Power home runs from Encarnacion, Lind and Rasmus enough behind Morrow gem

Jays v Mariners. Game three.

Power bats from the Jays last night showed what this line-up is capable of. Now the question is can they do it again and again? The highlights were undoubtedly Rasmus and Lawrie but also Hill and that is the huge question, can Aaron do it again and even go on a tear for the last two months. Everybody is in his corner and wants him to produce although they have tired over the course of the season. Tonight Morrow makes his return to Seattle, so far I think Mariners have had the better of the deal with the 30 saves from League but closers are funny animals and who knows how he will be next season whereas Morrow should be getting even better in the rotation. Rookie pitcher for the Mariners tonight, always give the Jays a headache. But then again, Lawrie and Rasmus have not seen many AL pitchers anyway and they seem to be doing quite well so far at least.

Line-ups: Jays: Escobar, Thames, Bautista, Lind, Encarnacion, Rasmus, Lawrie, Hill, Molina ( the only change from last night’s game) and Morrow pitching.
Mariners: Suzuki, Gutierrez, Ackley, Carp, Wells, Robinson, Seager, Bard, Wilson and Beaven pitching.
Top 1st: Escobar, grounds to third, throw to first, one down for Thames. 2-2 count, takes strike three, two down for Bautista. 2-2 count, opposite field single into right. One on for Lind. 1-2 count, strikes out swinging.
Bottom 1st: Ichiro, grounds to Escobar at short, throw to Lind, one down for Gutierrez, 2-2 count, grounds to Escobar throw to Lind, two down for Ackley. Strikes out swinging on three pitches, nice 12 pitch first inning for Morrow.
Top 2nd: Encarnacion, 1-2 count, there she goes, crushes it into left, over the wall and off the scoreboard, home run for Encarnacion 1-0 Jays. Rasmus, I wonder how he feels when he sees all these Jays hitters and their home runs. 1-2 count, grounds to second, throw to first for the out. Lawrie, full count, grounds to third, throw to first for the out, two down for Hill. Pulls it to left but gets under it and pops it up to left field for third out. Jays get on the board first. Pitch count 28.
Bottom 2nd: Carp, 0-2 count, strikes out swinging on 98 mph, hmmm! Wells, 1-2 count, strikes out looking, two down for Robinson, 1-2 count, strikes out swinging. Strikes out the side and now has four. Pitch count 24.
Top 3rd: Molina leading off, singles back up the middle. One on for Escobar. Same again singles in exactly the same place, someone needs to plug that hole, Two nobody down for Thames, bunting? not like that, grounds first pitch to second to the bag and back to first double play ball. Molina to third for Bautista. 2-0 count, outside ball three, the chorus for Jose. Ball four and yet another walk for Jose. Lind with two on and two down. OH YES Adam, lines this opposite field hot over the fence, just kept on carrying, here comes Molina, here comes Bautista and here comes Lind, three run home run for Lind, 4-0 Jays. Encarnacion. 22 count, oh boy hits him flush on the left hand, that hurts. Rasmus, Edwin is running and throw to second gets him sliding. Not sure that was a great idea Edwin with Rasmus hitting. Pitch count 62 for Beaven.
Bottom 3rd: Seager 1-2 count, strikes out swinging. Morrow has struck out the last five hitters. Bard, not this one, pops it up into left corner and Thames leaning into crowd get makes the catch and falls over the low wall into the crowd. Wow that was Thames ! usually very shaky in those plays at the wall. Great play, two down. Wilson, full count, Ball four, first walk for Morrow. Ichiro, lifts it in to shallow right, Hill backpedalling makes a great over the head catch. Two great fielding plays by the Jays to help Morrow out here. Pitch count 40.
Top 4th: Rasmus continues from last inning, swings for the fences and there she goes, great swing and over the fence in centre, home run for Colby, 5-0 Jays. Lawrie full count, shatters his bat as he grounds to second, throw just beats him, one down. Hill, grounds to Ackley at second throw to first two down for Molina. Grounds to short, throw to first to get Molina but Jays add another. All runs tonight off three home runs. Pitch count 79.
Bottom 4th: Gutierrez, 1-2 count, lines it high to right centre but Rasmus tracks it down for the catch almost over runs it. One down for Ackley, full count, strikes out swinging, two down. Carp, singles into right, first hit off Morrow tonight. Wells, another full count, strikes out swinging to end the inning. Much longer for Morrow but no damage done. Pitch count 62.
Top 5th: Escobar leading off. 2-2 count, high and inside almost hits him, full count, that should wake you up Yunel, make him pay for that pitch. Does his best by lining it to Gutierrez in centre but that is 405 at the fence just misses, long out. Thames, 3-1 count, ball four, that was inside, catcher asked for it down and away, Bautista, 0-2 count, ball gets away and Thames safe at second, 2-2 count, Cortes warming up in bullpen. Strikes three looking Jose thought well outside and he is right on the replay, two down for Lind. First pitch fly ball to Gutierrez in centre to end the inning. Pitch count 98. That might be it for Beaven tonight.
Bottom 5th: Robinson, 2-2 count, lines it to right, Bautista hardly moves for the catch, one down. Seager, 1-2 count, high and inside, a message there. 2-2 count, strikes out swinging, two down for Bard. 1-2 count, strikes out looking. Number nine for Morrow. Pitch count 76.
Top 6th: Dan Cortes now pitching, Encarnacion, fly ball to centre, one down. Rasmus, lines to Ackley at second, throw to Carp at first, two down for Lawrie, quiet and hitless tonight. Grounds to Seager at third, long throw just gets Lawrie at first.
Bottom 6th: Wilson, strikes out swinging, number ten for Lawrie, one down for Ichiro. 2-2 count, bounces high and slowly to Hill no chance to get Ichiro safe at first. Gutierrez, 0-2 count, wild pitch and Ichiro takes second. 2-2 count. High fly ball to centre, bounces off the wall here comes Ichiro to score. 5-1 Jays and Gutierrez safe at second on the row. Ackley, full count, low ball four, two on for Carp. Morrow looking tired out there, not as sharp as he was earlier, here comes Bruce Walton, pitch count at 98. Carp 1-2 count, strikes out swinging. Wells, oh no hits him in the face, looks like the nose, that would hurt so much, he is throwing high 90`s. Bases loaded. Kennedy pinch running. Robinson now hitting. Jesse Litsch ready. 2-2 count, strikes out looking, number twelve on the night but a 34 pitch inning and probably his last tonight. Morrow escapes major damage there with the bases loaded.
Top 7th: Cortes still pitching, Hill leading off, pops it up to left, Robinson makes the catch at the wall. One down for Molina. Slow bouncer to third, throw in time to get Molina, two down for Escobar. 3-1 count, grounds to Seager at third, fumbles the ball and Escobar safe at first. Error to Seager. Thames, nice swing lines it to centre but Gutierrez has it for the third out.
Bottom 7th: Litsch now pitching. Seager leading off. 3-0 Litsch unable to find the zone here, ball four, not what Manager Farrell wanted. One on for Bard, 2-0 come on Jesse, get it down. There we go, 2-1 high pop up to Thames in left, one down for Wilson, Seager takes second on the throw back in. 0-2 count, grounds to Lawrie, throw is high and pulls Lind off the bag, runner safe, two on one down for Ichiro. Error to Lawrie.1-2 count, Casey Janssen warming up in bullpen. There we go grounds to Escobar steps on the bag at second and fires to Lind at first double play ball to rescue Litsch here. Very nice. Hard to double up Ichiro.
Top 8th: Jays need some insurance runs here I think. Chance Ruffin now pitching. Bautista leading off. Full count, strikes out on high pitch Jose arguing on that call and he has a good point but no good as Farrell gets out there fast to get him out of there. One down for Lind, lines it to Gutierrez in centre, two down for Encarnacion, bounces to short, throw to Kennedy at first for third out.
Bottom 8th: Casey Janssen now pitching. Gutierrez leading off. 1-2 count, grounds to Escobar, throw to Lind, one down for Ackley, 1-2 count, strikes out looking, two down for Carp. Pops up to Escobar to end the inning.
Top 9th: Jamey Wright now pitching. Rasmus leading off, full count, grounds to Kennedy at first throw to Wright for the out. Lawrie hitless and an error tonight, last chance to amend. 3-1 count, inside ball four, that is ok. Just be careful out there and don’t get throw out. Hill also hitless tonight. Grounds to short, throw to second to get Lawrie but throw to Kennedy at first is late, Hill safe, two down for Molina. There goes Hill and beats the throw safe at second. 2-2 count, grounds to Ackley at second throw to Kennedy at first for the out.
Bottom 9th: Francisco pitching. Kennedy leading off, first at bat tonight, 2-2 count, grounds to Lind at first, throw to Francisco covering for the out. One down for Robinson, 0-2 count, lines it to Rasmus in centre, two down for Seager, fly ball top Thames in left and Jays win this one 5-1 and the series 2-1 and also pick up games on Yankees who lost to Kansas and Boston who lost at home to Tampa.
Lots of power tonight all the runs from home runs by Lind, Encarnacion and Rasmus.
Good: Thames catch falling in to the crowd in left field. All five Jays runs tonight off three home runs. Morrow had a stretch of five consecutive strike outs,
The bad: Not tonight, maybe the two errors to Lawrie and Escobar
