Off-day as Jays bats regroup, we hope.

Day off today for Jays but I hope they are all taking batting p back in Toronto. Two runs in 27 innings is not good at all. This line-up has so much hitting potential and could easily pile up the runs against any opposition. A mystery sometimes when they win big for a couple of nights and then go completely the opposite way and get shutout. Yesterday they escaped further embarrassment of a shutout with excellent pitching from both Perez and Janssen. Add in the X factor of Jose Bautista with bat and glove and they have the trump card for such situations.

Too soon to evaluate Luis Perez but it would be a very pleasant end of season gift for the Jays rotation if he could be a permanent spot. Add in the possible return of McGowan and it could be an interesting September with Alvarez, Perez and McGowan going for the last two rotation spots.

This series Kansas City and a chance to do well but you know the Jays; they always struggle against weaker teams. Still struggling Hill at second, just unable to break out with any consistency. Encarnacion in one of his early season slumps but on the other hand the emergence of Rasmus and Lawrie is compensating for the others, both seem to getting more comfortable and certainly Lawrie is making a difference in the energy of this team and fast becoming a fan favourite as he is fulfilling all the hype that preceded him all season long.
The test will come as he becomes known around the league and the second time around as teams adjust. Will he be able to adjust also? Certainly an interesting end of season ahead.
