Jays win a close one with excellent pitching.

Toronto v Oakland series finale.

Lineups: Oakland: Sweeney, Cabrera, Giambi, Holliday, Cust, Chavez, Suzuki, Ellis, Powell and Braden pitching.
Toronto: Scutaro, Hill, Rios (still in there), Wells, Rolen, Millar, Overbay, Chavez, Snider and Romero pitching. This lineup has five of the first six with .300 plus averages. The one exception of course is Rios at .204 almost 100 points lower than the rest of the first five. You don’t realize how bad this guy is until you see the stats. Not many managers would persevere but Cito can be very stubborn at times.

Interesting sight as Romero is warming up first inning, Holliday in front of us is timing Romero with his swing. He is number four in the lineup! That's impressive preparation.

The good: Romero definitely. Overbay for the winning run and bullpen of Downs and Ryan for closing this one down. Not too many hits today only five per team. Great play by Wells, Hill and Chavez in 3rd to save run.
The bad: Rios on the field and at bat.

Top 1st: Sweeney pops up to Scutaro. Cabrera grounds to Scutaro on to Overbay. Crowd all over Giambi, he looks half the size he used to. Giambi lines out to Rios in right and Alex drops the ball. An easy catch. Don’t tell me his (lack of) hitting is not affecting his fielding. Giambi safe on the error. Holliday with one on strikes out but that is an additional six pitches for Romero. Hope that doesn’t hurt later.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro strikes out. Hill flied out to left fielder Holliday. Rios off the glove of Cabrera. Scorer very generous to Alex giving him a hit here, that was an error from here. But hard to see Alex’s average dip below .200 with his next at bat. Wells grounds back to pitcher Braden throw to Powell at first.

Top 2nd: Cust lines to Scutaro. Chavez strikes out. Suzuki strikes out.
Bottom 2nd: Millar walks on four pitches. Rolen pops up Ellis at second base. Braden wild pitch, and Millar moves to second. Overbay singles to centre, Millar in to score and Jay go ahead 1-0.
Chavez up from Vegas AAA for Barrett who could be out for several weeks pops up to Braden.Snider strikes out.

Top 3rd: Ellis singles to centre. Powell fly ball to Wells. Sweeney doubles to centre, Ellis to third and coming home but out on the relay from Hill to Chavez, nice play all round. Cabrera fly ball to Snider. That hurts now, if Ellis had held at third he would have scored on that fly ball.
Bottom 3rd: Scutaro lines it at Cabrera, there’s an error given this time and Scutaro safe. Hill singles to right, Scutaro to second. Rios with two on and no outs but don’t bet on a sacrifice here. Alex fly ball to Sweeney. Wells fly ball to Holliday. Millar fly ball to Sweeney. Leaving the two hitters on base. If Alex could have sacrificed them over, at least one run would have scored from the three sacrifice flies. Little things at the time but let’s hope it doesn’t matter in the ninth.

Top 4th: Boos again must be Giambi, grounds to Rolen throw to Overbay. One down. Holliday strikes out. Cust strikes out. Romero continues to impress although pitch count getting high.
Bottom 4th: Rolen singles to right. Overbay strikes out. Chavez grounds to Ellis to Cabrera to Powell, double play ball. Romero not getting much run support today.

Top 5th: Chavez grounds to Scutaro to Overbay for the out.. Suzuki infield single to second. Ellis fly ball to Rios. He catches it this time and gets the sarcastic cheers. Powell full count and walks Suzuki to second. Two on two down for Sweeney, fly ball to Wells.
Bottom 5th:.Snider fly ball to Sweeney. Scutaro grounds to Cabrera on to Powell. Two down. Hill fly ball to Sweeney.

Top 6th: Cabrera fly ball to right fielder Rios. Giambi grounded out, shortstop Scutaro to first baseman Overbay. Holliday singles to centre. Cust strikes out.
Both pitchers are quick pitching. This game is humming along.
Bottom 6th: Rios pops up to Ellis.at second base. Wells walks. Millar grounds to Chavez on to Ellis and Powell, double play. That was a very quick inning.

Top 7th: Chavez grounds to Hill on to Overbay one down for Suzuki. Walks. Ellis grounds to Hill on to Scutaro and Overbay. Jays have their own double play.. Romero over the 100 pitches.
Bottom 7th: Rolen fly ball to Sweeney. Overbay fly ball out to Holliday. Chavez singles to right, Snider strikes out.

Crowd has been enjoiyng watching Yanklees losing again but now the video and sight of AJ Burnett giving up th two home runs is received with great applause... Aj donlt expect a great rceeption in May.

Top 8th: Downs now pitching. Powell strikes out. Everyone gets pizza Jays have seven strikeouts today.Sweeney strikes out.Cabrera grounds to Rolen on to Overbay.
Bottom 8th: Scutaro fly ball to left fielder Holliday. Hill walks on four pitches. Springer pitching. Rios flies out to Cust. Wells strikes out.

Top 9th: BJ Ryan now pitching. Everyone very nervous in the seats around me at least. One hit can tie this one up. Giambi leading off and with usual fan greetings grounds to Scutaro throw to Overbay. Holliday singles to Rios. Cust strikes out. BJ is throwing high percentage of strikes and location so far great. Chavez grounds back to BJ soft throw to Overbay for final out and Jays have won another. Great pitching in this one from both starters but Romero deserved this one and so good to see BJ finish it off.

Day off tomorrow and then back again with Texas and Halladay pitching.

Jays win 4-2 in extra innings.

Toronto v Oakland

Lineups: Oakland: Sweeney, Cabrera, Giambi, Holliday, Cust, Suzuki, Ellis, Crosby, Davis, and Cahill pitching.
Toronto: Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Bautista, Overbay, Barajas, Snider and Tallet pitching.
The only surprise here is why is Rios still in the lineup? Bite the bullet Cito and sit this guy. You have very good bats sitting on the bench. He obviously thinks that he can hide Alex in a lineup that has Snider hitting number nine.

Jays win this one in extra innings. Tallet does his job to keep it close but the bullpen is getting mighty tired. Rios continues slump but does have one hit but the 1-20 is hardly a number three production.

The good: Tallet 5 1/3 innings and keeping Jays in this one. Bullpen of Camp. Downs, Ryan, Carlson and Frasor scoreless 6 2/3 relief. BUT Cito these guys are getting far too much work this early in the season. Overbay two hit game including great walk off home run to win this one. Scutaro stolen base. Barajas getting one stealing. BJ getting pickoff and Davis caught stealing. Downs and Camp still have 0.00 ERAs. BJ is getting his down each outing.

The bad: Rios again. Winning run on third in the ninth but could not bring it in.

Top 1st: Sweeney lines one off Tallet’s hand. Tallet wild throw and Sweeney now moves to third. Error on Tallet. Cabrera grounds to Hill on to Overbay. Giambi grounds to DScutaro throw to Overbay for the out Sweeney scores and 1-0 Oakland. Holliday grounds to Scutaro on to Overbay.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro grounds to third base Crosby on to first base Giambi. Hill grounds to short Cabrera on to Giambi. Two down for Alex. Rios grounds to third base Crosby on to Giambi and Alex continues where he has left off in last three games.

Top 2nd: Cust doubles to left. Suzuki strikes out one down. Ellis pops out to Overbay. Crosby fly ball to Rios. No damage done and Tallet eating up the innings.
Bottom 2nd: Wells grounds to Cahill on to Giambi. One down for Lind, singles to left and keeps his hot bat going. Alex you should borrow one. Bautista grounds to Cabrera on to Giambi, Two down. Lind to second. Overbay walks. Barajas lines out to Cabrera.

Top 3rd: Davis grounds back to Tallet on to Overbay, one down. Sweeney walks. Cabrera grounds to Hill out at first, Sweeney to second. Giambi pops up to Scutaro.
Bottom 3rd: Snider grounds to Ellis on to Giambi, one down. Scutaro full count and walks. Hill lines out to Crosby. Rios (finally) beats out the infield single to third, Scutaro to second. Wells grounds back to Cahill on to Giambi for third out and leaves two on.

Top 4th: Holliday fly ball to Snider. Cust fly ball Lind. Suzuki fly ball to Rios. That’s the way to go friends, put that ball in play.
Bottom 4th: Lind walks. Bautista sacrificing, pitcher to Giambi, Lind to second. One down for Overbay another walk. Barajas full count and third walk of inning to load them up. Lind to third, Overbay to second. Snider with bases loaded grounds to Giambi throw to second to get Barajas. Lind scores. 1-1. Overbay to third. Scutaro hit by pitch, bases loaded again. Snider to second. Hill at bat with bases loaded grounds to Cabrera great throw to Giambi to get Aaron. This could have been much better for Jays.

Top 5th: Ellis fly ball to Rios. Crosby grounds to Bautista on to Overbay two down. Davis pops up to Hill.
Bottom 5th: Rios grounds to Cabrera on to Giambi for first out. Alex still struggling. Wells doubles to left. Lind strikes out. Bautista fly ball to Sweeney. Vernon left out there.

Top 6th: Sweeney doubles to centre. Cabrera fouls out to Snider, Sweeney to third. Giambi doubles to right Sweeney scores easily. 2-1 Oakland. Passed ball to Barajas, Giambi to third. That’s it for Tallet today, he has done a nice job holding Oakland today. Camp now pitching. Holliday lines out to Scutaro. Two down. Cust strikes out.
Bottom 6th: Overbay doubles to centre. Barajas sacrificing to Giambi flip to Ellis for the out but Overbay to third with one out and Snider once again. Singles to rght Overbay scires 2-2 game. Snider does it again. That’s it for Cahill. Wuertz now pitching. Scutaro fly ball to Holliday. Hill infield single to third, Snider to second. Rios with two on strikes out.

Top 7th: Suzuki grounds to Bautista throw to Overbay. Ellis strikes out. Crosby full count and walks. Davis singles to right, Crosby to second. That’s it for Camp. Downs now pitching. Sweeney grounds to Scutaro on to Overbay for third out.
Bottom 7th: Springer pitching. Wells pops up to Ellis. Lind lines out to Sweeney in right. Bautista strikes out.

Top 8th: Cabrera safe on Hill's error. Giambi pops up Scutaro. Cabrera has to hold. Holliday strikes out. Two down. Cabrera stealing and Barajas nails him to end this inning.
Bottom 8th: Casilla now pitching. Overbay grounds to Ellis on to Giambi. One down for Barajas pops up to Ellis. Snider pops up to Sweeney.

Top 9th: Cust grounds back to Downs on to Overbay. Suzuki grounds to Overbay flip to Downs. Two down. Ellis fly ball to Snider. Good inning for Downs.
Bottom 9th: Scutaro full count and walks. Hill fly ball to Davis, Scutaro moves to second. Alex at bat at least he cannot ground into double play. Scutaro to third. Rios, not swinging here, full count and walks. Two on and only one down for Vernon. Wells grounds to Ellis throw to catcher Suzuki to get Scutaro in a run down, Rios to second. Lind strikes out. This is extra innings, Jays had golden chance there.

Top 10th: Ryan now pitching. Crosby fly ball to Rios. Davis full count and walks. Sweeney strikes out. Two down. Davis stealing, Ryan to Overbay to shortstop Scutaro, Davis out.
Bottom 10th: Giese now pitching, has just been recalled from AAA. Bautista full count and walks. Overbay grounds Ellis on to shortstop Cabrera, Bautista out. Barajas fly ball to Holliday. Snider fly ball to Sweeney. No one wants to win this one.
Top 11th: - Carlson pitching. He seems to be in every game. Cito you are playing with fire with this relief. Cabrera fly ball to Rios. Giambi grounds back to Carlson on to Overbay. Holliday grounds to Bautista on to Overbay for third out. Carlson has done his job, Jays get second chance to win this one.
Bottom 11th: Scutaro fly ball to right Sweeney. Hill fly ball to Holliday. Two down for Alex, grounds to Cabrera on to Giambi. And we go to the twelfth.

Top 12th: Cust strikes out. That’s it for Carlson. Frasor now pitching. Suzuki lines out to Rios. Ellis fouls out to Overbay. Jays get another chance to wrap this one up.
Bottom 12th: Wells fly ball to Davis. Lind grounds to Ellis on to Giambi at first. Two down for Bautista, walks. One on for Overbay. Now not a time to be hesitant Lyle, that’s better, gets hold of this one in big way huge home run to right and this game is over.
Walk off home run and Jays win this one 4-2 No better way to win a game and send crowd home happy.

Chavez has been recalled from AAA to replace Barrett injured last night. I like Chavez and his defence, great arm.

Jays Purcey gives one up with lack of control. Scvutaro and Hill go deep.

Toronto v Oakland.

Jays back at home after great 5-2 road trip.
Lineups: Oakland: Sweeney, Cabrera, Giambi, Holliday, Garciaparra, Cust, Suzuki, Ellis, Cosby and Outman pitching.
Toronto: Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Millar, Barrett, Bautista and Purcey pitching.

Jays lose 8-5 after being ahead 4-1. Purcey implodes and Rios continues his hitless streak.

The good: Hill and Scutaro and that’s it tonight. Both now with team leading four home runs.
The bad: Jays losing Barrett with injured arm. Cito uses five pitchers tonight, he was hoping for better and not good omen for tomorrow when Tallet starting.
The inept: Purcey and Rios. Purcey may have pitched his last game in Toronto for a while, just not ready for the bigtime. Rios ? what more can be said, he is in a huge slump and the team cannot carry a number three hitter.

Top 1st: Sweeney walks on a full count. Cabrera singles to centre, Sweeney to third. Two on not outs and Purcey in immediate trouble. Giambi fouls out to Rolen. One down. Holliday grounds to Rolen throw to first to get one Sweeney scores 1-0 Oakland. Cabrera at second. Garciaparra strikes out.
Bottom 1st: Scutaro second pitch there she goes into left field bullpen. 1-1 game. Hill at bat singles to left. Rios on his 0-10 streak, grounds this one to Cabrera, flip to Ellis on to Giambi double play ball. Alex is in a miserable slump and Cito should sit him he is doing the guy no favours let alone the team by playing him right now. Wells walks.Makes that double play even more significant. Lind singles to right, Wells moves to third, that would have been at least one run for Jays.Rolen, fly ball to left for the out.

Top 2nd: Cust fly ball to Wells. Suzuki fly ball to Rios. Two down. Ellis walks on four pitches.
Crosby grounds to Scutaro on to.Hill to get Ellis.
Bottom 2nd: Millar strikes out. Barrett lines to Sweeney. Bautista fly ball to Sweeney.
Top 3rd: Sweeney hit in the shoulder. Cabrera fly ball to Wells. Sweeney steals second. Giambi strikes out. Holliday fly ball to Rios.
Bottom third: Scutaro walks on full count. Hill gets hold of this another into left field bullpen two runs score and Jays are up 3-1. Rios safe at first on fielding error by Ellis. No hit. Wells full count and walks, Rios moves to second. Lind with two on and still no outs, strikes out. Rolen strikes out. Two down for Millar with two on. Doubles to centre field, Rios scores and Vernon stops at third. 4-1 Jays. Error on the play by Sweeney and Vernon comes home. 5-1 Jays. Barrett fly ball to Cust but Jays have a good lead here to help Purcey.

Top 4th: Garciaparra grounds to Millar flip to Purcey, one down. Cust singles to centre. Suzuki singles to left, Cust to second. Ellis walks the bases loaded and with only one out. Purcey in huge trouble. Crosby lines one to left centre wall, in the gap and clears the bases, three runs score and this is a one run game. 5-4. Sweeney at bat grounds to Scutaro on to Millar for second out. Wild pitch by Purcey and Crosby scores. Barajas injured on the play falling on his right arm and elbow. Game is all tied up and Purcey has just given four runs back to Oakland. I don’t want to look at Cito’s face and anger. Barajas in as catcher. Carlson now pitching. Cabrera walks. Giambi grounds to Scutaro on to Millar for third out but damage has been done.
Bottom 4th: Bautista grounds to Crosby to first baseman Giambi. Scutaro strikes out. Hill walks. Rios strikes out.

Top 5th: Holliday grounds to Millar. Garciaparra flied out to center fielder Wells. Cust hit by a pitch. Suzuki fly ball to Rios.
Bottom 5th: Bailey now pitching.Wells fouls out to Giambi. Lind strikes out. Rolen strikes out.

Top 6th: Frasor pitching. Ellis fly ball to Wells. Crosby grounds to Scutaro throw to Millar for second out. Sweeney strikes out.
Bottom 6th: Millar grounded out, pitcher A.Bailey to first baseman Giambi. Barajas strikes out. Bautista strikes out.

Top 7th: League pitching. Cabrera walks. Leadoff guy on base, drives everyone crazy. Giambi flied out to left fielder Bautista. Holliday doubles to Wells playing much too shallow for this. Cabrera scores but Holliday goes too far and is out at second. Garciaparra fly ball to Rios.
Bottom 7th: Wuertz pitching. Scutaro grounds to third baseman Crosby throw to first baseman Giambi. Hill strikes out. Rios strikes out. 0-4 tonight and now 0-14.

Top 8th: Cust grounds to Hill throw to Millar. Suzuki doubles to centre field. Ellis singles to centre, run scores, 7-5 Oakland. Crosby at bat. Ellis steals. Wild pitch and Ellis takes third. This is a mess. And walks. Sweeney grounds to Rolen throw to Hill for one but not in time for two and Ellis scores 8-5. Cabrera grounds to Rolen throw to Hill for third out.
Bottom 8th: Casilla pitching Wells grounds to third, one down. Lind walks. Rolen that was a frustrated swing by Rolen, way outside. Ground to third, two down. Millar with Lind at second. Walks. Two on now for Barajas. Swinging wildly, strikes out. Terrible at bat with two on. Had no clue.

Top 9th: Camp pitching Cito has had to use five pitchers because of Purcey;s outing. And he needed them tomorrow with Tallet grounds to first through Millar but Hil makes great play behind him for throw to Camp. For out. Holliday fly ball to Wells two down. Garciaparra fly ball to right corner, Rios drops it, do we ever miss Mondesi in that corner not afraid to go into the wall, not so our Alex though. Garciaparra strikes out.
Bottom 9th: Last gasp for Jays tonight. Don’t get your hopes up they have been flat since Purcey’s meltdown. Bautista now facing submariner Ziegler strikes out. Scutaro singles up the middle, Hill 2-3 tonight. full count, grounds to third on to second and first double play ball.

Jays lose one they had in the bag.
But the good news for Alex, he doesn’t have to bat and go 0-5 three nights in a row.

Tampa, Boston and Yankees all win today. Boston was losing this one 7-0 in the second inning. A great fightback for the Fenway crowd to enjoy. Not tonight for the Jays.

Jays continue torrid hitting behind Halladay brilliance.

Toronto v Minnesota final game of series. And last game in the metrodome as new stadium is built.

Jays win this one 9-2. 14 more hits plus two moré home runs and grand slam from Millar.

Lineups: Toronto. Scutaro, Hill, Rios, Wells, Lind, Rolen, Millar, Barajas, Bautista and Halladay pitching.
Minnesota: Span, Casilla, Morneau, Kubel, Cuddyer, Buscher, Young, Morales, Harris and Liriano pitching.

Yankees have already lost 10-1 today in home opener to Cleveland. Sabitha again but was not in for the nine run seventh inning. No Boston or Baltimore. Rays have lost to White Sox. Jays go even further ahead on everyone in division.

The very good: Halladay js lights out for seven. Millar grand slam. Hill multiple hit game for second night.
The good: Scutaro, Hill, Wells, Barajas and Bautista all with multiple hits.

The bad: Rios 0-5 again tonight and 0 for his last 10 at bats. What to do Cito? Just thinking, Alex has not seemed right since that ball hit him in the head off the wall. Does he have a problem? Vernon is not hot but not as bad as Alex.

Top 1st: Scutaro lines hard into right field corner double to lead off here, Hill high into right corner great catch by Cuddyer against the wall, throw gets away from Casilla as Scutaro tags and then comes all the way home on the error to Casilla at second 1-0 Jays. Great start. Rios now, horrible night last night 0-5. lines it to third, two down. Wells. Strikes out.
Bottom 1st: Span grounds to Rolen, one down for Casilla, strikes out. Morneau, singles into right. Kubel at bat grounds out to Millar.

Top 2nd: Lind the only left hander in lineup tonight, full count, and lifts it over head of second base for single. Rolen with one on. Lifts it into shallow centre but great running catch by Span. Millar with one down and one on, similar play to right but Casilla gets it. Two down. Barajas another pop up back to the wall and Morales makes nice catch. Lead off single is left out there.

Bottom 2nd: Cuddyer lines single into centre, Buscher singles into right and Cuddyer gets to third. Two on and no outs here. Halladay in trouble. Young grounds to Hill throw to second but Scutaro unable to get two. Run scores 1-1. Morales exactly same play. Grounds to Hill throw to Scutaro and drops ball unable to get double play for second time. Two down Morales at first. Harris bounces one over Halladay’s head and Hill makes third out.

Top 3rd: Bautista singles up the middle, now can Jays make this count this time? Scutaro full count, frozen and strike three. One down for Hill, that’s better lifts it into left field. Two on for Rios now if ever a time to connect, strikes out, 0-7. Not good Cito when you have Snider sitting on the bench, sit Alex for a week ir at least move him down the order.
Wells full count and pops it up to centre. Cito has a major problem with number three and four hitters. Their inadequacies are being hidden by the other hot bats but this is much too similar to the underachieving of last season.
Bottom 3rd: Span strikes out. Casilla grounds to Millar flip to Halladay for second out. Morneau lines this one off glove of Rolen very difficult attempt way off bag, Kubel grounds to Rolen throw to second for third out. No damage .39 pitches.

Top 4th: Lind lines out into left field. Rolen grounds to Buscher at third from his knees makes the throw to first to get Rolen. Millar pops up to Casilla. 68 pitches.
Bottom 4th: Cuddyer grounds to Millar, flip to Halladay for the out. Buscher lines this one past Halladay into centre. Second hit tonight. Young strikes out, two down. Morales grounds to Millar for third out. Halladay 55 pitches.

Two down for Hill ball gets away but not far enough for Bautista to score. Yes Aaron singles into right and Bautista scores 2-1 Jays. Rios now. .238 average says it all. Takes first two strikes, Doesn’t matter this time, Aaron stealing and is out easily. Never mind Alex you have another chance next inning. 84 pitches for Liriano. May only last one more inning and that’s what Jays want to get to the bullpen beaten up last night.
Bottom 5th: Harris at bat. Singles into right. Span hit on his foot. two on, Casilla bunting, now strikes out. One down for Morneau 2-2. and strikes out this time. Kubel two down two on. Strikes out on three pitches. WOW great stuff Halladay. Two on and no outs and strikes out the side. 71 pitches.

Top 6th: Alex resumes his at bat, strikes out, now 0-8. Come on Cito put the guy out of his misery. Wells singles into left. Lind strikes out. Guerrier up in bullpen. 100 pitches for Liriano. Rolen with one on and two down. 3-0 count. Walks on four pitches. Two on for Millar. Pops it up to right. Leaves two on.
Bottom 6th: Cuddyer strikes out. Number seven for Halladay. Buscher Pops first pitch up to Scutaro almost behind Hill for that out. Young lines first pitch out to Hill. Six pitch inning. Roy loves that. 80 pitches.

Top 7th: Guerrier now pitching to Barajas, lifts it into right. Bautista 2-2 tonight, full count, pops out to Casilla in foul ground. Scutaro one down one on. Gets hold of this one bigtime, and it is out of here in left field seats. 4-1 Jays. His third home run of season. Hill singles into left field. His third hit of the night, Alex now would love just one tonight, pops it up, 0-4 tonight and 0-9 last two games. Breslow up in bullpen. Wild pitch off mask of Morales and Hill in to score 5-1 Wells to second. Same pitch again and Wells moves to third. Passed ball and ball four so Lind on first. Rolen getting a little wild here, that was high outside. Five balls out of seven pitches. 3-1 count, and walks him. Bases loaded for Millar that’s it for Breslow. Dickey the knuckleballer. First pitch, WHOA !!! lifts it high and into left field seats. Grand slam Kevin, six years since his last one. 9-1 Jays. Barajas full count. Doubles off the wall in left almost went out. His second hit of the inning and 3-3 tonight. Bautista walks. That’s it for Dickey. Fourth pitcher of the inning. Ayala facing Scutaro 3-2 count, strikes out looking. Rolen and Rios the only hitters without a hit tonight.

Bottom 7th: Morales loops it into left, Harris singles under glove of Scutaro two on. Span strikes out. Casilla grounds to Hill on to Scutaro and back to Millar double play ball. Perfect. I think we might see him start eighth at least or maybe Downs.

Top 8th: Hill facing Ayala 3-4 tonight. Bill Murphy up in bullpen. Fly ball to Span in right centre. Alex now, will he go 0-5 again? Yes, grounds to third. Now 0-10. Snider now for Wells. Doubles to the wall. Is this kid the rookie or Alex ? Lind now .370 average. Full count. Walks. Rolen gets hold of it but long fly ball out to centre field wall.
Bottom 8th: Murphy now for Halladay. Mc Donald at short, Scutaro moves to second and Snider in left, Alex at centre field for Vernon. Morneau strikes out. Kubel grounds to Scutaro two down. High fly ball to centre and this one is out. 9-2 Jays. Cuddyer, similar hit but this one stays in for Rios to make third out.

Bottom 9th: Young grounds to Rolen, one down. Morales, fly ball out to Bautista, two down for Harris strikes out.

Jays win another and end a great road trip 5-2. Last year they were terrible on the road but then this is not last year's team.No one gives them any chance this year so they have nothing to lose.

By the way Ozzie and Ingoldisthorpe Jays. WAMCO = White, Alomar, Molitor, Carter and Olerud. The top five in Jays lineup in the glory years.

Jays power to win tonight with 19 hits and two Snider home runs.

The very good: Snider two home runs tonight. Rolen 3-4. Hill 3-4 and stolen base. Rios three hits. Lind two doubles. Multiple hit game by five Jays and 3 hits for Hill. BUT also BJ Ryan throwing nothing but strikes and saving this one.
The good: Overbay gets his home run with that sweet “doubles” swing to centre.
The bad: Losing Litsch to injury in the fourth. Sloppy play in first two innings. Wells in first two at bats looks like a Double AA rookie. Overbay sloppy base running. Lind base error. Alex in the field.

Top 1st: Scutaro at bat flies out to center fielder Span. Hill singles to centre field. Rios at bat with one on singles to centre field Hill moves to second. Wells now with two on grounds to third into yet another double play. How many is that this season?

Morales at bat singles the other way. Young all the way to third and Morales goes to second on the throw. Punto singles into centre, two runs score 3-1 Twins and Litsch is all over the place, and his pitch count is already getting high. Top of the order again Span at bat, flies out to Snider but terrible inning by Litsch you can’t let bottom of the order dominate like this. 38 pitches for Litsch.

Top 3rd: Scutaro first pitch swinging fly ball out to right not the way to get back into this one. One down. Hill at bat, singles up the middle his second hit. Rios fly ball to centre field two down. Wells has to make up for that poor at bat in the first. Two down one on. Hills stealing second and safe. Wells takes a rash swing at ball way out of the zone and pops up to Morneau. Wells has a long way to go to show any leadership on this team right now.
Bottom 3rd: Casilla at bat pops it up to Morneau. Morneau at bat pops it up to Rolen, two down. grounds back to Litsch, throw to Overbay for third out. Nine pitch inning. That’s better Jesse. Yankees losing 10-1…..to Tampa.

Bottom 4th: Cuddyer first pitch swing and doubles off right field wall, Alex gets a glove on it but cannot hold it. Buscher exactly the same play, Rios had a chance but cannot catch it off his glove, looks like in and out of his glove and Cuddyer scores easily and Buscher with a triple 4-2 Twins. They have come out swinging tonight and Jesse is not fooling many. Trainer is out. Litsch is injured and is out of here. Tallet in to pitch. Not good to see Litsch go out like that. Young strikes out one down. Morales at bat, lines right at Scutaro two down. Punto at bat and strikes out. Tallet excellent relief here with runner on third and no outs. Perhaps Jays can settle down now and hope that Litsch does not have long term injury.

Bottom 6th: Strained right forearm for Jesse Litsch, not good. Morales leadoff grounds to Rolen. Punto at bat, pops up to Overbay. Span at bat, two down. Frasor in bullpen. Doubles into right corner. Span can really run. Casilla at bat two down. Span stealing third and wild pitch but no chance for Span to come all the way. Pops it up to Scutaro. No damage done this inning.

Top 7th: Rios now two hit night but not a happy night in the outfield. Alex gets under two but high fouls down left field seats and strikes out. Now Vernon, hitless tonight. 0-3 and long long overdue to get it going. There she goes, single into centre, better than a strikeout Vernon. That’s it for Guerrier. . Rays pounding the Yankees 15-3. Pena with six rbis so far…. Breslow now pitching to Lind. One on one down. Lind 2-3. Wells stealing and Lind strikes out. That’s it for Breslow. Pitching Rolen at bat with Vernon in scoring position. Humber now pitching Rolen singles up the middle and Vernon all the way round to score and tie this one up 6-6. That stolen base pays off. Overbay at bat bounces first pitch to second.

Kubel at bat, singles to centre. Cuddyer at bat one on one down. grounds hard to Hill on to Scutaro back to Overbay double play ball.Perfect.

Top 8th: Can Jays put this one away? Ayala pitching. Bottom of the order. Barajas doubles into the gap in right. Snider now. Johnny Mc. pinch running for Barajas. Oh Wow… Travis gets hold of this one, no doubt about this a bullet off his bat into second deck two run home run and Jays go ahead 8-6. His second of the night, not bad for a number nine hitter, Jays 17 hits. Scutaro fly ball to right field. Hill 3-4 tonight. Strikes out this time. Rios now. Only Alex and Barajas of the regulars without home run this season. Singles into right for his third hit tonight. Vernon now and that’s it for Ayala. Dickey now pitching knuckle ball pitcher. This should be interesting. Vernon grounds to short but beats out the throw. Two on two down for Lind, I wonder if he has faced a knuckleball …. Ball gets away here Alex and Vernon advance. Base hit will do it Adam. No grounds to second. Here comes Scott Downs to hold them. Will we see BJ in the ninth ? Cito says yes… yesterday.
Bottom 8th: Downs pitching. Barrrett catching. Harris pinch hitter. Doubles over Alex’s head in right. Young at bat. Wild pitch and Harris at third. Strikes out, one down one on for pinch hitter Joe Crede strikes out. Punto at bat, bunting but foul. Strikes him out and the side with runner at third and no outs, That is clutch pitching friends but it ain’t over yet.

Top 9th: Can Jays add to that two run lead and give BJ some room here? Redmond now catching. Rolen at bat. Dickey still pitching. Rolen strikes out. Overbay grounds to short. Two down. Barrett at bat grounds to second.
Bottom 9th: Here comes BJ and has the top of the order to face. Get the heart pills ready friends. This could be rough. Span at bat, singles to left on a 0-2 count. Casilla grounds to Scutaro to Hill on to Overbay, double play, perfect. Morneau singles up the middle on a 0-2 count. Kubel first pitch pops it up to Hill. Jays win this one and BJ is back. Gets his save out of this one. Put the heart pills away for tonight at least.

Frasor gets the win. BJ his first save.
