam Lind: "We're not playing bad. We're just not playing good enough. Just need to score more runs." A lot more Adam.

Yankees now have won nine of ten, Jays hitters note. Jays have lost six of seven.

Before the game, Jeter helped Major League Baseball commemorate the 70th anniversary of Lou Gehrig's luckiest man speech, reading the famous line from the icon's stirring words during a video tribute. The Yankees also placed a wreath of red, white and blue flowers by Gehrig's plaque in Monument Park and made a $25,000 donation to Major League Baseball's "4 (diamond) ALS" initiative, an effort to raise awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - the disease that forced Gehrig out of baseball in 1939 and took his life two years later. Every player is wearing that 4ALS logo on their hats and shirts today.
