Jays give this one away and BJ blows save

Toronto v Texas. Friday August 1, 2008.

This could be a blowout series. Texas has five hitters with average over .300. Toronto has one. Texas has four players with more RBIs than leading Jay Rios with 47That is twelve less than the fourth Texas player and 57 !! less than Hamilton burning up the league with 104. This Texas side can hit bigtime. Jays need their pitchers in this series.

Lineups Toronto: Inglett, Scutaro, Rios, Overbay, Lind, Stairs, Barajas, Rolen, Eckstein and Marcum pitching.
Texas: Kinsler, Catalanotto, Young, Hamilton, Byrd, Murphy, Laird, Davis, Vazquez and Hunter pitching.

The good: HR’s by Rolen with two on, Overbay with one on. Lind triple in the 9th to go ahead.
The bad: Same old, same old, double play balls, two of them tonight and 1 for 8 with runners left in scoring position. BJ blown save.

The game: Top 1st: Inglett at bat, grounds out second pitch to Kinsler 2B throw to Davis 1B. one down. If Inglett is going to be leradoff he has t take a few more pitches here. Scutaro which game has be brought tonight? Full count here much more patient than Inglett’s at bat. Pops it up to Kinsler two down for Rios. Grounds weakly here to `1B but Hunter blocks Rios Davis pushes Hunter out of the way but into Rios. Weird play but Rios will take it Overbay now with Alex on, has to steal here. Put some pressure on Hunter. There he goes but Overbay fouls off. No he doesn’t catcher interference and Overbay to 1B, Alex at 2B. Full moon tonight in Texas ??? Murphy at bat, pops it up falls in by Scutaro and Rolen. Murphy to 2B, Another strange play. That was probably Scutaro’s error, he had the best read on it but left it for Rolen who veered off leaving it for Scutaro. Lind ends up throwing it in to 2B but Murphy is in there safe. Rios now at bat, fly ball out to Byrd in RF. Overbay at bat. Singles into CF. Two on one down for Lind who has been very quiet tonight. Grounds it back to Rupe, throw to Young throw to Davis at 1B and yes indeed, yet another double play.
Bottom 6th: Angels have already beaten Yankees once again. Boston tied with Oakland in extra innings and Tampa beating Detroit. Laird at bat full count, grounds it very hard to Rolen at 3B throw to Overbay but Overbay cannot hold it and Laird safe. Error to Rolen but Lyle should have had that one. No damage done but Jays hitters have to make another appearance here and produce.

Top 8th: Eckstein at bat. Eddie Guardado pitching. Eckstein doubles down RF line. Inglett sac bunt here and Eckstein to 3B. Joe out at 1B. Scutaro at bat with runner at 3B. Déjà vu 100 times this season. Fly ball out to shallow LF Boggs. Eckstein tags and is thrown out at the plate. Double play. It was much too shallow to run on. Plus Rios was next at bat, some faith in Alex.
