Jays lose in the 11th yet another one run game against Boston.

Game two Jays v Red Sox in Boston. Saturday August 21.
All Jays fans should read the “Boston Globe” and “Boston Herald” today, disaster in Beantown. Chicken Little was right.
No kudos of course to the Jays hitters and pitchers. In fact hard to find a mention of Cecil. But that’s ok. Jays have to repeat this evening and again tomorrow. They don’t mind being underdogs if they can humiliate the Red Sox. I still find in difficult to imagine a 16 run game without Hill or Wells getting an RBI. And without Lind in lineup, there is the heart of last year’s batting order. This team is so very different this year.
Of the many, many comments from fans this one I really like and wonder myself. I am sure that more than few clubs noted that performance last night by Lyle and it would certainly help his contract year.
So, Lyle Overbay hit more home runs off of a lefthanded pitcher in three innings than David Ortiz has all season. And, he cleared waivers.”

Tonight very tough matchup. Ricky Romero against Dice-K. Ricky we need a one hitter or similar, please. And it would be great to see some of the other hitters come through tonight. Vernon, Aaron ???
Yankees have already won this afternoon.

Lineups: Jays: Lewis, Escobar, Bautista, Wells, Buck, Hill, Overbay, McDonald, Snider. Cito has the same as last night and why not, for once I agree 100% with you Cito.
Red Sox: Scutaro, Drew, Martinez, Ortiz, Beltre, Lowell, Hall, Navarro, McDonald.
Pitching: Matsuzaka v Romero.

Top 1st: Lewis leading off. 1-2 count. Strikes out swinging, one down for Escobar. Grounds to Navarro at second, throw to first, two down. Bautista, yet to get a hit off Matsuzaka 0-9. 1-2 count, pops up to Scutaro at short. Three up and down tonight. Pitch count 11.
Bottom 1st: Which Romero is out there tonight? Scutaro leading off. Singles into left. There goes the no hitter, now relax Ricky. One on for Drew. 1-2 count. Strike three. Drew doesn’t like that. Martinez one down one on. 2-2 count. Pops up to Wells in centre. Two down. Ortiz, 2-2 count. Strikes out swinging. Pitch count 16. Nice going Ricky.

Top 2nd: Wells leading off. 3 for his last 25 at bats, time to break out here Vernon. 1-2 count. Pops up 10 feet for Beltre at third to make easy catch, one down for Buck. Doubles off the wall in left centre. Hill, with runner in scoring position oh boy, grounds first pitch to Scutaro, throw to first two down. Hill just gets worse. There is nowhere to hide him in this lineup. Overbay, takes first pitch watch this guy Aaron. 3-0 count. Throwing away from Lyle here, now intentional ball four. Two on two down for Johnny Mc. in the lineup again. Fly ball to centre for third out. Pitch count 27.
Bottom 2nd: Beltre grounds to Escobar, off his glove, error to Escobar. Jays cannot afford these errors tonight. One on for Lowell. Lines it at Johnny Mc throw to first but runner back in time. One down for Hall. YES, YES, grounds to Escobar throw to Hill, over to Overbay, double play ball. Very nice. Rescues Escobar. Pitch count 20. Two first pitch outs will do that for you along with a double play ball.

Top 3rd: Snider leading off. 2-2 count. Missing those 93mph fastballs Travis. Strike three looking. When you miss those fast balls Travis that breaking ball will kill you. Lewis, one down. Singles into centre. One on one down for Escobar, you owe Ricky one Yunel. Lewis running and safe at second. Now bring him in. 0-2 count. Strikes out swinging, arguing the call. Bautista, with two down. 3-1 count. Lewis going and safe at third. Full count. Drives it to centre McDonald has it for the third out. Jays getting closer but not enough yet. Pitch count 44.

Bottom 3rd: Navarro leading off. Full count. Grounds to Escobar, throw to Overbay, one down. McDonald. 3-0 count. Come on Ricky. Ball four outside. Scutaro now with one on. 2-2 count. This is trouble, lines it into right, stand up double. Two in scoring position for Drew. Hits him first pitch, bases loaded for Martinez. Singles into right, here comes McDonald followed by Scutaro on the throw, too high to get him. 2-0 Boston. Ortiz with one down and two on. 1-2 count. Grounds slowly to Hill at second throw to Overbay for second out. No chance for two. Beltre with two down and two in scoring position. Full count. Perfect strikes him out looking great curve. Pitch count 48. Could have been a whole lot worse there.

Top 4th: Wells leading off. Lines it into centre for McDonald. One down for Buck. 1-1 count. Fly ball to McDonald, two down for Hill. Full count. Ball four. Overbay with one on and two down. 2-1 count. First strike in seven pitches to Lyle in two at bats. 3-1. Strike taken, Full count, and ball four for Lyle, getting great respect from Matsuzaka tonight, two on. Johnny Mc. lines it to centre, off the glove of McDonald, here comes Hill, here comes Overbay on the throw, out at home plate. Jays get one back. 2-1. game. Pitch count. 63
Bottom 4th: Lowell leading off. 0-2 count. Lines it to Escobar at short. One down for Hall, pops up to Bautista in right, two down. Navarro, bounces this high to third, oh boy yes indeed Johnny Mc great play gets this high bouncer and throw to Overbay for third out. Johnny Mc. night. With bat and glove, that was a great play at third. Pitch count 54.

Top 5th: Snider leading off, bunting. Pops up to Navarro at second, one down for Lewis. 1-2 count. Strikes out swinging, high ball outside two down. Escobar. First pitch pop up to shallow right. Not a great at bat Yunel. Pitch count 70.
Bottom 5th: McDonald leading off 2-2 count. Strikes out swinging, one down for Scutaro. 2-2 tonight. Singles off the wall in left. One on one down. Drew, 1-2 count. Singles into right. Two on one down for Martinez. Full count. Singles into right, here comes Scutaro. 3-1 Boston. Ortiz with one down and two on. Full count. Strikes out swinging, two down. Beltre, not out of trouble yet. Pops up into centre, drops in. here comes Drew for run four. Lowell. 1-2 count. Strikes out swinging leaves two on. 4-1 Boston. Pitch count 86 though for Romero. 32 pitch inning. Not good at all.

Top 6th: Jays hitters had better find some pop soon. Bautista leading off. That’s better singles into left. One on for Wells. Time Vernon did something with his bat, long overdue. There you go Vernon, doubles to the wall in left centre. Bautista to third. Buck with two in scoring position. Mound conference here. 0-2 count. Lines to centre, Bautista tags and scores, 4-2 game. One down for Hill. Also long overdue like Vernon. Come on Aaron. Bring him in. 2-1 count. Pops up to Scutaro, two down. Overbay now, will he get anything to hit? OH BOY Lyle, hammers this one to right this time, HUGE into the seats, ten rows behind bullpen. 4-4 game. McDonald just misses in left. Corner almost back to back. 0-2 count. Strikes out swinging but Jays are back in this game big time. Pitch count 89.
Bottom 6th: Hall leading off 1-2 count. Strikes out swinging. One down for Navarro. 0-2 count. Grounds back to Romero nice grab throw to Overbay for out number two. McDonald. 2-2 count. Grounds to Escobar at short, throw to Ovebay for third out. Pitch count 98.

Top 7th: Snider leading off, rough night for Travis so far. We have not seen much power from him either for some time. 2-2 count. Strikes out swinging. Lewis, 0-2 count. Strikes out swinging. Escobar with two down. hitless tonight. 1-1 count. Grounds to Scutaro at short, throw to first for third out. Pitch count 100.
Bottom 7th: Scutaro leading off three hit night. 2-2 count. Frasor working in Jays bullpen. Full count to Scutaro. Grounds to Overbay takes it himself for the out. One down for Drew. Singles into left, that might be it for Romero. No still in there for Martinez. Cito gambling. 2-0 count. Singles into left. Here comes Ortiz. Two on and only one out. 2-0 count. Fly ball to Snider in left two down. Here comes Cito. Ttat was quick, and leaves him in there. Beltre now with two on. 2-2 count. Strikes out swinging. Pitch count 117. Cito’s gamble pays off this time.

Top 8th: Can Jays get to Matsuzaka now? The big bats coming up. Bautista leading off. 0-2 count. Bounces to Navarro at second throw to first, one down. Wells, need another hit here Vernon. Over the wall. Good try, lines it to the wall in centre but McDonald gets it. Two down. Buck with two down, 1-2 count. Strikes out swinging. Pitch count 109.
Bottom 8th: Frasor now pitching. Lowell leading off. Pops it up and off glove of Escobar, his second error tonight. Ball bounces into crowd ground rule double. Snider had much better shot at it but Escobar had it also was there with his glove. Kalish now pinch running. Hall. Bunting. 1-2. Strikes out swinging. One down. Nava pinch hitting. Now here comes Cito. Downs will be pitching. Lowrie now pinch hitting for the pinch hitter. One down Kalish pinch runner at second. full count. Ball four but that could be semi-intentional. Here comes Cito, Camp now to get that ground ball, we all hope…... Two on one down. McDonald hitting. 2-2 count. Carlson working in bullpen. Cito gambling all round tonight. Strikes out swinging. Two down. Scutaro now though. Two down two on. Not the guy you want to see here. Perfect grounds to Escobar throw to Hill at second for third out. Nice job done by Camp.

Top 9th: Daniel Bard now pitching. Lowrie at first. Hall in left. Hill leading off. Ok Aaron your last chance tonight. 1-2 count. Strikes out. May want to sit him tomorrow Cito. Put Johnny Mc. at second. Overbay now, one down. 1-1 count. Grounds up the middle to Hall at second, throw to Lowrie for the out, two down for Johnny Mc. Great shot hammers it to third, great catch by Beltre. That saved a double. Tough for Johnny Mc.
Bottom 9th: Carlson now pitching. Drew leading off. Full count. Ball four. Martinez with one on. Pops up to Escobar, does not drop this one. One down for Ortiz. Perfect grounds to Overbay throw to Escobar at second, back to first to Carlson for yes sirree double play. Perfect. However that out by Lyle in the 4th thrown out at the plate is huge now. If he had scored no need for extra innings.

Top 10th: Extra innings. These two teams have six ? one run games this season already. Snider leading off. 1-1 count. Travis 0-3 tonight, bounces on high to Hall at second throw not in time and gets away at first Travis to second on the play. Error to Hall. Travis in scoring position. Lewis, grounds to Scutaro, Travis picked off between bases. Tags him out. Lewis at first one down. Escobar now really owes his teammates with those two errors, chance to pay back. Not like that, grounds first pitch to third throw to second on to first double play ball. That was awful, especially when leadoff runner at second and no outs. But Escobar is having a nightmare game and definitely the goat tonight. Problem for Cito though does he sit Hill or Escobar tomorrow. Both playing equally poorly. Only one Johnny Mc. though to replace them both.
Bottom 10th: Casey Janssen now pitching. Beltre leading off. Grounds to Escobar at second throw to Overbay, one down. Kalish with one down. 3-1 count. Bounces to Hill throw to Janssen for the out at first, two down. Hall, fly ball to Snider for third out.

Top 11th: Here comes Papelbon. Bautista leading off, this should be interesting. Showing bunt. 2-2, bounces to Beltre at third, throw to first one down. Wells now, full count, grounds to Beltre at third, throw to first. Two down for Buck. 1-1, pops it up and Lowrie now drops it in foul ground. Great break for Buck. Error on the play. 2-2 count. Swings over ball three.
Bottom 11th: Janssen still pitching Lowrie leading off.2-2 count. Gets hold of this one, just over the wall in right centre into Boston bullpen. Jays lose this one 5-4. The seventh one run game between these two teams this season and Boston has won five of them.

The good: Overbay with that mammoth home run. Camp in the 8th to get two with game on the line. Frasor, Downs, Camp and Carlson scoreless relief.

The terrible: Escobar and Hill tonight, joint goats. Escobar with his fielding and two errors and also his at bats. Is this what Atlanta saw in him ? Hill another awful night at the plate. Cito has a problem at second as well as short.
