Jays win thriller in the 9th behind another strong outing by Alvarez and home run power from Bautista and Lawrie.

Orioles v Jays. Game two of three game series.

Jays lose ugly last night although Cecil pitched so well. Today they need to turn it around and more importantly get the bats going. Today Henderson Alvarez who has been so very good since he started in the rotation.

Line-ups: Orioles: Angle, Andino, Markakis, Guerrero, Hudson, Davis, Bell, Florimon, Tatum, and Vandenhurk pitching.
Jays: Escobar, Thames, Bautista, Lind, Teahen, Lawrie, Johnson, Molina, Wise and Alvarez pitching.

Top 1st: Angle leading off, fly ball to Wise in centre, one down. Andino lines it at Escobar for the second out. Markakis, singles to right. Guerrero, singles to centre, Markakis to second on the play. Davis singles to right, here comes Markakis and Guerrero to third. 1-0 Orioles and three consecutive hits off Alvarez. Bell, strikes out but Baltimore takes the early lead.
Bottom 1st: Escobar, full count, outside ball four, leadoff walk. Thames, fly ball to Markakis in right almost collides with Angle. Bautista, aggressive swing at first pitch. Jose has been taking many of those recently. Full count, goodbye ball as Jose hammers this one into second deck left field seats 2-1 Jays. Lind with one down, 2-2, grounds to second throw to Reynolds, two down for Teahen. 2-2 count. Strikes out swinging to end the inning but number 41 for Jose gives the Jays the lead.

Top 2nd: Hudson, bunting to third base side, Alvarez throw is wild and Hudson to second on the play. Error to Alvarez. Florimon another bunt call out but could have been safe, Hudson to third. One down. Tatum runner at third. Pops it up to Lind who drops it, no error given. I don’t know. Looked an out from here. Off his glove, sun or not. Strikes out swinging. Two down for Angle, singles to Bautista in right, here comes Hudson 2-2 game, Lind now owes Alvarez one as he would have been out of the inning if he had not dropped the ball. Andino, there goes Angle and Molina throw to second is in time to get him.
Bottom 2nd: Lawrie leading off. First pitch blasts this one high to left and second deck seats, home run Lawrie. 3-2 Jays. Johnson, 3-1 count, inside ball four. Walk to Johnson. Molina, there goes Johnson and ball goes off glove of Andino into centre field, Johnson moves to third. Nobody out. Molina, full count, pops it up to shallow right Markakis, Johnson holds at third, one down for Wise. High pop up to Andino at second, two down. Johnson may be wishing he had tried to go home on that previous fly ball to Markakis. Escobar, oh boy this is bad, Escobar hit on the elbow. He is in real pain and out of here. That looks very bad. He is out of here in agony. McCoy in there for Escobar, Thames, with two on. Oh dear, Johnson is picked off at third and in run down is out. That was one horrible inning.

Top 3rd: Andino, grounds to McCoy throw to Lind, one down. Markakis pops it up to Wise in centre, two down. Guerrero, 2-2 count, singles to right. Davis, lines it to the wall in centre, Guerrero all the way around to score. 3-3 game, Davis at second. Bell, lines it into centre, to Wise here comes Davis throw gets him at the plate, to end the inning. Great throw by Wise.
Bottom 3rd: Thames resumes his at bat. Pops up to Hudson, one down for Bautista. Singles to left centre, goes to second on the throw, one down one on. That is the end for Vandenhurk. 2.1 inning and 53 pitches. Zach Phillips now pitching. Lefty lefty match up with Lind. 0-2 takes strike three looking. Two down. Teahen with Jose at second. Full count, grounds to second, throw to Reynolds for third out.

Top 4th: Hudson bounces to Lind, flip to Alvarez just beats the runner, one down for Florimon. Strikes out looking. Two down for Tatum. Bounces to Lawrie, fields it with his bare hand, great throw off balance to get him at first, such a strong throw.
Bottom 4th: Lawrie, grounds to short, long throw to get Lawrie at first, one down. Johnson, full count, strikes out swinging. Molina. 3-1 count, ball four. Wise, 1-2 count, fly ball to Hudson in left to end the inning.

Top 5th: Angle, singles to centre. Andino, perfect, grounds to Johnson to McCoy over to Lind double play ball. Two down for Markakis, grounds to Lind, flip to Alvarez for third out.
Bottom 5th: Jakbauskas now pitching, McCoy, full count, pops it up to Markakis in right. Thames grounds to Florimon at short, throw to Davis at first, two down for Bautista. 2-2 today. Lines this one hard but right at Bell at third base.

Top 6th: Guerrero leading off grounds to Lawrie throw to Lind, one down. Davis, 2-2 today, full count, ball four, one on, one down. Bell pops it up to Wise, first pitch two down. Hudson, 0-2 count, grounds to Johnson at second, throw to Lind for the final out.
Bottom 6th: Troy Patton now pitching. Lind, lines this one high and hard to right but Markakis chases it down for the out. Cooper pinch hitting for Teahen, 2-2 count. High fly ball to centre but Angle makes the catch, two down for Lawrie. Grounds hard to short, Florimon unable to hold it and error on the play as Lawrie safe at first. Johnson, drives it to centre but right at Angle for third out.

Top 7th: Florimon 0-2 count, strikes out on three pitches. Tatum, lines it right back at Alvarez but Johnson makes nice play and throw to Lind for the out. Two down. Angle, grounds to McCoy, throw to Lind just gets Angle. Three up and down. Alvarez has gone seven innings today. Orioles meantime have used four pitchers.
Bottom 7th: Molina leading off. strikes out swinging. One down for Wise, grounds back up the middle but Florimon makes a nice play and throw to get Wise. Two down for McCoy. Fly ball to Angle in centre for third out.

Top 8th: Litsch now pitching. Alvarez went seven innings for 93 pitch count. Another excellent outing for Alvarez, playing for a rotation spot in 2012. Andino lines first pitch into left field corner, stand up double to welcome Litsch. Markakis, grounds to Litsch takes it himself for the out but Andino to third on the play. One down with runner at third for Guerrero. Just misses home run here as he lines one into second deck but foul. Lines to the wall in centre and Andino scores easily. Guerrero at second. Davis still with one out and runner in scoring position. Strikes out looking on three pitches. Two down. Bell, 1-2 count, takes strike three. Out of the inning but Litsch has given up the go ahead run and time is running out on the Jays hitters.
Bottom 8th: Thames hitless today, grounds to Davis at first, takes it himself to the bag and Thames remains hitless. Bautista, that is it for Patton. Willie Eyre now pitching. 2-2 count, gets under this one and goes almost vertical off home plate for catcher Tatum to make the out. That is it for Eyre, Rapada now pitching to Lind. Lefty lefty matchup and a sidearmer to boot. Lind lines it to Andino at second for third out.

Top 9th: Litsch still out there. Hudson, grounds to Lind, flip to Litsch for the out at first. One down for Florimon. Strikes out swinging. Tatum lines first pitch to centre, Wise totally misplays it and goers to the wall, Tatum all the way to third. Error to Wise, But Jays in trouble here, they don’t want to give up any more runs. Angle 1-2 count, grounds to McCoy throw to Lind, narrowly gets him at first, that was much too close on an infield grounder like that. Orioles leave the runner at third.
Bottom 9th: Now Jays last chance to tie this one up. Rapada still pitching, Showalter loves his matchups. Another lefty lefty with Cooper, strikes out swinging on three pitches. Showalter was right this time. Here he comes to make another change, this time his closer ex-Jay Kevin Gregg to get two outs and win this game. Lawrie, 2-2 count, strikes out swinging, two down for Johnson, last chance for the Jays here, full count, ball four. Molina with Johnson at first. singles past a diving into left, Johnson to second, two on but still with two down. Woodward pinch running for Molina. Loewen pinch hitting for Wise. 2-1 count, oh he hits him, bases loaded. Incredible. Arencibia, pinch hitting for McCoy, crowd on their feet now. Gregg now in trouble. Oh wild pitch gets away and Johnson scores on the throw. This game is all tied up. Two down and two in scoring position. 3-1 count, Gregg has to come in to him now. OH YES JP. Lines it into left here comes Woodward and Jays have won this one 5-4 in dramatic fashion. What a finish. A strike away from losing it and they come back to tie and then win it. That was huge.

The excellent: Alvarez giving seven strong two run innings Johnson on full count with two out, draws a walk in bottom of ninth to keep the hopes alive, one pitch away from losing the game. Molina, single, Loewen walk and then of course wild pitch to Arencibia and a winning single.
Not to be forgotten: Bautista with home run number 41 and Lawrie number 9.
Really bad: Second inning with runner at third and nobody out and could not score. That hurts. Jays go 1-5 with runners in scoring position but that one won the game.
The also bad: Loss of Escobar hit on the elbow. Lte us hope that it is not a season ending injury.
