Bautista extra innings home run and his second of the game wins a thriller

Jays v Indians. Game three of four.

Jays excellent win last night and what I think was most remarkable was the fact that neither Bautista nor Lind was involved in the hit parade. Instead it was Travis Snider and Rajai Davis who between them scored nine of the eleven rbis. Add in the excellent defense and Villanueva pitching and this was a great all-round victory even without Jose and Adam. Tough ten game winner tonight in Tomlin.

Line-ups: Jays: Escobar, Thames, Bautista, Lind, Hill, Encarnacion, Snider, Molina, Davis and Morrow pitching.
Indians: Brantley, Asdrubel Cabrera, Hafner, Santana, Sizemore, Buck, LaPorta, Valbuena, Hannahan, and Josh Tomlin pitching.

Top 1st: Escobar, grounds to short, throw to first, one down for Thames. Lines it hard to centre, off the wall and Thames in to second. Bautista, 3-0 count, poor Jose never gets anything to even swing at. Ball four. Two on for Lind. 2-2 count, singles to right, here comes Thames. 1-0 Jays. Bautista to third. Hill now with two on. Aaron also hitless last night. 0-2 count. Goes after a pitch head high, pops it to up to short, that was one awful at bat Aaron, two down for Encarnacion. Even worse, pops up to first. Hill and Encarnacion early goats tonight. Terrible at bats. Even a bunt by Hill would have scored Jose.
Bottom 1st: Brantley, 0-2 count, strikes out looking, one down for Cabrera, grounds to Lind at first, throw to Morrow, two down. Hafner. Lines it right at Hill for third out. At least he still has his glove working. Three up and down for Morrow. Good first inning. 12 pitches.

Top 2nd: Snider leading off, he should be and probably will be hitting behind Lind very soon as Hill drops down. Strikes out this time. One down for Molina, grounds to third, throw to first, two down for Davis. High fly ball to centre but right at Sizemore for third out,
Bottom 2nd: Santana, full count, outside ball four. One on for Sizemore. Another full count, singles to Snider in left, two on nobody out. Buck, 2-0, Morrow has lost it here. Fly ball to Snider in left for the first out. Santana tags and gets to third on the throw. One down two on for LaPorta, lines it to Thames in right makes the catch but Santana tags and scores easily 1-1 game. Two down. Luis Valbuena. Strikes out swinging but a 24 pitch inning by Morrow, and he gets what he deserves. Not good.

Top 3rd: Escobar, full count, lines it to Buck in right for first out. Thames, 0-2 count, goes after high pitch, strikes out, two down for Bautista, will they give him anything to hit? Two walks last night another already tonight. 1-0, that’s why, lines a bullet into the left field seats, one of the few strikes they have thrown at him in two games, No doubt about this one as it left the bat. Home run number 30 before the All-Star break a new Jays record beating that of George Ball which has lasted almost 25 years. 2-1 Jays. Lind, grounds back up the middle throw to first for final out.
Bottom 3rd: Morrow has the lead back don’t waste it. Hannahan grounds to Hill, throw to Lind, one down for Brantley, 2-0 count. Grounds to Lind, takes it himself for second out. Cabrera, pops up first pitch to Escobar. Much better inning by Morrow. Six pitch inning. 41 pitch count.

Top 4th: Tomlin has hardly sat down. Hill leading off. Pulls it to Hannahan at third, throw to first, one down. Encarnacion. Please take a couple here Edwin. He does, 1-2 count, lines it to short, great catch by Cabrera. Two down for Snider, lines it into centre, two down one on for Molina. 2-2 count. Perfect Jose. Lines it to the wall in right centre, here comes Travis and Buck’s throw misses the cut-off guy, Travis beats the throw 3-1 Jays. Double for Molina. Davis, pops up to LaPorta at first for the third out. But Jays get one more.
Bottom 4th: Hafner, shift right, with Bautista behind Lind in shallow right, 0-2 count, strikes out on three pitches. Santana, full count, ball four, how can he strike out Hafner on three and then do this? One on one down for Sizemore. This is trouble, lines it to right centre, over the glove of Thames, two run home run and there goes that lead, just like that. 3-3 game. Buck, grounds to Bautista at third, throw to Lind, two down. LaPorta, does not like the call but it is a strike. 1-1 count, grounds to Bautista, throw to Lind for third out but Sizemore did some damage here.

Top 5th: Escobar leading off. 3-1 count, drives it to Sizemore in center, hissy fit by Yunel as he slams bat on the ground snapping it in two. one down for Thames. Hits him on the elbow. One on one down for Bautista. Toronto fans are singing. Pops it up to Santana, two down for Lind. Lines it to right, Buck unable to catch this Thames stops at third but ball gets away at first and here comes Thames 4-3 Jays. Error to Buck. Lind to second. Hill, grounds back to Tomlin, a pathetic little hit, thrown out at first and Hill is down the line-up tomorrow, if at all. I would not be surprise to seem ay number eight.
Bottom 5th: Valbuena, lines it to Escobar, nice jump for the out. Hannahan strikes out looking, two down. Brantley, lines it to Davis in centre for third out. Much better inning for Morrow. Pitch count 67.

Top 6th: Encarnacion, 2-0 count, good hit for Edwin but to deep 400 ft part of the ground and out in centre. One down for Snider, 2-2 count. Drives this one but a high fly ball to Buck in right. Two down for Molina. 2-2 count. Close but ball three. Doublers into left field corner, his second double tonight. Davis lines it hard but right at Hannahan at third. Molina left out there.
Bottom 6th: Cabrera, singles to Snider in left. One on for Hafner. Shift right on again for him with Bautista behind Lind. Risky move with guy on first, full count, strikes out swinging, second in consecutive at bats. One down for Santana, full count. Grounds to Hill makes nice diving save and throw to Lind to get him, two down for Sizemore, be careful here Brandon. Ball gets away and Cabrera moves to third.Strikes him out swinging, huge strikeout for Morrow.

Top 7th: It would be nice to get some insurance runs here friends. Top of the order, Escobar leading off. Submariner Joe Smith now pitching. ERA under 1.00. Grounds to second throw to first, one down for Thames. Grounds to second throw to first, two down for Bautista. Full count, grounds to first takes it himself for the third out.
Bottom 7th: Buck, 1-2 count, nubber in front of the mound Morrow takes it himself throw to Lind, one down. LaPorta, 0-2 count, strikes out swinging. Two down for Valbuena. Strikes out swinging. Number eight for Morrow tonight.

Top 8th: Jays need some runs. Rafael Perez now pitching. Lind leading off. Good start singles into centre. Hill who has had yet another horrible game so far at bat. Has looked totally confused. Fly ball to Buck, if he had thrown that in a little faster there Buck might have doubled up Lind off base, that throw was very close. Hill 0-4 on the night as well as hitless last night... One down for Encarnacion. 2-0 count, seems preoccupied with Lind at first as if he were a threat to steal. 3-0 count. Grounds to third throw to second to get Lind no chance to double up Edwin throw late. One on two down for Snider. McCoy pinch running for Edwin. There goes McCoy first pitch and safe on the throw. 2-2 count. Grounds to second throw to first.
Bottom 8th: Morrow on 99 pitches. Hannahan 2-2 count, grounds to Escobar, throw to Lind, one down. Brantley, whoa, lines this to Thames that was hit very hard, to the wall, in right centre. Two down for Cabrera grounds to Hill at second throw to Lind for third out.

Top 9th: Masterson pitching. Molina two doubles tonight. Not this time, strikes out swinging, one down for Davis. Jon Rauch warming up in bullpen. Full count, pops up to LaPorta at first, two down for Escobar. 0-4 tonight. Showing patience here 3-1 count, ball four. Thames now can you get on for Bautista. Full count, grounds to LaPorta at first, takes it himself leaving Jose on the on-deck circle.
Bottom 9th: Rauch now, hang on to those heart pills friends. Guess who leading off. Hafner it is. Battle of the big guys. Singles into centre. At least it was not a home run. Pinch runner Kearns. Santana, 2-1 count, whoa grounds back to Rauch off his glove to Lind throw to Rauch just gets Santana at first, one down but Kearns at second. Sizemore. Grounds back to Rauch throw to Lind for second out, Kearns to third though on the play. Two down runner at third. Buck, strike one, strike two, outside ball one, fouls it off, fouls off another, low ball two. Fouls it off, lines it to left foul, pops it up into third base dugout. Fouls it off. Oh no, lines it to left centre, here comes the run and Buck is in at second. 4-4 game but that was some at bat by Buck, twelve pitches. Sometimes you have to give credit to the hitter. La Porta, grounds to third, throw to Lind for third out. But one pitch too late.

Top 10th: Chris Perez with 21-22 saves this season. If you want to win you have to beat the best. Bautista leading off. INCREDIBLE...IS THIS GUY FOR REAL. Jose does it again. Launches first pitch rocket in to the seats in left centre another home run for Jose. 5-4 Jays. Lind, 2-2 count. Lines it into left, for first out. Now Hill, about time this guy had a hit and contributed to this team. 0-4 tonight. 3-1 count, lines it to centre, 0-5 night. Two down for McCoy, full count. Nice, grounds to Hannahan at third, knocks it down but throw late at first, McCoy has speed. Snider, strikes out. One run game Jays get a second chance but is one run enough.
Bottom 10th: Here we go again. Camp now pitching. Had a horrible last outing. Hmmm. Ok John. Valbuena, high pop up to Escobar, one down. Hannahan grounds first pitch to Lind, takes it himself two down but now the top of the order for Brantley. 3-0 count, why is the last out the most difficult tonight. Full count, finally lines it to Snider in left to make the catch. Almost the same as that hit by Buck but not quite this time. Jays win big-time and now lead the series 2-1 with final game tomorrow.

Rauch blows the save and gets the win !!! and Camp the save. Hollywood ending in Cleveland.

The truly excellent: Jose Bautista two home runs but none better than the winning run in top of the 10th and once again off one of the premier pitchers with 21-22 saves this season. What an incredible performance and of course in the clutch. After last night going without any hit, he has two home runs tonight.

The very good: Yes Morrow eight innings work with his eight strikeouts and saving the bullpen. One not so good inning in the second but that was it.

The good: Lind with three hits tonight. Camp with the save. Molina with two doubles.

The not so good: Hill and Encarnacion in the first with runner at third and only one down could not bring him in. One went after head high pitch, the other first pitches careless swinging by Encarnacion, all or nothing for Edwin every at bat. Escobar hissy fit, we don’t need that Yunel.

The also very good: At least Jays do not have to deal with the Jeter 3000 hit circus next week, that would have really been too much for Jays fans to stomach if he had hit it in Toronto.
